I can't seem to get it to work.

What's the problem?

I had to mess about a bit, eventually got it working by using the Kindle PC app and the .mobi version.

I might just leave it. I don't know enough to really do much.

I downloaded it, but can't seem to get Battlescribe to read it.

Wait, are you talking about the codex or my battlescribe file?

Battlescribe is easy. You just put the .cat file into the Battlescribe/catalogues folder, then open battlescribe and click 'new list'.

Right now I'm running it on the epub version using a Firefox add-on.  Works nicely and was easy to set up.

On topic, Kyrinov and Confessors are gone.  Surprised I didn't notice sooner.

Overall I have some disappointment with how the rules shaped up.  There are some good things to it, such as getting the old Witchhunters era Deny The Witch and Relics back, removing the Dominion Squad special weapon limitation, and Repentia finally getting a dedicated transport, but there is much still to be desired.  I like the new Act of Faith system, but the Acts of Faith themselves feel too lackluster at first look.  Abilities which we formerly could spam (albeit with a lot of randomness) are now more reliable to use when we want to, but rarer and quite honestly less powerful.  Some were outright nerfed, and others I'm not quite sure I see the advantage of.  The Dominions getting Ignores Cover even if equipped with Flamers, the Command Squad's Act is now literally only useful for repositioning where before it granted Relentless, which all I could see that for is maybe for getting an IC moved quickly, or moving an aura quickly to where it would be more useful.  Other areas do make sense.  Saint Celestine never dying was annoying to many people, and she was very point effective, but I still think she could stand to have Eternal Warrior.

All in all I do feel a conscious effort was made to resolve the issues of the previous Codex, and in many cases they succeeded there.  Just by the fact that the old 5+ Deny The Witch is back and Repentia got dedicated transports is enough for me to feel like someone really did listen to us.  But at the same time I fear that new issues have been introduced to replace the old.

I have a confusion on the Sororitas Command Squad.  The new version starts as 5 Celestians and allows upgrades to Dialogus and Hospitaler for one Celestian.  It also mentions upgrades for banners and such, then finally says that "Any other Celestian" may equip any weapon from the Heavy Weapons, Assault Weapons, and Melee Weapons list.

... Does this mean 5 Heavy Bolters is possible?

Over all it seems pretty good to me. Without getting into specifics...

Faith scaling is perfect now that all powers are one shot. Simulacrum Imperiali are half-priced and let you use your faith act twice, but if it gets sniped, you can't attempt even the once.

Battle hymns are three Priest specific Acts of faith that can be used every assault phase (!!!!) Includes:

 - some defensive squad-wide re-rolls(!!!)

 - re-roll to wound (squad wide)

- and gives the priest Smash

Command squads are much reduced in price and even with the bells and whistles (Diaologous and Hospitaler) are competitively priced.

Doms act gives Ignores Cover to the unit and they can take four special weapons out of the gate.

Repentia are a few points cheaper, lose FnP in General, but their act gives them FnP(3+)... meh. Neural Whips are generally better against low T models with Ld 8 or less, but WAY worse vs T 6 or better. Also can take transports. Speaking of which...

Rhinos went up 5 pts, extra armor went down to 6th ed pricing. Laud hailers are kinda pricy but re-rolling a failed AoF could be worth it. Immolaters are properly priced, unlike razorbacks this edition.

BoStL is back, but meh. Litany of Faith is good. The relic banner has serious CC potential for a good portion of the army and for relatively cheap, which is strange for the sisters. Force multiplying SoB's CC potential is, well, odd.

Storm bolters and heavy bolters are up in points, heavy flamers are way, way down. probably a side-grade overall, but an upgrade if you've had trouble smoking Tau outta ruins.

Wow, I don't know where any negative reactions are coming from. Celestine got worse, but that was inevitable. Still don't know HOW they managed to keep Celestian Squads so bad. They still manage to be useless. Ah well. Besides that, tons of things got better. Much better than before, although the editing isn't up to par with the real codecies. The Apoc section in particular grants the Seraphim formation two special rules they get already. Someone should have spotted that.

Wait wait... so I no longer get to use my "priest with plasmagun" as anything now?  Lame.... please tell me I still get to use this guy, I've had him since the late 90s...

Download the epub to a desktop/laptop.  Go to www.zamzar.com and convert it to a pdf.  Open with Adobe Acrobat.  Print a hard copy (GW allows 1 hard copy with license).  I suck at computers, and had the same problem.  Another site helped me along.  I am only printing relevent game stuff, not the fluff and pics.  Good luck.

Ministorum Priests are still available and can still take plasma guns.  They're also much cheaper this time around, and seem ultimately much improved.

Oh thank goodness!!  You've saved my army :)  Minor changes, good or bad, I can deal with, but the lack of Father Presence would make me cry...

Crusaders and DCA are limited to power swords only now? What kind of censored.gif is that?

Celestine before the 20 point increase: 50% chance of getting back up every round she's dead.

Celestine after the 20 point increase: 83% chance of getting back up the one time.

I'm not good enough at math to know how I feel about that yet...

The power weapon thing was always a tweak that we were taking advantage of due to the old codex wording. As for Celestine, I feel it was inevitable. She was pretty cheap for all that to begin with, and the fact that she could get up every round was a huge annoyance to enemy players, especially at the last turn of the game where depending on how it falls could end with Celestine getting up to contest an objective and the opponent being unable to do anything about it, despite killing her three times. Also of note, Celestine now gets back up with full wounds rather than d3.

Yeah they are, but they felt obligated to keep the blurb about what confessors do and kyrinov as the arch confessor- and even gave stats for his hammer as a relic, but not to actually field him.  You'll notice Kyrinov isn't available on the GW website in the AS section either.

Reading through the codex, I'm severely underwhelmed; but what could I expect? GW bungling sisters once again has become painfully par for the course.

Thanks Session, now wondering if I want to change to the new. Just used mine the other night for the first time in awhile. Against CSM, he unassed his land raider and attacked my PE's and I won the combat taking his warlord out with his squad, it was amazing. So just 3 attacks now and no adds, hmm. Armor still the same or did they make them monstrous creatures?

As for the dex itself, well I figured it was gonna be just an update. I hoped for more on the deny the witch rolls and I guess we got it. Hoped for cheaper hvy flamers and knew St. Celestine would go up. All in all with the few things I have read on the forums, I believe the army is still viable. I'm one that plays a pure sisters army so never use any of the male models anyway. Just fluffy for me that way.

Furyou Miko, only thing I see wrong unless it has been changed.  As I have not had a chance to play since July is the defense line is listed as 75.  Last I knew it was 50.  Also I dont see a entry in the code for Arch-Confessor Kyrinov.  I appreciate the forgeworld items as well but they are not allowed in my area of play.

Given that you can not stack Acts of Faith why would you ever have a Canoness join one of the melee centric units or why you would use her act of faith at all?

Hatred granted by her Act of Faith has to be done in the first round or it wont work but Furious Charge from the Celestians and the Fleet and Move Through Cover on the command squad need to be used in the first round of combat when a unit charges and the Repentia will need to used their ability in the first round because if they dont there wont be a 2nd round.

All around I like it. Mostly I'm just jazzed to be able to legally field sisters, but I think its a good list. I don't see it being worthy of complaint.

Celestine was too good before. I think an 80%+ chance to get up with full wounds once is actually better than unlimited 50% chances at d3 wounds.

The priests look fantastic and I can finally bring priests for my IG again since the IG priest is worthless and the Battle Hymns have nothing restricting them from working on battle brothers. If only they could satisfy the mandatory ally HQ choice. But a canoness could be a nice buff to an allied CC unit also.
