Inquisitor Eisenhorn's WIP: Raptors and other projects.

Recommended Posts

Well since the site crashed and wiped out my original WIP that I had just started, consider this a reboot.

After Armies on Parade I was a little burned out on my Raptors, but the new Raven Guard rumors have re-envigorated me a bit and I have finally gotten around to assembling an assault squad.

And I've also started putting together other random Raptors characters, possibly for a new Tactical squad, or perhaps an ad-hoc formation.

And yes, I have liberally stolen some of the best ideas I've found by other industrious souls on this website--consider it the ultimate compliment!

Finally, I have another Storm Warden assembled.  I also am excited that I finally got my hands on some Storm Warden decals, so they will have the proper markings in sweet sweet uniformity very soon!

I've sort of been posting pics all over the forums but I figure it can't hurt to just show an update of everything I've been working on in one spot here.

Here's everything, including the stuff I posted above.  It's not all done, but getting there!

Yeah, I know it's unsettling to see an Inquisitor working on some Chaos forces, but I'm a very pragmatic inquisitor: in order to fight Chaos, you must first paint Chaos!

@Yak, thanks man.  The rest of the assault squad will get posted soon.

I am working on a way to do a few army shots of my Raptors--they are indeed growing in size!

I'll probably do a thread on them in the Hall of Honor soon.

Thorn I love the special ops Raptors. I cant decide which is my favourite between the three of them so its going to have to be a three way tie... Im sure they wont mind as its all about getting the job done eh.

The traitors look excellent too although of course they need a good shooting.

I still think you should put all your painted Raptors up here for ME to marvel at. Selfish motive yes I know but what's a couple of Raptors between friends.

Looking forward to the rest of those assault marines

Been a while since I posted on here but I've got some good stuff to show in the next week or so. I wanted to put a question out to all of you old timers like me that still have their old 2nd edition starter with all those mono posed marines lying around. I've been inspired by various threads on here where people are doing some very nice retro projects with their old stuff. I've got most of my starter kit intact and I'm thinking of giving them a good solid simple green bath and a new lease on life as a retro strike force, mostly just for show and nostalgia. I've been considering what chapter to do and given the old school sentiment of the project I kind of feel like its gotta be Crimson Fists. But I wanted to put this out there if anyone else has any bright ideas. I was considering a rogue trader era Badab scheme as an alternative, but nothing beyond that. The only thing I don't want to do is a green scheme, since I've already done Raptors, and Angels of Redemption.

I love your Raptors, they are a fantastic Chapter and you have really done them justice. I always wanted to do an army of them and even have a test mini somewhere from a few years ago but I decided that since I already had Death Guard that one green marine army was enough.

I look forward to more updates!

Been a while but I've been practicing on my Blood Angels again.  All these years I've been searching for the perfect recipe for painting red, but as of late I've realized that there is no recipe substitute for just getting better at painting!  These guys are my constant that I return to periodically to see how I've improved.  I'll probably never get to that imaginary archetype of the Blood Angel I've had in my mind from when I was 12, but I'm getting closer.  The sergeant is going to be part of a 2 man diorama I'm working on--the other fellow is a Death Company marine, sort of a two-faces of the chapter sort of scene.
