I *love* the red you've got on that tactical squad. Any chance you'd share the method? If this army was a super hero movie they'd call it a gritty reboot and it's exactly as I imagine blood angels.

For the red I prime black all over, then spray Vallejo German Red Brown primer from above only, then German Dark Yellow primer on select highlight areas like the top of the shoulder pads. Then a coat of Vallejo Model Air Red RLM23 all over, which is quite transparent so the previous tones show through giving a deep, dark effect. Edge highlight with Vallejo Model Color Amarantha Red, some chips etc and done!

I can't believe how long it's been since I started these but here are the finished 'first wave' of Death Company...

I wanted them to have a no-nonsense look without all the 'dangly bits', and be slightly worn with dents and scratches but not overly damaged as they're not supposed to last long in battle...

I don't know how I missed this! Like Veteran Sergeant said, darker Blood Angels look so good :happy.:

It' not often you see Mark VIII armour (never looked quite right in my eyes), but I do like that one!

Thanks for the comments all. I was going for a darker and more subtle theme to what you normally see on Death Company and it sounds like that has come across so I'm happy :)

@ Sincain, break out the red paint!

@ reckoning the black was pretty simple...

1) Prime black

2) Drybrush VMC* 166 Dark Grey

3) Drybrush VMC 164 Dark Bluegrey

4) Heavy Nuln Oil wash

5) Edge highlight VMC 162 Basalt Grey

The flamer is from forgeplanet.com
