++ AUGUSTUS b'RAASS ++ pre-heresy BRASS SCORPION p.247

Recommended Posts

Well, team, about the drop pods - turns out I'll be actually using them a lot in the following months. I just enrolled in a local tournament for which I'll be using a Skyhammer Annihilation force. Because, well, it's the filthiest, dirtiest formation space marines can take, and also the most fluffy one I can think of. This also means that I'll be needing 20 jum pack toting marines and an additional devastator squad - all before the end of March! So I'm putting on my painting straps and be churning out 30 marines in little over four weeks - which in turn means that my list of Khornate things (maulerfiend, lord, 'thirster, heldrake, hounds, 'crushers', (rebasing) 'letters) will have to wait a while - probably even until the ETL

I have indeed started on the maulerfiend

and the bloodthirster

but these will have to wait - as does the Typhon.

So whoop whoop here come 30 Imperial Fists marines.

Cheers!

Oooh finished the first half of one of the two Assault Squads in my tournament list:

VII Assault Squad

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20170220_001_zpsbnbsioay.jpg

Vexillarius - Aldrik Zol'tara - Trysanna

Zol´Tara´s zeal and absolute faith in the Emperor is source of morale, that benefits not only his squad, but his whole detachment. Chaplain Kaprellian of Fifth company has taken note of this on more than one occasion, and has begun the process of induction. Recently, Zol´Tara has been introduced to High Chaplain Nicodemus of First Company, an honour normally reserved only to those already inducted as a chaplain.

Weapon Specialist (Flamer) - Garic Westrat - Biohazard

A recent graduate of the initiation process and former Pyronamniac gang member of the hive world Necromunda, Westrat still delights in burning the enemies of the Emperor with righteous zeal - so much so that he has been purposefully placed into VII Assault squad with Aldrik Zol'Tara, so that the devoted Vexillarius can keep an eye out for the sometimes reckless new recruit.

Weapon Specialist (Eviscarator) - Hannes Kirchberg - Lord Thorn

Kirchberg is a shining example of the prospective champion, swingin his enormous chain weapon with skill, while maintaining an air of chivalric honour. He always prays for the souls of his opponents after a battle concludes, even going so far as to go back to their dismembered corpses and carefully arranging their different body parts so that their souls can find rest. This practice is frowned upon by several members of his squad, but Kirchberg is adamant in his belief that to treat an opponent with respect is to respect one's own soul, which in turn is agift from the Emperor.

Battle Brother - Rainad Folker  kizzdougs

An impetuous astartes, brother Folker is a whirlwind of whirring blades and precision shots in combat, yet shows a serene calm between missions. When aboard the Phalanx, he spends the limited free time he has meditating on his purpose: to destroy the enemies of the Emperor and to bring ligh to humanity. In his locker, he keeps a small print of the Lectitio Divinatus, from which he reads small excerpts whenever he rests.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20170220_004_zpstssszccq.jpg

Battle Brother - Herric Isenart - MikhalLeNoir

Isenart is the oposite of Folker; a methodical killer on the battlefield, preferring to dispatch his enemies from a flank instead of landing in the fray, while being a jovial and outgoing member of the squad. He frequently seeks out and engages in lighthearted conversation even with brothers from other squads and even companies. Sergeant Brandt of VII squad has come to rely upon Isenart to flush out potential internecine feelings between members of the squad.

That's it! Oh, and as a bonus: I cannot afford eviscerators in the squads, so I'm magnetizing them on the brothers that do have them, so I can still use them in the tournament. :smile.::thumbsup:

I hope you like! Feedback welcome!

Replies:

@ Noctem Cultor: Oh dude, I have some weird news: I'm actually thinking of selling any and all Night Lords I do not use frequently.... there's very little chance you'll see any more...

@ Viarocanum: Ha! I got the base done, but that's hardly satisfying to you. I'm thinking of enrolling in the CHaos forum for a fourth time in the coming ETL, so I might see him there. :smile.:

@ Eldrick Shadowblade: TO BAD BUDDY! 25 more to come!  And I´m very honoured to be such an inspiration to you. I -and I'm sure Krauty too- will definitely keep an eye out for your KDK!

@ hushrong: Dude, the Skyhammer Annihilation Force is massively OP, with quadruple synchronicity between its component units. Although their special rules do favour assaulting horde armies - which leads me to plan two more devastator squads with Heavy Bolters (to include that special IF rule that allows rerolls for bolter weapons in combination with the IF devastator tank hunter rule)!

Sweet update! Those assault marines are awesome and I am happy to see more Imperial Fists.

And yeah, looked into that detachment. Sweet lord. And I though the dual gladius strike forces with free transports was insane.

Hurray! Inspiration struck today, after I drove to get a new bottle of plastic glue (I miraculously managed to acually empty an entire bottle of plastic glue without throwing it away because of needle clogage). I also just found out that I forgot to stop my parking app after leaving the hobby shop, and so ended up actually spending €35 to get one bottle of plastic glue. Yay me!

Anyway, I build ten assault marines today. I got so enthused that I forgot to take pictures of the first batch of five, but did get the next batch.

Here´s a snap shot of the first batch, mounted on corks, primered, and ready for paint.

And here are actual good pictures of the next batch.

They´re equiped with MkII jump packs, which to me are even cooler than the MkV packs I used for the first ten.

I hope you like, feedback welcome :smile.:

@ Sagentus: Cheers, buddy! The Maulerfiend will be done after March, as my focus right now is on finishing the Skyhammer Annihilation force for the tournament.

@ Mechanist: That's nice of you to say, buddy, thanks! The deadline to me is just a motivational factor - the tourny has a 'best painted army' award, which I will definitely try to grab a hold of. :smile.:

@ The Traitor: Thank you! Vexillarii are the cool part of the squad, as far as I'm concerned. I love doing them!

@ lionofjudah: If you don't do it for your assault squad, I'm going to kill you, keep a beehive in your carcass, and harvest the honey as revenge.

@ Biohazard: Oooooh! HA! Yeah baby! Glad you like him!

@ hushrong: Thanks, mate! And I know right? The Gladius Strike Force is defnitely the strongest and most synchronized of all SM formations. Op as it may be, I really think it is the most fluffy way to play Space Marines.

@ Pearson73: Hey buddy! Glad to see you around these parts again. And thanks!

This last squad looks very promising, the sergeant with the two handed chainsword is so badass! Also from where is the sword that the last assault marine is wielding? I need that for my own marines, so many SKULLS in such a little weapon!

Well, yes, Race Bannon, that is you! This brings me to yet another request for names for my plastic men:

VII Assault Squad has three battle brothers in need of a name, and they're on the brink of getting painted - so make it quick!

Also, XIV Assault Squad is in need of even more names... but they will take a few days more to paint. Feel free to claim one, even if you already named a (or several) guys in my army. I'm not picky!

@ dantay_xv: ha! Me too, except the double bubble jump packs are MkII. The single bubble packs are MkV.... :ohmy.:

@ The Traitor: Thansk buddy! That chainsword is part of the Vanguard Kit. :smile.:

@ The Traitor: alright, buddy! Bring it on then - what will you call him?

@ DarthPenguin: Those double handed chainswords are Eviscerators - the plastic ones are from the latest Assault Squad boxed set and the resin ones are from the FW Legion MkIII and Legion MKIV weapons set. Now that I have answered your question, will you repay me with a name for one of the Battle Brothers in the Assault Squad? :) :D
