From Iron Cometh Strength - A HH Iron Warrior Log

Hey B&C

After bouncing around several legions and chapter for the past year I decided I need to just choose something and get started. I want to stick with the Heresy era Legions so the start of the Loyalty and Treachery event seems like the perfect excuse to get some models painted. My legion choice - the Iron Warriors.

Why the Iron Warriors? Well back in April, inspired by Insane Psychopaths fantastic Iron Warriors, I painted this guy:

I really enjoyed painting him, put together 4 other Iron Warriors but then got distracted and forgot about them. Last night I rediscovered them. The other 4 members suck, so will head back to the scrap yard, but I like the above guy, who I christened Decius. I need to do some work on him, tone done the blood, maybe reduce the hazard stripes a notch, redo the hair, and repaint the hideous base, but I can do that later.

Inspired I threw together a new sergeant to lead Decius into battle:

And repurposed this fella to be their nuncio-vox carrier:

Next I plan to produce the squads Vexillia, and start to develop some background to go with them. In the long run I plan to integrate other armour marks and the like, to create some more individual models, and I want to add some Mechanicum allies, and maybe some sort of Imperial Army attachment.

Thanks for looking, C&C appreciated.

Thanks guys.

Here's what I have pledged in Loyalty and Treachery:

Iron Warriors

Centurion (still to decide what type)

Contemptor

Terminator Squad (5)

tac marines (10)

Sicaran battle tank

Mechanicum

Magos Dominus

Thallax Cohort (3)

Castellax

I'll include the Mechanicum in here as well as I see them as part of the company, not just an allied detachment.

By the time the next HH book comes out I hope to have added another tac squad, and some breachers to these guys.

That first model is freaking brutal. Good luck with the rest of the army :)

Cheers have some other ideas that should keep the brutal feel, but dont want to over do it.

hang on a minute Demon! Iron Hands are black! wats all this with Iron warriors? you must be confused..:D

but seriously, stunning iron warrior there, I think you should be sticking to these! cant wait to see more

Thanks man, i enjoyed painting the test iron hand just couldnt decide on a setting for the army. Thats the sort of thing that stops my progress so i would rather change my mind now then later.

That's a fantastic pose.

Thanks dude :)

Fantastic models demon! How did you attach the chain sword to xerxon's backpack? Eagerly anticipating more from this project!

Its just stuck on the back, like it was maglocked to the power pack. Stupidly i stuck it with the gaurd facing out which would make it awkward to grab. Once ive switched it round I will take a pic.

Not had much time in the last few days but have put have thrown another squad member together. I was trying to find a way to add close combat weapons without sticking chainswords to everyone (knives dont cut it for me as a primary cc weapon). I may replace the needle with a clamp thing. Anywho pics...http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7433/10389998834_eff934583d.jpg

Hmmm, I like the idea, mate, but I'm not sure about that pose as it is. I'm not sure, but I think what's putting me off is actually is the marine himself; he's very static. Arms front, chest front, head front. Looks a bit like he's walking along without a care in the world. :) I'd like a slight twist in the torso and the head scanning left/riight, scorpion-like blade raised ready to kill. :)

grisly and heavy trophy there. may have a problem mounting that on a shoulder pad!

He is testing the whole 'walls fail, fists do not' thing by building a wall out of dead Imperial Fists

Is it just the angle or is there a bit missing out of his right hand side?

Yeah I need to add some greenstuff to that hand, he also needs a thumb. And some pouches around his waist.
