3rd Annual Winter's Advance

It's been far too quiet here inside the Fang...

The cold winds are rising, piercing at the lungs like jagged knives, while freezing exposed flesh. The winds howls in fury, bringing forth the unrelenting storm from the north. So it begins... helwinter is here, and only the strongest can survive.

- Pack Expansion Rules -

1. A pack, vehicle or character of your choice (Space Wolf related).

2. No-Later-Than completion date of 28 February 2014 standard terran date (Canada Mountain Time).

3. No piling in - one oath and one oath only.

(Any extra Wolves you bring to the Fang will simply be considered added strength - but not a part of your oath).

4. Oath Keepers will receive the Winter's Advance token - and many a saga to be sung around the camp fire.

5. Must show/post WIP pictures and completed oaths on this thread or you're more than welcome to make your own topic to showcase your work.

This pack expansion should give people enough time from both before and right after Christmas to make and complete their vow.

Base coat or not, it is still a work in progress is it not? The point of these events are merely here to motivate, inspire and bring back that camaderie into the Fang.

 

I've asked Max to do up another token for us, for those who will complete their vows. Stay tuned!

love me some terminators, quick to build, quicker to paint, and brutal on the table top. the plan is to one day have enough to run a loganwing

fenrisian wolves. I don't actually like these models too much, I prefer the others I have, available from reaper minis... but i intend to play lots of games at gw so it seems a bit rude. i took mine last time, and mentioned it to the manager, he kinda shuffled around and looked awkward. he didn't say anything or make a fuss but i could tell it was probably against the rules, so i don't want to put him in that position again.

and my 5 wolfguard. now i made my vow before i checked to see what i actually had, so i am hoping the rune priest on bike will suffice.

so that's my vow, really glad this topic came along because i didn't have much motivation to paint these minis. aside from the rune priest none of them are really nessesary for my army to function, so they could have sat around for awhile.

the termies will be super quick, the fenris wolves too, the wolfguard and bike will slow me down so i will save them for last. the standards wont be too high for this vow, time is of the essence wile im painting these i will be planning my next expansion so it will be nice just to chill and focus on painting for awhile.

here are some WIP's of what i got done today. it is not much progress as i need to figure out what to do for some parts of it ... but it at least has a base section for most all i pledged to build. 

 

 

these are just the cut out 40mm bases that i am going to use for my objective markers ... the plan is to have one with a fallen Space Wolf of some sort, one to be a supply cache, and the third one i am undecided on. Each one i am going to have an area that is flat so a dice can rest on it to designate the points value in a game. 

 

 

here is my first terrain part. It is an old destroyed Rhino, with a hill beside it. need to make some sort of rubble to fill in around the back side and edge of the rhino to make it look like it has been there for a while .. then some rocky croppings on the hill part. 

 

i am not sure yet if i want to build up some sort of bunker, cover type area on top of it all or not yet. 

 

still debating on my other terrain part i am going to make ...
