So here we are, a short while later, and I think we can basically call this guy finished:

You've outdone yourself again. I think this might be your finest work. Not in terms of scale, but for the personality and overall success of the conversion. I wasn't sure how it would look, but all the little details come together and there's just no mistaking this guy for anyone else.

@ JeffTibbetts: Cheers, mate! That is very nice of you to say! Want to hear something funny, though? The model only really started looking unmistakably like Angron the moment I painted on those facial tattoos ;)

The end result is really brutal looking. Love the subtle blood splashes, and the thracian helmet is a cool detail that adds character to the piece. Simple and yet impressive as hell, kudos!

Loving the under-armored Angron. I think I like him more than the forgeworld version. Kinda how I'd imagine him looking late-heresy, just before ascending

The Hydra: I've actually made my peace with the bunny ears obscuring some of the detail, as it's not exactly detail that's vital for the look and feel of the model -- and there's always the fact that BrotherJim has already ok'ed the head, so yeah ;)

Fair does, I read on your blog it was donated by Brother Jim after I posted that, it is a great model. Angron looks great.

Thanks must go, once again, to Augustus b'Raass, who provided that gladiator helmet on the base, if I recall correctly. In an interesting parallel, both my Angron conversions so far feature MaxMini bitz provided by Auggie -- go figure ;)
