[WIP] Redemptor (Super Heavy Artillery Tank)

Hi there,

I posted few weeks ago a topic to ask the name of a model seen on Apocalypse book on page 240.

1521284_10202302390217001_2050831957_n.j

I asked today to GamesWorkshop: Digital Editions facebook page the same question, and I got this answer:

"...I don't think that's actually a named tank. Don't let that stop you converting one up mind, it just means that as well as an awesome tank, you get to make up a cool name for it.

Mythical beasts are always a good bet, as is 'insert-cool-word' Sword/blade..."

So I begin to plan how I will begin my model. And I called him "Redemptor", with a Redemption Cannon.

I will use a Macharius Chassis as base pattern, but I will boost the size.

For the Cannon, the Redemption Cannon, I choose to use multiple parts of the Baneblade box set to make my big cannon.

I patched together:

- Stormsword Cannon.

- Baneblade turret Cannon.

- Hellhammer Cannon "mouth".

Here are images of the Cannon: *12.January.2014*

Full Cannon (with earthshaker next to it for size comparison):

Then I'll need to buy a lots of Plastic Card to continue the model. And also some Sagex ^^'

I'll spend some time the coming week to draw the model on paper.

I just draw the Redemptor Chassis Tracks today. *13.January.2014*

First test of side view Full Version of the Redemptor done. *15.January.2014*

I made two version with Gimp, one with an higher constrasts to make the details looks better.

Here are the pictures:

Today I just tested to draw the full Redemptor upside view.

And here is the result: *21.January.2014*

Redemptor Full Test Upside:

At the moment, the cannon is more looking to a Bombard Cannon rather than the Cannon from the Picture in the book.

But I'll probably make both variants.

I'll update the main post when I got new stuff to show.

Feel free to comment, give tips, bring ideas.

That is an awesome looking cannon!
After looking at the picture, I would say that you could probably use some imperial building pieces such as arches and windows for this build to help give it that dark gothic feel.

Squadron green putty, Mr. Surfacer, or something of the like. Hell, even superglue would be better than GS. It's a terrible option for filling gaps like that. (I know, the "game" model industry makes GS out to be this amazing substance that's great for everything, but it's really not.)

Can you make me a highlight on paint of the area you want me to fill? I'm not sur to exactly understood what you wanted me to do x)

And I worked a lot with GS, to make my Cadians turning into Steel Legion / Kriegers by giving them Trench Coat, and I just love GreenStuff.

I just found that, by searching something else on google, that will help me for the biggest part of the cannon.

I would tike to make a mecanism with the barrel recoil, but this will be hardcore to make. (I will need legos)

I just bought some Plastic Card sheets today.

I used Lego Digital Designer software to make my Chassis Tracks first try.

Then I draw it on paper, with Land Raider Chassis to get comparison and also because I based 50% of my Redemptor Chassis on Land Raider Chassis.

The Redemptor Chassis Tracks size:

- Width: ~23cm / 9"

- Height: ~7,5cm / 3"

Here are the picture of it: (I'll also update the main post with them)

So today I've draw a second test of the Chassis Tracks, with some little changes in the base shape.

And I've draw the first test of the Cannon part I've not done atm. I took exemple on the Bombard cannon to make this part of the Redemption Cannon.

I've also prepared the size of the "Cathedral" emplacment on the side of the tank.

I screened the "blueprint" with the part of the Cannon I've already made on 12.January.

I'll also update the main post with those images.

I just noticed I failed one detail on my last draw.

I plan to make the cannon recoil possible, and the part that can recoil isn't correctly draw atm. Not enought important to be re-uploaded, but it will be on the next one.

So I've redraw the Cannon part I failed, and I've draw the Mecanism System that will allow the cannon to change the shooting Angle.

I will use the same mecanisme as the first Steam Locomotives, two "wheels" linked with a bar.

Here are the pictures:

Two words: Freaking Epic! thumbsup.gifthumbsup.gifthumbsup.gif

If you don't mind me asking, the pics you found with the bombards on the baneblade chassis, were those 1/35 Karl Mortar guns modeled into the chassis?

That looked pretty awesome to me as well.

Apologies, I should have used better english.

I am familiar with the WW II artillery pieces, I am assuming that they came from model kits vs. scratch built? Would you mind posting the link for the source of those pictures?

Hopefully that made more sense.

Cheers,

This is beyond good, when you are done I hope you post build instructions or start selling casts

Selling cast? I don't have anything to make cast XD

But sure I'll post the build instructions, but not when it will be done. I will post them everytime I got a part ready.

But I'm not done with the Drawing atm, I still need to prepare the central part.

I hope I can begin plastik building next week.
