Aldric Reichfaust, Custom Chapter Master

I have been knocking around this custom Character in my head for quite some time now, and figured it was finally time to put pen to paper (or finger to keyboard in this case!). I have always envisioned my namesake Reichfaust to be a Chapter Master who is a ranged powerhouse rather than a close-combat one; and being that there is no allowance for this in the current rules, I present below my custom profile for him.
 
Now while he is pretty strong, in a world where some named CMs cost upwards of 275pts, I don't think he's too powerful to exist. I have omitted Orbital Bombardment and Chapter Tactics for now, also. C&C please, and any suggestions for a reasonable points cost would be appreciated too.

Wargear:
 
  • The Rook: A tall and rather imposing storm shield, this relic of the Chapter deflects blows by emitting shockwaves of energy outward when struck, knocking attackers aside and impeding their assault. The bearer has a 3+ invulnerable save, and counts as being equipped with defensive grenades. Furthermore, so strong is the shield that it can be used as a weapon in close combat, with the following profile: Strength: User+1, AP: nil, Concussive. However, this comes at a cost; as the shield's weight slows the attacker noticeably, lowering initiative by 1 (negative modifier included in profile).
     
  • Relic of the Mechanicus: Reichfaust and his predecessors have always maintained close relations with their Forge-masters, allowing them to operate on very long leashes. In turn, the Chapter has received several rare and powerful artifacts from the Adeptus Mechanicus over the centuries, some of which Reichfaust actively fields in battle. He may choose to field any one of the following weapons;
    • "Cerebus" Relic Hurricane Bolter: For all intents and purposes this is just a standard Hurricane Bolter that can fire the special issue ammunition normally available to Sternguard Veterans (Hellfire rounds, Vengeance rounds, Kraken bolts, etc).
       
    • "Due Fury" Relic Plasma-caster:  S7 AP2 Template, Gets Hot!, Emergency Vent; on a turn in which Due Fury overheats, you may choose to instead place a 5" blast marker centred on Reichfaust. All models under the blast suffer a S4 AP2 hit, including Reichfaust himself.
       
    • "Spear of Longinus" Relic Auto-cannon: R48" S7 AP4 Salvo 3/2, Armourbane. An autocannon loaded with armour-piercing rounds and a modified drum-loader designed to improve rate of fire.
       
  • Grafted Occulum: A bionic occular matrix grafted directly into the eye socket, this relic grants the bearer the Night-vision USR and increases BS by 1 (bonus already included in profile.)

Aaaah, I do apologize. I thought the guy was somehow lugging around 3 giant guns.

 

yeah, in that case I think he's fine...

 

 

Do you not think his Auto-cannon should be a Str8 Ap3 gun like the more dangerous Hades variants? It's a relic after all...

Haha--note to self; create new version with all three weapons! :lol:

 

Anyways I did consider going for that style of autocannon but figured it would be TOO versatile--not only would it do really well against vehicles, with S8 AP3 it would also be insta-gibbing any MEQs, so why take the Hurricane Bolter at all? Although I would be keen to make some kind of sniper-cannon for long-ranged infantry engagement.... Hmmm, watch this space!
