Blood & Gore, the Heinrich Way

Recommended Posts

Hello ladies and gents,

Figured I would share the technique I use to show blood and gore on my models, so here you go.

Supplies:

- Painted Miniature

- Good Detail Brush (I use a Winsor & Newton Series 7 Kolinsky Sable size 0)

- VGC Red Gore

- VGC Black

- Vallejo Gloss Varnish

Step I:

Pour out a dab of VGC Red Gore. Use this to paint the areas of blood spatter, I find pseudo dry-brushing gives a good effect for blood splatter. Also remember less is more when it comes to blood.

Remember with Chainsaw weapons, all the teeth are going to be bloody as they are spinning at such a rapid rate that each tooth is gonna get a taste of meat.

The point of impact will have the greatest concentration.

Step II:

Next you'll make a 1:1 mix of Red Gore and Black. This is used to imitate the areas of congealed blood and bits of gore. Pain this into the recesses and at the end of blood streaks as these are the areas where the blood is likely to pool and be the thickest.

Step III:

Finally take the Gloss Varnish and paint over any area touched by the blood, this will give it that fresh, just-been-shed, look.

That's all there is to it, here's the finished product! Hope you guys and gals find this useful.
