Awesome models! I love what you have done so far. Could you possibly share how you made the diamondplate bases? I am assuming its made from sheet styrene, but do you know the size I should buy if I want to make scenic bases like this for my DW?

I have decided to start the Death wing project of with Brother Lemnos, who is my counts as Brother Omnio.

He is still very much a WIP but I like where things are going.

I have used the chainsword arm because after I add a lens or two to it I believe that it will make a nice scanner or targeting device worthy of one as technologically inclined as Lemnos.

The servo arm is still WIP, and I am going to add cables/wires, and determine how best to mount and position it.

I plan to further personalize him through the use of red in his heraldry to distinguish his connection to the mechanicus.

Brother Lemnos is analytical, driven by logic, and intellectually curios almost to the extreme. These qualities often lead to Lemnos withdrawing from his brethren between missions to analyze, compile, and process the information and experiences of previous missions. Lemnos' isolating behavior has lead his battle-brothers to perceive him as aloof. This perception does not however tarnish the respect and value his battle-brothers place in his ability to provide them with sound tactical analysis in even the most voracious of actions/situations.

How the heck did you get your primer to come out that smooth? My models always look too thick or like sandpaper.

I just use regular GW spray primer, and make sure that I thin my paints and do multiple layers.

These all look amazing. I really love how you have written backgrounds for all of them. Your painting and modelling skills are awesome. Love the ideas.

Tim

Thanks, I still have a few more to write up and a paint.

I just picked the size that I liked the look of best. The trick I used was to take a Terminator to the store to ensure that the size looked good/to scale.

Great stuff!  The libby is exceptional, my other favorites are the tech terminator and the 'bring it' posed terminator.

Great timing too as GW is releasing rules to use Deathwing, Wolfguard terminators, and Ultramarine terminators in space hulk.  Only problem is they are download files only (iTunes/ibooks, etc), and they are $15 a piece!!  However for $15 you can use these guys and add in the DA halberd and plasma cannons :)

The techmarine has met with a grizzle end! A hobby saw and scalpel were involved.

The good news is that out of the wreckage is emerging an Apothecary conversion that will count as the lightening claw SH Terminator. Stay tuned.

I haven't been around these boards for quite a while, as I lost interest in playing 40k. In fact you could deem me one of the Fallen as I used to play DA when I did play in what seems like an age ago (please, no interrogation). In fact my only fully painted 40k army was my Deathwing, long since sold on eBay. Over the Christmas period I downloaded Space Hulk for the PC in the Steam sale, as it was bargain at less than £2. Playing that over the New Year has rekindled my interest in 40k, or at least of painting up some Deathwing again. And that has led me to this thread, which has turned out to be a real inspiration.

I am just wondering Grimm Blade if you have any more progress to show?

You have nearly completed one squad, only missing the sergeant, but what about the second squad?

The Librarian turned out nice painted up (is he based yet?), that was a nice conversion. As was the Techmarine, I am really impressed with the folded servo arm, it is excellent, really original as I can't think if I have ever seen that done before. But is he finished and paint up?

However the real question I wanted to ask is about your bases. I am just wondering why the switch from the bases in the first post to more Space Hulk terminator style bases?

In the mean time, here are 5 of the bases that I have created to date:

I really liked those bases, they look good and fit well with the Space Hulk board aesthetically. I mentioned before about wanting to paint up some Deathwing for Space Hulk, well technically I actually started doing so back in 2009 for the 3rd edition release. I still have the stuff from then knocking around.

The bases I came up with the look like this:

I didn't want to hide the artwork of the Space Hulk boards too much, hence the use of so much mesh. But I also really like how the bases on your models looked to begin with, and how the reduced size bases look on your fully painted models. I can't decide which way to go now:

  1. Use my original bases.
  2. Create some more bases like yours in the first post.
  3. Use reduced size bases like the original SH models, and how you have ended up going with your models.

Each has its pros and cons, shame I am indecisive.

If you manage to do a two handed grip with the Terminator, please post how! biggrin.png

This any good for you?

I really like Grimm Blade's idea of having Ezekial in TDA, and might give that a go if I get the time, using something similar to the above sergeant. If I do, I will try and do a tutorial for it.
