Still loving your bronze skills. The magos is the perfect balance of red and bronze too! Pretty spiffy looking there.

I do have to say I'm not entirely sold on the silver faceplates of the thallaxi though. It looks a little flat compared to the glossy black faceplates that are sterotypical, and definitely besides their pretty, bronze bodywork. Just a thought, keep up the awesome work!

The mechies need more love on B&C.

Thanks! The bronze quite simple to do actually.  I started with a basecoat of Vallejo Game Color  Brassy Brass, and wash it wiht Agrax Earthshade. After the wash has dried I first drybrushed it with Brassy Brass again, and then with Runelord Brass. And that's it.

As for the faceplates, I'm not too fond of the glossy black myself and kind of like the silver even though it does seem a little flat.

Because the craziness hasn't left me yet, here's a test scheme for a marine from yet another Legion I'm going to add to my forces:

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Iron%20Warriors/Test1_zps839cab8c.jpg

I do quite like how he turned out. The dark armour was shamelessly copied from Pyromancer's superb Iron Warriors.

Here are two WIP shots of some of his brothers I'm working on:

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Iron%20Warriors/BreachersUnpainted2_zps68fafbd7.jpg

And finally a WIP shot of my Sons of Horus Command Squad made using the Reaver squad parts:

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Sons%20of%20Horus/CommandSquadWIP_zps32bd856c.jpg

I do still have Reaver bodies to make the last member (and a Praetor too, as they can't always be led by Abaddon or Loken), but I'm not sure what weapons to give him. Perhaps something to strike at iniative as they already have two unwieldy weapons in a small squad. That said, I don't particularly care about the effectiveness, as long as the model looks cool. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Great Job on the Magos and the Thallax sqd seeing them painted makes me want them more.

Thanks! I love the Mechanicum staff myself, and the Magos is one of my favourite models. Can't wait for those Myrmidons to be released!

Hey, I've got that standard bearer happy.png

I like your take on the SoH colors. Too often, they seem to end up this weird seafoam green. I like yours.

Thanks! To be honest I'm still thinking whether I should go with the slightly darker colour I went with the terminators, or the brighter I used for Loken:

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/LokenSideRight_zps5350b847.jpg

Anyway, I really should be painting my SoH stuff or terrain for our Isstvan III campaign, but I've been well and truly bitten by a IV Legion bug, and the test legionary is getting some reinforcements.

The rest of his squad, still WIP:

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Iron%20Warriors/DestWIP_zps6b4b5ed1.jpg

And what would Iron Warriors be without some artillery:

Winter also finally arrived in Finland, and it's hampering my project. It's -15 C and often windy or snowing (or both) so undercoating stuff on my balcony isn't as easy.

The Iron Warriors look fantastic. I specifically love the breacher sergeant with the sword. I love the pose.

Thanks! As I said, your own Iron Warriors served as the inspiration for them. I'm quite happy with the sergeant myself. Breacher squads always make me think of Roman legions, so I decided to give him a power gladius to stab things with.

Anyway I've been busy with work and school lately, or ill so that's why I've been away for a while. Still, I haven't been completely idle the whole time and have continued working on the IV legion destroyers:

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Iron%20Warriors/DestWIP1_zpsb7e9b4e3.jpg

So that's half of the squad almost finished. The next five should follow quite quickly, provided I don't get distracted by other things. Such as these tenth legion guys:

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Iron%20Hands/IHTacSquadWIPpieni_zps1bbc48bd.jpg

Actually it was the other way around. I had started on them earlier but the Iron Warriors took my attention elsewhere,  and it was about time I began painting them too. However, I also began to work on a Forge Lord for the Xth Legion so that I can play the special Zone Mortalis scenario provided in the Horus Heresy Weekender booklet last year.

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Iron%20Hands/FLWIP_zps0a5a770c.jpg

And last, I also began to build this massive beast:

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Iron%20Warriors/DSC_0185_zps3fdc0d57.jpg

I've had it since the HH Weekender but was unable to decide the Legion I'd want to paint it as and so it has waited in the box for this long. Now I finally made up my mind. Iron Within, Iron Without!

Just having a mooch through when I saw the boarding shield sergeant. Please please please paint him! Such an excellent pose, so much character. Very nice paint job on your IW too, not sure if the highlights are too sharp for me, but that's just me. And Loken is cool too :)

Glad to see you back to work on these guys.

The destroyers are looking particularly cool.

Thanks. I've no intention of stopping to work on this crazy project

Don't worry I will paint him in in the future, but right now I'm still waiting for some extra bits for the squad (mainly phobos bolt pistols) to arrive. I was actually thinking about the same thing with the Iron Warriors, and I'm kind of undecided whether I should just continue with it or try a not so bright highlight.

Hazard stripes....I mean CHEVRONS look awesome on that rad launcher biggrin.png

And do I spy a glaive? It's soooooo much cooler than the fell blade imho

Thanks, it turned out nicely enough. I think that the next time I will use masking tape for anything larger than the grenades, though. And indeed, it's a glaive, and I too prefer it over the fellblade, though I like it too. I saw it live in the HH Weekeneder, and was instantly in love. After talking with Stuart Williamson about it, I headed straight to the sales stand.

So, despite still being slightly ill, I managed to finish both squads:

The Iron Warrior sergeant's crest is still unpainted, because I can't make up mind what about what colour I'll paint it. Black and red would probably work, but I've also considered blue or even green. What do you think?

Some progress on the Fellglaive:

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Iron%20Warriors/DSC_0187_zps0ddf6529.jpg

Still no problems with the kit so far. Had to file a tiny amount off of one plastic wheel to get a perfect fit with the tracks, but otherwise they went in quite smoothly.

Also, I got woken up during my sleep this morning, but can't say I was too unhappy about it:

Loving the Breacher Sergeant may have to steal!

Thanks for your comments everyone!

@ desthspectersgt7

I just washed the last parts for the squad, so I'll continue on them soon.

@Captain Semper & Flint13

Let's see... There's a MK 2 Land Raider for my Emperor's Children, 10 Mechanicum Tech Tralls, one of both new command sets, accesories for my Iron Warriors (and other legions). Then there are ten MKII Despoiler marines, which I'm not quite sure what to do with (as in which Legion I'll paint them as) as I intented to order 10 MK III for my IW, but apparently made a mistake. Also, there's the rest of my Iron Hands force: 20 Cataprachtii Terminators, a Land Raider Proteus, and 10 Medusan Immortals. And finally, there are four Zone Mortalis tiles to complete my Zone Mortalis board.

Ha! I'm just buying faster than I paint, which is nothing new for me and a habbit that I'm unlikely to get rid off soon. Anyway, thanks for your kind words Chaplain Mortis.

This week I've mostly painted terrain, breaking out my airbrush to get work done on a lot of these:

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/DSC_0216_zpse30b54af.jpg

Since my airbrush was out anyway, I decided to pay some attention to this old warrior who's sat on my shelves for far too long, complaining about the lack of paint:

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Sons%20of%20Horus/Dread1pieni_zps0f9c31d4.jpg

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Sons%20of%20Horus/Dread2pieni_zps3ba630e9.jpg

I've had him since the time Betrayal came, so it he really has been waiting for a while. Also, while wathcing olympic ice hockey (Yay! Finland made it to the semifinals!) I continued working on the Sons of Horus Command squad as well, and they are almost finished now:

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Sons%20of%20Horus/SoHCommand2pieni_zpsd59849a8.jpg

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Sons%20of%20Horus/SoHCommand1pieni_zps744a0286.jpg

I'll get to the Iron Warriors soon, but there was another reason to paint some SoH, as tomorrow I'll have my second Isstvan III campaign came, and the Command Squad might well get used. I'll probably make a battle report of it like I did with our first campaign game.

Oh wow, that gold is something special. It seriously looks like your Astartes spend plenty of time working on it with whatever the 40k equivalent of a toothbrush is.

I would like to see a little more "pop" from the eyes though. Maybe a last tiny highlight? As it is, they get a little lost under those golden eyebrows ^_^

Keep up the good work!
