Fracture Posted January 29, 2014 Share Posted January 29, 2014 Evening people.It's been years since I've posted anything painting wise on any forums but I've finally settled on a new project and with FW starting to release some models I decided it was time to dive right into an army I've wanted to do for ages - Night Lords.I particularly like the Night Lords pre Heresy, The idea that while the Wolves were there to be executioners the Eighth were sent in when an example had to be made. I'm aiming for my guys to by from the time just after Curze was found, still horrible and nasty but before they lost themselves to their own lusts and wants.Sadly there's none playing 30K rules near me that I know so it's just regular 40k. For the pre Heresy list I'm using the Raven Guard rules from the regular marine dex as I feel it has lots of possibilities for conversion and counts as to represent a pre Heresy era army compared to the chaos dex.Anyway, enough chit chat. Pictures of things so far.1st Hunter squad.Painted this squad up as a tester so not pushed the boat out with them so far. Now I'm happy with green stuffing flayed skin I'll come back to them and pimp them up. Also need to practice the terror marking on the helms before they go onto these guys. That Shrike counts-as is probably the scariest Night Lord I've seen in a while, and that's saying something. Very cool, brother. I'd love to see what else you got up your sleeve. Pyromancer - Those are indeed Drazhars blades on the butcher and although its bit very clear in the pic the It's the flail from the lotr Witch King that he's holding to represent a thunder hammer. People were umming and ahhing about their looks when they came out but I knew those Night Raptor helmets had promise! Nice touch using Drazhar's blades as well, Those blades always had that creepy surgical look to them that just works for terror-inspiring groups like the Night Lords and DE. Btw, i will humbly suggest the Carcharadon's chapter tactics instead. They cause fear and some sort of bonus after killing a unit (rage I believe). Athrawes Posted January 30, 2014 Share Posted January 30, 2014 I actually really like the understated Lightning, it adds to the models menace without distracting from the darkness of the armor. Their motto is "in midnight clad" for a reason, their armor should be dark and you have nailed that. Well done on all of these, these are easily some of the best night lords I have ever seen.
