Yay! Bloodletters look awesome in black!

Especially with that cool, frosty blue you have going.

Can't wait to see Khârn all prettied up too.

As Flint says, the Bloodletters look awesome in black :thumbsup:

Khârn is such a cool model. despite it's age, and his collection of skulls will certainly help with his 'height' issues. Looking forward to seeing The Maniac done :biggrin.:

Cheers, both of you!

Yes, the black bloodletters look cool huh? They were inspired by the pictures in Codex Khorne Daemonkin. I wish I did them sooner, for now I have two very similar looking Bloodletter units and I prefer variety. The next and last unit will be black bloodletters, though, so we will see more of them!

I've used a Vellejo Game Colour called 'Grey Black', and it yields the most perfect results when drybrushed over black. It just naturally highlights the black perfectly, without it looking like dark grey. I really cannot recommend it enough for those with black armies (Flint13). :tu:

It's seriously got me thinking of doing mine that colour; the only thing is my Hounds of Abaddon have red as their spot colour, so the red Bloodletters will probably look better in the grand scheme of the army, but the black, it's certainly cooler I think.

*evil chaos whispers* Do you have plans for a Bloodthirster in that scheme? ;)

Haha MOST definitely. My local GW has an unarmoured, black/skinned Bloodthirster and it looks fricking epic. So he´s definitely going to be black too. Thinking about it, I think it´ll look awesome with black and red Bloodletters around him.

Anyway, I´m making good progress on Kh&arn. perhaps an hour or two more work. Here´s a collage shot of the finished base:

Sorry again about the slightly wahsed out look. The camera on my new pone isn't what I hope it would be. Need more training.

Thanks Psykic_scribe :) And no, Game Colour is for normal use. It's Vallejo Model Air you're thinking about. Also: VMA is usable with a normal brush - I actually prefer it because it's thinner. In any case, VMA doesn't have Grey Black, so either way you're golden. :)

Khârn is finished. More pics of other angles here in my showcase.

Thanks for looking and feedback welcome. :tu:

@The Hydra: Thanks! Yeah the light, bright blue is a good contrast to the deep red. :)

@ShVagYer: Khârn deserves nothing less than a good pile fo chopped of skulls!

I finished the Pink Horrors in my fifth and final ETL IV vow last night. Turns out they're pretty easy to paint if you use washes and a heating system. ;) These took less than 4 hours to build, paint, and base!

More pics here in my showcase.

Beautiful work again mate, Khârn looks suitably 'axe-crazy' with the head of a fellow Berzerker on that pile of skulls. The daemons look good aswell, Black Bloodletters was a nice move to make the stand out and the Horrors look really good for less than 4 hours from start to finish. :thumbsup:

.

Do it! Doooooo it now!

Quit distracting me with lovely pink daemons. As awesome as pink is, black is cooler.

Hurry up and do it too, bc I have a 'thirster sitting on the sprue and I want to be able to shamelessly plagiarize yours :D

Dang! Finished the second to last squad in my final ETL IV vow. The Bloodletters. They're black, to match those on the Bloodcrushers I painted up last week.

More pics HERE in my Showcase log.

@MrBear: Haha cheers. I get what you';re saying: I could've gotten more out of the Horrors. I agree, and the next squad will get more love. Because you liked the Black bloodletters on the 'crushers, can I assume you dig them sans ride? ;)

@Flint13: Black IS cooler! Hence the above Daemons. ;) Also, the 'Thirster will not be done now. It'll be done after the ETL, when I am not in a hurry, and I can give it all the attention it and it's pricetag deserve. So your plagiarizing ass needs to wait! ;)

So, third or fourth time I have looked at these, and I finally notice a critique.
To me it seems strange that the glow is centered on a point in the middle of the swords where either the tip or a center line seems like it would be more likely.
Is there a reason behind that?

@The Hydra: Cheers buddy!

@VelÇona: thanks for commenting!

@Teetengee: Haha good question, and a very on point. There is a reason for this, and it's because I'm too lazy to use masking tape to mask the opposite edges of each side of the blades and doing the glowing effect in reverse! Perhaps you remember my Tzeentchian Sorcerer on Jetbike (Disc of Tzeentch) I painted for my fifth vow during last year's ETL? I wanted to do the abovementioned technique on his Force spear, but stopped because I quite liked the weird effect the glowing-in-the-middle effect gave off. So I just copied the simplified effect for the bloodletters. :wink:

Here's the very last unit in my very last ETL IV vow; the Screamers of Tzeentch. Nine of them!

And with that, my vow is complete!

Thanks for looking. I hope you like the screamers.

@Kurama: your wish is my command, buddy!

@Uveron: Copy away, pal! Your red wash over dark grey recipe sounds interesting. Lemme know when you've put them up :)
