So if you have read my plog, you may remember this guy!

http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s172/tzen_spider/dreaddone.jpg

I really REALLY enjoyed doing this, I think I enjoy converting models and such probably more than painting and gaming. I didn't realise how much though until I did this model.

Now I freely admit I am a total novice with the old plasticard and green stuff, that Hellbrute was the first go I had at it and it taught me a lot! The land raider I recently showed you all is a trial run to see if I can do something with a Landraider, and if I can I will do it again for my final Landraider for my Coryphaus.

This is the progress so far!

It's very very early days, and since I can;t get at my paints at the moment I decided to start work on this!

I plan on making a "blue print" of all the parts here so that if I do pull it off, I can just copy the stuff I like over to the second Landraider. I will also share it on the webs for anyone who cares! :biggrin.:

Haha yeah, they are indeed. It always puzzled me as to why they put them at the back and not the front. You step out of your transport... and get a Lascannon shot in the face. Odd.

Anyway! Work has continued slowly. I am at my folks' place and they tend to dictate when there is or isn't space for me to paint or model. For the last few days I haven't been able to do much paitning, but when I have had some time, I have tried to get a bit of modelling in!

Here is the result!

Another update, been working away at the rims of the extra armour, here is a couple of pics.

I realise most people will probably be pro's at this kinda thing, but for the uninitiated, the gaps between the different planks of plasticard will be filled with green stuff, and much more detail is to be added with green stuff.

When the new version of the Land Raider came out the box art painting on the cover has a Land Raider action shot. The Sponsons are in the foreward position. However, the photos on the box sides and rear show the completed model all have the sponsons in the back... This was an error by the 'Eavy Metal modeler tasked with assembly and painting... They didn't catch the error until it was to late so they never bothered to change it... Unfortunately, we've been living with the perpetuation of the error since the kit came out... Its really sad that GW has never bothered to fix it... and still perpetuate the problem themselves..

Well I didn't know that! Seems so odd that they didn't Just get someone to paint a new one up.

Sadly my pc died again today so I spent a great deal of time trying and failing to fix it. Hoping to crack on with some more work on it tomorrow! :D

At the panel I was at when Jervis Johnson told this story, he said it was months after its release that it was finally noticed... By then so many people had assembled it following the box photos that they never bothered to fix it...

Hope you can get your rig fixed soon. Being without a computer sucks...

That's why I have 4 lol!

Sadly photobucket is a bit naf and keeps running out of bandwidth, I don't fancy moving all my pictures over to a new host so I'm just gonna upload elsewhere from now on and let the photobucket ones just sit there.

Anyway, I literally have no time these days to do anything much, just studying and what not, and family parties, which keep me away from making progress. A broken pc didn't help either.

So here is the panels so far. I have learnt so much already, the rims on the right hand side have been done much more neatly than the left side:

The back panel things look very odd just hanging there, but trust me when they are finished they will be attached much more convincingly to the model. They wont look like they are suspended in mid air.

I think I have seriously underestimated how long this project is going to take me.

It hasn't put me off, but it may end up making the journey back to university with me, as I can't see it being completed in less than three weeks.

Just added some green stuff (of the liquid variety) in order to add some strength to the joints of the plasticard. You can literally see the learning curve between the two pics:

One side has had to have loads of it to cover up the cracks and such, the other side just has it on the joint. Along with the Hellbrute and a a few CSM's, this bad boy will have to come to uni with me.

Dear Tzen,

Stop being so popular.

Love,

People who want to actually see the things you build. :tongue.:

Dear Tzen,

Stop using Photobucket. Switch to imgur.com and never have your pics blanked out for using too much bandwidth!

Love,

-BCK

PS: Greenstuff, even the liquid variety, is kinda blah for filling in gaps on large, flat, hard-edged surfaces. I'd suggest something like Mr. Surfacer or Squadron putty instead.

Okay, last of the "border" things got applied to all of the armour today!

They need straightening in certain places and sanding down, but just waiting for them to dry and then work can go ahead on the green stuff. Essentially the bit I actually enjoy!

Happy with it so far! :D

Well, most of my stuff has been packed away due to moving back to uni on Sunday, so work has continued on my Hellbrute!

This is just the wip pics, started on the flesh, obviously its no where near finished!

Work on the Hellbrute and Landraider has been slow recently because I've tried to get as many games in before going back to uni. Knowing that I'm taking the Landraider, the Hellbrute and a few more cultists with me to paint/convert, it seemed like a better use of my time to actually play 40k, than to just paint the whole time I'm here! :D

Well, been back at uni now for 5 weeks, and I have only just been able to crack open the paints to do a bit of work on the Hellbrute.

I wish I had more to share with people, but sadly I have just had way way way too much to do. If I am honest I shouldn't really have done any painting at all, but you know how it is when you get the itch to paint!

Hopefully after the new year I will get more time to paint, but who knows!

Thanks Ludo! I am in my final year now at uni, looking forward to having money again and being able to enjoy my hobby more again!

Light's terrible but this is a pic of the skin on the torso area so far. It's at that mid point, where it is sorta coming together, but also looks really bad! :D

More pics! Had a bit of time yesterday again so I cracked open the old paints and brushes and carried on.

It kinda irks me that I can;t just sit here and paint till I'm done. Sadly study calls :(

I'd love it if they actually released a multi part Hellbrute along the same lines as this one. It's just a shame we know they wont for a long long time :(

And thanks Ludovic! Just two more essays and my dissertation and I am finally done at uni! :D

Yeah, a multi-part kit would have been great. But then again, this one isn't too difficult to convert, if you really want to convert it, so the folks at GW are probably thinking that one isn't needed just yet.

Technically I should be spending all my time on my essays, but the urge to paint is just too much at the moment! I'd like to have spent a bit more time on this guy ideally, but I just grab the time whenever I can. Usually at night when i am exhausted, and it shows in some of the rougher parts of the paint job. Nothing I can fix. And for now the skin is done, so I can focus on the armour! Woo!
