When a madman appears thoroughly sane, indeed, it is high time to put him in a straight

jacket.

- Edgar A. Poe, Ancient

Terran Philosopher - M2

Thus it was that the monstrous children of the Night Haunter gathered, drawn together by the scent of weakness and prey. They came crawling forth from their dark lairs and macabre realms like ghouls, thirsting for blood and mortal fear.  From all corners of the galaxy they came, and from all ages as well, for the infernal tides of the warp obey not the laws of time and space.  Indeed, some bore the scars and trappings of thousand-year veterans, stained by sin and twisted by hatred.  While others came bearing strange arms and armor not seen since the terrible days of the Great Heresy, the blood of former brothers still wet upon their hands.  Seldom has this galaxy been forced to endure such a vile collective of cruelty, bloodlust, and terror.  If such a gathering has indeed come to pass, then may Gods have mercy on our souls...

To kick things off I present the 15th Company, lead by the venerable Hashec Tor, the "Hammer of Nostramo." This army has been a real labor of love for me and I strove to capture a scavenged and pirate-like feel, while also showing the steady slide into corruption that comes from bargaining with the Gods. If you would like to keep up with all the latest happenings for the 15th Company just click on the link in my signature, otherwise sit back and enjoy. Ave Dominus Nox.

Hail, brothers and sisters. Good hunting to you and may your forces strike fear in the hearts of the Imperial lapdogs.

I herewith present you with the forces of 47th company, The Night's Reapers, led by Contemptor Captain Tol Zhaeqal. If you would like to keep up with the haps of the 47th Company then please click on the link in my signature. Ave Dominus Nox. I'll update this post when new units are finished and went through a photo editing process.

Tol Zhaeqal, Contemptor Captain of the Night's Reapers. Zhaeqal was interred in the Contemptor in 903.M34 after having lost over half of his lower right body in a drop pod accident. Zhaeqal personally gave the order to replace his body with that of the then-occupant of the dreadnought, Chapter Master Hakor Zhil, who had been interred exactly a year after the reunion of the VIII Legion with its Primarch. Zhil was removed and left to die from starvation, cold and blood loss on the ramp of the very drop pod that cost Zhaeqal his legs and pelvis.

8th Claw, "The Razor's Edge", led by Brother Sergeant Yurth Khalis. Khalis is despised by Tol Zhaeqal for his weakness to the whispers of Chaos, as evidenced by his grossly mutated arm. Zhaeqal tolerates Khalis (for now) however, because of the tactical advantage of his Claw's cannons. Zhaeqal demands regular and inordinate tribute from Khalis, including fingers of his mutated hand.

13th Claw, "Fealty's Demise", led by Brother Zhar Valek. Valek took command of Fealty's End after killing it's former Sergeant, brother Das Rokhil, and has a personal rivalry with Yurth Khalis of 8th claw. Valek currently receives the highest favour of Contemptor Captain Tol Zhaeqal.

Beautiful Models.
Tanith Ghost, I love that you have an ascended model of your lord.
Agustus, I love that fire raptor, but I'm not sure I'd admit that it used to be Brother Heinreich's Hashec Tor's whistlingW.gif

OH! So that's what a male fire raptor looks like. Explains my baby storm eagle!

But seriously Heinrich, how'd you let that get past you? You think a whole contemptor trying to make off with your air support would raise a few eyebrows.

Holy heathens(1000)!!! That model is insane!!! very characterful. Kudo's to you, sir!

The gendered designation refers to the vehicle's weapon load-out. Typically in military vehicles, when there are load-outs for different battlefield roles of the same type of armoured vehicle, the light caliber anti-infantry role is designated 'female', while the heavier, anti-armour load-out is called 'male'. The raptor has the anti armour reaper battery, hence the 'male' desigmation. :):)

But my designation of "daddy" Fire Raptor is funnier.

Also, censored.gif Heinrich and I are still tied for likes. We both just have a lot more of them. Thanks guys!

@1000heathens: I love your paint scheme!! The texture of the lighter blue looks like rain almost. Very moody and unique!!

I'm working towards getting something up here as well. Today is for painting Menerva. I'll be finished sooner than later, I hope!! :)

**Update to my gallery post.

@ 1000Heathens - That teal-ish Nightlord is crazy good. I think because it's such a unique scheme. I love the tattered wings and tarnished, ancient looking armor. His eyes are blank too, which is particularly creepy. Good job!

Second post for the 47th Company.

The company includes two squads of Plague Marines. I know, I know, our midnight Clad friends look down on worshippers of Chaos, but hey, Vandred was corrupted by Tzeentch, Uzas by Khorne, and Cyrion by Slaanesh. With Grandfather Nurgle sharing their dark sense of humor, I figured there'd probably be some plague marines among the Night Lords.

The color scheme used the same techniques as my regular Night Lords and the VMA Insignia Blue base colour, but highlights up from VMA German Grey to VMA Barley Grey. I also mixed some VLM Copper into my regular VLM Old Gold for the edging. The tubing and crests are highlighted with GW Mechrite Red mixed with GW Elf Flesh in stead of the usual GW Macharian Solar Orange.

14th Claw. Night Lords Plague Marines led by Urath Targalor, euphemistically called "Face" by his fellow Night Lords. Targalor was a terran and had a reputation as being tough as nails, even amongst his comrades. He miraculously survived a chemical attack by a Death Guard contingent after a dispute over mining rights. From thereon his humor grew darker, eventually succumbing to the whispers of Nurgle. His natural charisma led all of his fellow squad members to eventually follow him onto the path of decay, along with his oath-sworn brother Daleth Onn, sergeant of 17th claw. By order of Contemptor-Captain Zhaeqal, both claws are quarantined from 47th Company's fleet by travelling aboard a captured Imperial freighter since mid-M33.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/2013-11-15152713_zpsb0276c63.jpg

17th Claw. Night Lords Plague Marines led my Daleth Onn. Onn was corrupted to the whispers of Nurgle by his oath-sworn brother Urath Targalor in M32. His demeanor is more serious than that of Urath, which is accentuated by the fact that the skin of his skull has rotten off almost completely. Being of more serious stock than Targalor, Onn has corrupted his fellow squad members with his strong and forceful oratory. They carry a banner holding the caged remains of Andreas Indraga-Hall, the former captain of the freighter they are forced to sail. Indraga-Hall famously survived fifteen months and three major 17th Claw engagements in the cage, becoming a mascot of sorts to the Claw. On the field of battle, his screaming served as inspiration to the Claw and terrified the foe. He was eventually mercy-killed by an Imperial sniper and is remembered by 17th Claw in several sarcastic songs, which they cheerfully chant during engagements.

Relic Predator with Plasma Destructor, "Oculus Tempesta"

Oculus Tempesta was captured from the Iron Hands in the aftermath of the Dropsite Massacre on Istvaan V. The dismembered, stripped and flayed remains of several of the original crew members still adorn the driver's blast shield. It was used to destroy the fortifications of Lord Rall Hishoc during the Dolan VI Campaign against the Blood Angels.

Brutal stuff man, you've given me a good boost of inspiration to finish my own Plague Marines. This is precisely why Flint and I wanted to create this thread, it's so great to see all the different ways which people tackle conversions for the VIII Legion. Stuff like this only serves to drive our fellow hobbyists to greater and greater heights.

On a side note how does the relic predator fair on the battlefield? I've been thinking of building one myself.

Just wanted to say that this thread is a such a massive inspiration (which I really didn't need anymore of).

I was planning on doing pre heresy Space Wolves as my next army-but this thread has made me want to give Night Lords a go.  If I can do a quarter of the awesomeness of these models I will be a happy player.

@ Augustus - Thanks for putting up so much awesome stuff, buddy! I'm glad we could convince you to do so. In just a few days, you've made *awesome* contributions to the thread and B&C community as a whole.

I love the plague marines! They are still definitely Nightlords, but with all the broken-down gross stuff that is the hallmark of the scions of Nurgle.

Quoted for truth. Also, those predator executioners are pretty nice. A bit expensive, but worth it when you get to lay down those terminator killing plasma templates. Couldn't comment on their use as super rare "relic" predators though... to us they're just... you know, normal predators tongue.png
