Looks good so far, but hard to say when it's not attached to the guy:)

gotcha! i took a fast picture with the pack on, also the 2nd picture is a chaos pack where i tagged on the extra vents on the back so you can get a idea of the look but you just have to imagine them being at the same position and not behind ;)

so thoughts? suggestions? does it work? does it look like the art?

Maybe a little late to the party, but I like pose #2 as well. It has more attitude, head cocked to the side like, "Are these weaklings really going to try that?"

hehe ill add that to the votes, gonna try to do a in between the two but leaning twords 2nd option

Truth be told, I'm not sure I see the 'double arms+exhaust' in any of those pictures.

I think this backpack from the possessed kit will make your life a lot easier.

About spikes, I see some spikes in the front inside of his right lower leg in the second image. But I'm guessing you're going for the armour that is shown on the third image. I'm looking forward to the skin loin cloth you're going to sculpt for him!

And for what it's still worth, I'm on team shoulder pad option number two. :tu:

about the spikes i seen them and think ill add them later with other finishing touches want the model to be a mix of the artworks, the flayed skin is most likely gonna be the very last thing ill do besides the base:) thank you all for your help and please dont stop sharing your options

I like the high angle of the possessed backpack, but the spinal details may not fit without a little sculpting of green stuff to match his theme/trim.

hmm the hight and the angle where the reson i discarded the possesed backpack, thought it was too much, but i might have been wrong? woukd like to hear more opinions

Nah, not necessarily replace anything, just my thoughts from that shot. I think your double pack is pretty sweet.

im not sure myself, so thats why in so keen to hear what you all think, with so many talented people here it seems silly not to ask.

i been working onwards, my hobby time is limited so dont want to stall so inbeen working on a duble vented backpack and if that is good enough ill use that otherwise we have the possesed backpack or other options to go with.

this is what it looks like so far .

looking at it now im not quite happy with the lower part seen from the back so thinking i could sculpt a curve down and in to blend it, also unsure if i should fill the little hole nere the backpack. or go with something else?

Hmm tough call. I do think you're right about needing a surface to connect everything, maybe overlapping with the tubing between the lower pair of vents and the body of the backpack. Or slap some sort of tanks in that space maybe, as additional analgesics/drugs/filtration/whatever is keeping the old boy going.

tubing could be cool, and the tanks idea is good too, but does it fit the artwork closely enough?

In my opinion it already looks good, however if you want to add cabling and med tanks go for it, it wouldn't be against the artwork as the back pack isn't represented with full detail in any of the images you've shared. I wouldn't change it too much though, it could give him too much bulk in the back which wouldn't be very realistic for someone who can barely stand up straight!

ithought of sculpting a arch for the bottom of the "arms" on the backpack or adding cables or even both, what is your thoughts?

I am definitely in favour of the possessed pack, minus the rather stupid spine on the back. The sweep, angle and position of the vents look much more striking and makes for a better profile.

I would use cables and a tank - the FW Apothecary packs have the vial/tanks of them and I think that adequately represents the additional life support he'd require. I would guess these could be press moulded too, so you mightn't have to chop an expensive one up..... It could then help cover the blanks. You are entirely safe with art work, not many major characters have art showing their backs!!

What you've done so far is epic, no one is ever going to doubt it is Mal, so feel free to take a little artistic licence!!

I think the possessed backpack works really well (minus the spine, of course, and like others have said) :) I still cannot see the double vent in the artwork, though. But it's also going a bit like

I think that some cables could look good, on the line of those that the back pack already has. I'm not so sure about the arch though, but maybe you could sculpt something small to make the conection curvier...

im gonna try adding some cables, and decided to sculpt a bit tonsoften the transition of the went arms.

hehe its okay if you cant see that well in your old age augustus ;) its mostly clear on the 3rd artwork but the pictures i posted is very small but have a look on google, you can hint it in the 2nd picture too but only clear on the 3rd.

in other news i been going over the suggestions you guys given me in poses with weapons so used some poster taq as usual, bear in mind its just to give you a idea of what it could look like, you have to imagine the boltgun having a shoulder strap and the hand holding it one the one picture actually have the thumb on the right side ;)

first up we have him with a holstered bolt pistol and a scabbarded power sword, while his Boltgun is slung under his arm, with his hand resting on it pose but you have to fill in the blanks

2nd him firing bolt pistol, could add slung boltgun and scabbared sword but think the boltgun will make it too cluttered maybe?

more bolt pistol, not so much action but could look a little comanding

I like the first option you posted where his hand is rested on the boltgun. Not sure if this was mentioned before but I just remembered one of the dark vengeance chosen had a quad vent backpack you could maybe look at for inspiration. But honestly I prefer your quad vent backpack more than the one from dark vengeance.

HAHAHA Shots Fired! I'll give you a cookie for that one. ;)

I'm going for option one as well. Because it conveys his old age and miserableness, but also because it bulks out his mid section the most - which is my only gripe with him atm - he's just way too thin there. Perhaps you can eventually bulk him out slightly more with some pouches or grenades too?

okay seems like everyone likes option one with the slung bolter, for that i need to find a open left hand should have one somewhere, then make a shoulderstrap for the boltgun, next question is where would you think it look best with handplacement on the oltgun? on the side? griping underneath it? holding the handle?

@Augustus i like a chaos cookie then, as for bulking out the mid section when i add the flayed skin it be right there around his mid ;)

I'd say just have it touching the side, as if he's checking to make sure it's still there. The Twisted is not really one for combat, so I'd make him look the Adviser role, and that would probably go a ways to help.
