I present to you my new DIY chapter the White Scorpions. The base and knee pads are blank because I haven't worked out any fluff for them yet. The colour scheme is based on the Texas Longhorns football uniform, plus orange is my favourite colour and is a nice change from all the dark cammo stuff I have been painting recently. Also there are not too many orange chapters out there so they look quite unique. Enjoy, much love x

Some excellent stuff in this topic! happy.png

And the colour scheme for the White Scorpions is exactly what I'd like for my Amber Dragons! Could you tell me how you got such an awesome shade of Orange? smile.png

the orange is really easy surprisingly, Chaos Black spray undercoat, Jokaero Orange basecoat, then go over all of the orange with Feugan Orange shade. I then highlight every line with Troll Slayer Orange and then go over the most prominent edges with Fire Dragon Bright. Unlike yellow which requires loads of coats to get a nice finish, orange turns out to be a piece of cake. Hope this helps.

First up is a quick change. Following the discovery of a transfer sheet and a quick search on Lexi my Raptor has become a Death Eagle, who are far more obscure and therefore much cooler in my eyes so hands off!

And another finished White Scorpion. I currently have another one of each on the go and they are a nice contrast to paint. Enjoy, much love x

Greetings all, I haven't posted for a while as I have been painting my Blood Bowl minis, and until a Dwarf engineer sticks a steam engine into his kitbag they remain non power armour and therefore illegal. However I am back to share my marines with you starting with one of my favourite chapters and paint schemes, a Flesh Tearer. The base is intentionally blank as I have various options to investigate in this area, hope you like.

My advice to people considering starting a thread like this is do it! The B&C members are really knowledgeable, helpful and kind. I think my painting has improved quite a bit since my first post and I believe that this is due to having a thread to keep me motivated and therefore in practise. Much love x

First up apologies are in order as after I posted the pics of my Flesh Tearer I realised that I hadn't highlighted his arms! So to rectify that:

And as a bonus I finished another Death Eagle, let me know what you think. Much love x

This Raven Guard has deliberately been given newer armour and weapons with little or no personal decoration as I wanted him to be a  noob who had just graduated from the scout company and is now continuing his training in the 8th. Much love x

Love your models, especially the Flesh Tearers and Death Eagles. The Raven Guard scheme on a non-beakie looks really cool, too. I'm not too fond of beakies anyway, though, so that might colour my judgement.

How did you do the weathering on that Scythe of the Emperor marine? Anything unusual? I would like to get a similar effect on a few marines sometime.

Nothing difficult, just a bit of black paint dabbed onto the armour with a sponge and then a bit od silver painted in the bigger bits. For scratches I do exactly the same only paint them on. Hope this helps.

The only thing missing from my little diorama are some nids, but that is being sorted. So this is the Scythes of the Emperor's last stand at the Giant's Coffin on the Death World of Miral. Much Love x

After reviewing my troops the other day I came away with the impression that my Flesh Tearers looked a bit too Codex if you get what I mean. Then whilst trawling through Forge World's website I saw a nasty looking bunch of Sons of Horus troops who I thought would look great as Flesh Tearers (which is unusual for me as I must be the only person on the B&C who doesn't like the look of any mark of armour prior to 6). The result is this. Much love.

This might just inspire me to finally paint those sythes I have wanted to do for awhile.
