Wow so a month and no update, sorry about that guys. I went and announced my return and then a few days later this happened...

For those of you who have partaken of this sweet drug, you know that doing anything else is herculean effort. Despite the temptation to play until my fingers bleed, I finally ripped myself away from the TV and fired up the forge to complete the Word Bearers commission I've been working on for the endlessly patient Kibosh. Here is the rough lineup for the coming Call of Chaos (minus those two scruffy Space Wolves in the back left of course):

I know what you mean, brother. My progress is slow enough as it is, but this past Monday, I came down with a nasty sore throat and some bad congestion, and in my boredom, I picked up a new game...

Tuesday, when my brother got home from work, he comes to see how I'm feeling and says "Have you been playing this all day?" Which is funny coming from him, 'cause all he does is play video games from the instant he gets home from work until he goes to bed. But my response to him was something like...

Yeah, I'm lucky in that I'm a natural Power Gamer. So I finished Shadows of Mordor in like...30 hours. Not 100% but I got all the collectibles and was able to murder anything ez-pz....To the point that the end was kinda anti-climactic for me....

 

As for MMOs...Yeah I've had a WoW Sub for 10 years now.....

 

OT: Looking forward to this years CoC entries. Your Night Lords & Others are magnificent so I look forward to seeing your work!

Ahh the old Video Games vs Table top Games Scenario.

Super Smash Bros how glad I am you are a good pick up and put down whenever 3ds game now.

 

Loving the diverse look to the Night Lord forces on the forum and this lot look great I'll be back tracking my way through the thread to see them all.

Ahhh, Operation Locker...A wonderful Cluster :cuss to grind out weapons in.

 

I still remember the first game I got over 100 kills on that map :P

I'm in exactly the same boat. My dread drop of hasn't been finished in a month but I somehow have a lvl 28 Titan.

Yeah I've now got a lvl 23 Voidwalker as of today... I may have a problem.

Glad you're able to join in this year, the Call of Chaos is my favorite annual event. Its where I truly put my nose to the grindstone and feed off the monumental level of dark energy in the forums. Good times :)

Guilty as well. I still can't put Battlefield 4 down....

Never got too deep into BF4, fun game but unless it has a fantastic story like Mass Effect or really good RPG elements it just doesn't hold my attention.

 

Transmission received 15th. Lord Commander Chyld and the 8th returning to reinforce.

 

Everything is inspiring as always!! Can't wait to see more

I miss playing WoT, but Dark Souls has been running its course for me. I keep getting nagged to get into Destiny but it's not interesting.

Ha! I see your Lv.27 Hunter and raise you a Lv.29 Warlock Sunsinger! (I must admit it disheartens me to see such an esteemed brother as yourself blindfolded to the radiant majesty and regal might of the Warlock Order by those ostentatious cloaks. Alas, I suppose not everyone can see our superiority, Hunters least of all, given those silly gasmasks you insist on wearing. :tongue.: :wink: )

 

But yes, I too have fallen victim to Destiny's siren song, and a cruel, maintenence-intensive mistress she is. :laugh.:

Battle Report: Night Lords vs. Emperor's Children - 1,000 Points

 

Greetings Everyone! I took a brief respite from painting to get in my first game of 7th edition 40k, had a great time against my longtime friend and adversary. I hope you enjoy the report as much as I did playing. Cheers!

TURN 1: 

 

I won the initial roll and decided to go first. My friend failed to seize the initiative so I had free reign to put the hurt on his forces.

Unfortunately all I managed to do was kill 4 cultists :dry.: (who were apparently so hopped up on meth that they passed their morale check like champs)

TURN 2:

 

On the second turn I continued to push forward having only suffered one wound on my oblits. I was feeling pretty confident by this point.

TURN 3:

 

By the beginning of my next turn, my friend promptly showed me the error of my ways and demolished 3 of the 4 bikers and took my Lord down to one wound. At the beginning of turn 3 I executed that most ancient of Night Lord maneuvers and got the :censored: out of there with my Lord. In response however I took and risk and rammed 1st Claw's Rhino through the building in the center. Popping out the other side like the cool-aide man I managed to put enough hurt on the cultists to break their morale and make them fall back off the board. First Blood to me!

TURN 4:

 

I missed a couple shots here as things got pretty intense quickly. At the end of my opponents turn 3, he managed to wreck 2nd Claw's Rhino, drive them out of it, and assault them with a pack of frisky Daemonettes he summoned in with his Sorcerer (the bastard spent the whole games within the cozy confines of his personal Rhino.) I did manage to return the favor and blasted open one of his Rhinos with the the Butcher Cannons of Ancient Gevaudas. After his Noise Marines piled out I ran my 2nd Claw's Rhino up, disembarked and blasted most of his squad off their feet. To top it off I broke his cultists after a round of Assault Cannon fire from the Oblits. With their fall-back route cut off by 2nd Claw the cultists were completely annihilated!

TURN 5:

 

At the beginning of turn 5 Gevaudas again pulled his weight and wiped one of the Predators off the map in a hail of Butcher Cannon fire. 2nd Claw held firm under the Daemonic assault and 1st Claw mopped up the remaining Noise Marine.

Though 2nd Claw gave a valiant effort they were gradually whittled down by the nimble Daemonettes and eventually succumbed to the their claws and knives.

On my friends turn he disembarked the other Noise Marine squad and proceeded to gun down the last of Hashec Tor's biker retinue.

With that we went to see if the game continued, I rolled a 1 so that was the end of the festivities. All in all I had an excellent time and I have to say I really enjoyed some of the tweaks that 7th edition has provided. Specifically I really liked the buff that vehicles got, now you don't have tanks blowing up like gasoline barrels all over the battlefield. Also Psychic powers are terrifying and also very cool and fluffy. The Daemonology lore fits perfectly with my friend's Word Bearers (the one's I'm painting up) and really brings back the awesome use of power specific daemons in a cool integrated way with Chaos Space Marines.

 

The final tally: Night Lords 7, Emperor's Children: 3

For future reference, the only psychic powers you can do from a transport are witchfire powers (pg 25 BRB). Might help you gank that sorcerer next time! Looked like a fun game though, 1000 points?
