Immolation Rifle

So I got bored one day, and sat down and made a character for deathwatch with the idea of maybe some day getting to use him. He is a Librarian and a Kill Marine. My idea is he largely roams from one planet to another hunting down xenos and heretics. Regardless of who he is fighting alongside one weapon that I really liked the idea of is the Immolation Rifle. Think of it as essentially being a slightly longer range flamer that's easier to reload, but doesn't damage mechanical targets and doesn't actually light things on fire. I then got the brilliant idea of wanting to make my librarian model I'm making for my army be this exact guy. Problem is I'm not sure how exactly I would make an Immolation rifle for a marine. The Inquisitor with the obvious flaming rifle would work but that will take a lot of time and effort plus might still not be the right size. After all it is supposed to have more range than the normal flamer.

So I'm curious to see if anyone else has any ideas that might work. So far I'm thinking mixing the front end of the flamer with a melta gun or plasma gun and then using a little greenstuff to make the conversion less obvious. I also plan on later adding a chainblade attachment underneath the gun but that'll be some time off.

As the dictionary says 'to immolate' means 'to set oneself on fire', I don't think you want it to look like a flamer as this would make it clear that your librarian was shooting the fire at him. So, the idea, to me, would be a type of projectile that bursts into some form of blue psychic fire when it hits the target.

I would consider converting a bolter or similar weapon, with wires into the psychic hood to show that he psychically adds power to the round so that when it penetrates a target it sets them on fire from the inside out so that they look as though they have spontaneously ignited - immolated!

Now imo  and after reading the description on lexicanum (and the book) it seems to work more like a melta weapon but rather then emitting break your face/anything else microwaves its just superheated air. id probs go for something more like a melta gun as a base then some conversion and a little jiggery pokery and you should be fine.

Templaris that was one of my ideas, and actually the second one I tried, which was met with success. I'll have some pics up once i actually get around to taking them. I simply combined a melta gun with the flamer end for the new tactical squad combi flamer. (it does function almost identically to the Deathwatch Flamer anyway)
