Brother Melice Posted September 26, 2013 Share Posted September 26, 2013 After so long of drooling about starting a Horus Heresy Legion, and not being able to decide on which one, the dice was cast, and my mind made up, I was to do vote myself to the Sons of Cthonia and the Warmaster Horus. Not sure how fa this log will extend, as Forge World is so damn expensive, but I will do what I can, and as fast as I can. Finally, with the correct tools at my disposal, no more struggling to make a decent base from cat litter, now it's cork sheet. No more trying to painstakingly achieve a blend with a limited amount os colors, Maymiri Acrylics just kick some serious behind. The color range is limited, but the hues and vibrance of those colors will allow for an infinate combination of colors. So the challenge will only be in my time, and imagination. I am shooting for a competition level force, in roster organization, modeling, and painting, so all comments and advice is welcomed as always. I am generally looking for something in the lines of 1500 points worth of Sons Of Horus Legionnaires. So the list will look something like this: Legion Preator Legion Cataphractii Terminators 5x Legion Justerin Terminators 5x Legion Tactical Squad 10x Legion Tactical Squad 10x Legion Contemptor Dreadnought Legion Scimitaur Jetbikes 3x And that's all about now, the list will progress and evolve into a full playable list as the log evolves. Because the base shade is quite cool, the highlights are a bit warmer in hue. overall, a nice buildup of color and vibrance, something quite diffirent to me since my last project. That said, I'm super-excited for these, I absolutely adored your Sons of Gorgon (and occasionally still look them up for inspiration, heh). I'm also looking forward to the artwork that your super-talented hands will inevitably bring to the thread, and those Cataphractii look to be off to an awesome start with a great shade of green. Arms, shoulder pads, weapons and back pcks are all pinted seperatly. Next, a zenithal light base color is applied, another consecutive light tone is applied after that. And thats it for airbrushing, everything else is just regural paint brush, with a very deluted paint. Actually that would be sweet, maybe in a little while. And now, soem better pics for thease guys, three days scrownging for time to finish thease Word Bearers, and finally done!!! Managed to take better pics, but they still are bad, as I have no way of photographing in a light box, and tripod. At a closer magnification, i see all the imperfections of layering the paint, all theased udges and brush strokes, that never show up in life, and that bugs me so, but for a quick gaming standard it hould do. I actually loved the idea of introducing the patern designs on their armour and shoulder pads in gold, whe the idea came to me, I just could not resist, thats why I started a Demi Squad of Lorgar's little liars in the first place.
