It's looking like I was a bit ambitious with the 6 units, but I'll have the 3 done don't worry. That is the Tactical Squad (95% done), Drop pod (75% done) and Dreadnought (90% done.)

As an aside does anyone else find painting drop pods a living hell? I had planned three but one has almost had me beat. So many panels...

First of all I would like to congratulate all who took part in this first ever 30k dedicated event! I had a great time watching all those armies come to life and stand in awe with the overall quality nad commitment presented here. As at his point the first page is fully updated. If you see your entry misrepresented, contact me and I'll fix it.

 

The event showed there is a real interest in the Horus Heresy setting and makes me confident that we will see it again soon. One thing that I noticed was that the entries were heavily weighted towards the Traitor Legions - an expected occurance as the first two HH books (and assorted minis by FW) are heavilty biased towards them. But this is just the beginning and as new books roll out from FW the Loyalists will increasingly have more coverage and the interest of the hobbyists will be more balanced.

 

In the back of my head there is a Loyalists vs. Traitors event, but this may take some time before i feel that the odds are more or less even... For the time being I think the current format is the way to go. HOWEVER I will really like to hear ideas from all of you guys as to what you think the future of a Heresy-specific event should be... One of the issues that troubled me was the timing. I really wanted it to coincide with the release of Massacre as to capture the hype but that meant that it would have to coincide with the Call of Chaos - a well established event that runs on the autumn slot. So some canibalization my have taken place... Going forward I may find a permannet slot in the calendar for Loyalty and Treachery or launch one every time a new book comes our way. We'll see... As I said above I'm really open to suggestion and comments from you guys.

 

But enough of that! Let's see the awards for the brave (and quite possibly damned for eternity) participants!

Clearly 30k is gathering more momentum and it really was enjoyable seeing all the forces grow. I was pleasantly surprised by the talent on show here and that talent also inspired my own small steps into the Horus Heresy. Any future events would be appreciated equally as the Heresy unfolds, as everyone deserves more great painting stories/adventures and more inspiring miniatures to gaze upon.

Thanks also to Shadow Guard, those banners look awesome, and the effort of making one for each Legion was huge and admired!

Well thank you very much Captain Semper for creating this project. It was great!

The fire raptor was a really nice model to work with. There are a few gaps in the bottom but anyone that has some green stuff skills will get that sorted right out. The white was a pain in the back side but I am happy with it.

Thanks everybody for their kind words - this first L&T it's been great fun!

 

Now I'm between two possibilities for the future:

 

1. To find a slot in the Calendar and make this a permanent event.

2. To launch it every time a new book is released.

 

The fixed date will allow people to plan ahead both their armies and purchases while the moving date will capture the hype of the new release... I tend to go for the first solution to avoid overlapping with other events and allow people to plan ahead - but celebrating a new book with an L&T is also an appealing option that may help participation... 

 

I'm interested in your ideas.
