Have put together some fluff to explain it all but basically Marneus was reading Gaius Julius Caesar,s Gallic Wars etc and decided to put together a guard company made up of the very best of the Ultramarines. This company goes where he goes and is always in the thick of the battle. They are quite capable of taking on ten times there number and prevailing every time.

Their colour scheme is basically purple with various insignia, shoulder pad differences etc.

I love the tactics and I reckon marines are the most flexible and toughest of fighters.

Anyway I have wafted on enough, glad to meet you Brothers, Ken

Welcome to B&C!

I must say at first hand that the Ultramarines are strict followers of the Codex Astartes and that such would never exist (it would be considered heresy, in 10.000 years the only change in the Ultramarines has been the creation of the Tyranid War Veterans). But on the other hand, the 1st Company could on occasion be considered his praetorian guard.

Of course you can always make up your own chapter with the colour scheme you described. But then again, they are your minis and you are free to do what you want.

thanks for the heads up about the heresy Frater Domus, didnt think of that! well everytime i play 1500pts or more i take Marneus and have yet to lose a game, either win or draw and I thought why not make up a Praetorian guard for him. Maybe old Marneus is getting an ego a bit like Julius did and has committed this heresy I just hope there is no Brutus in the ranks!!!! Anyway I,m having fun with this, like i said I,m more about tactics than anything else and my guys sure do well at least so far. Hi to you to Calidus and thanks for the welcome, by for now Brothers.

No problem brother, although I must point out that my name is Olisredan rather than Calidus. Redemptio Calidus was the title I was given when I ascended from the ranks of the Frater Domus to Mod-hood. msn-wink.gif (I believe this section of the rules thread might elucidate on the User Groups here on B&C)

hey Anazeil what are the Tyranid veterans I have never heard of them? thanks Brother

Tyranid Hunters (aka Tyrannic War Veterans), I believe they were called, were introduced in the 4th edition codex as specialised troops for the Ultramarines. There was perhaps four specific models released for them, too.

Here's a pic:
