@ GrandMagnus: But, but, he's not a techmarine! It's funny how often I notice few people actually read what I write alongside WiP pictures. I'll take that as a compliment though  He's actually meant to be a devastator sergeant.

@ SanguiniusReborn: OKOK you can switch names AND combat roles.

@ DuskRaider: Excellent idea! It doesn't matter that I play him in with 40K rules, as this IF army is situated roughly in the 32nd Millenium, fluff wise. Hence the plethora and mix of older armour marks. :tu:

Idk why I'd never thought of using the tech marines as anything other than tech marines. I think I actually have that same body laying around somewheres. So I very welll may be forced to shamelessly copy you brother. Awesome work as always

Yeah, you can say that again! :)

Excellent use of the Techmarine body! It really makes for a rather different, yet completely fitting Devastator Sergeant! I do think you're too kind regarding those optics, though: I merely sent you some of those Skitarii antennae, IIRC...

Say, if you suddenly find yourself no longer infatuated with all of those Techmarine models, and if you should have that bare-headed Master of the Forge model and no longer need it, I think I could use it for a nitfy Iron Warriors conversion at some point -- just sayin'... ;)

Anyway, keep up the excellent work, buddy! :)

Bikers. Bikers everywhere!

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/funny%20pics/72167612_zpsormbkpjr.jpg

Ahem. Sorry, but I just wanted to let you guys and gals know I started painting the bikers. SIx of them. My god.

I'll probably do this in three goes, one where I do the two weapon specialists, one where I do the sergeant and the comms specialist, and one where I do the regular biker and the captain. Gulp.

Complete coat of GW Averland Sunset

And a shade of 1:1 GW Averland Sunset and VMA Hull Red

Thanks for looking and commenting!

Replies!

@ SanguniusReborn: That's an awesome name! It's recorded here!

@ Knight of the Raven: Good point about the antenna, thanks!  I've replaced it with a rod of 1mm paperclip. ;)

@ Pyroclast91: tbh, I never thought of it either - it was more of a 'what the hell am I going to do with all those techmarines?' So copy away!

:)

@ KrautScientist: Oh really? I have a plastic bag that says 'KrautScientist' adn it contains a lot of antennas and that sorts of bits. I might have just dumped similar bits in your own ziplog baggy ;) I do have the master of the forge, but it's a horrific cast - I might use it for something else. The techmarines will now all be used as sergeants and as an actual techmarine on bike (with a conversion beamer - a cheap, shooty HQ choice :biggrin.: )

The yellows on your Fists look stellar. Nice to see the starting steps too.

Like the techmarine-sergeant idea for the Devs; my only 'issue' with it would be the monopose body, especially if you have multiples of the same techmarine awaiting use. Are you planning on keeping the mechadendrites?

Also, does that mean you want more names? ^^

Hey buddy! I have all different techmarines imaginable ;) But this body was the only double I had, so I used it. This particular model doesn't have any mechadendrites on it stock, though, so no. ;)

And YES! I need moar names!

Rewatching ST:DS9 episodes, eh? ;) Who is to be named as such, buddy? Look here for empty spots (hint: Command Squad Weapon Specialist is open, and a little PMing birdy told me he wants to name the other one, which would make a full squad, which will allow me to paint them up soon)

Hail Brother Koorson! Good to have you back with the squadron. So, how goes the reconstruction on Rynn's World? Did the neophytes give you any trouble? Edited by SanguiniusReborn

Even as a neophyte, implantation scars still raw, Matthias Fisch could always be found wandering the halls of the fortress-monastery. From idle gossip between serfs to transmission scraps, Matthias soon became known among the other neophytes as their connection to the Chapter, and the Imperium at large. His expertise in information soon grew invaluable, serving his Scout squad well.

Recently elevated to serve as XIIth Devastator's Communication Specialist, Matthias is eager to continue his path, perhaps to one day command from the bridge of one of the Chapters ships, or be sent to far-off Mars for further studies.

So! I've finally finished the bike squad. I've been suffering from extreme back problems due to a slipped spinal disc. MRI results today showed about a third of the disc is out of place. My left leg is non-functional half the time. Wish there'd be Prostetic technology like in 40K sometimes.  The good news is, I have an almost 100% chance of complete recovery with treatment - and no surgery will most likely be necessary. Hurray!

Due to the stellar opiate painkillers I've been getting, and the fact that I'm on my back 90% of the time, I haven't been able to do any painting since posting the first WiP pics of the squad I'm working on. Luckily, I had a no-pain window this weekend, and I made a ton of progress! Today was also good, so I finished the bikers.

They've been named by my fellow hobbyists over at the Tale of 20 Hobbyists thread. :smile.: Incidentally, if you're interested in naming (another) one of my future miniatures, here's a list of the ones I am still planning to do.

VII Biker Assault Squad

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/Biker%20Squad%20VII_zpsuu5mngzs.jpg

Veteran Sergeant - Tormud Yegar - Pyroclast91

A taciturn leader, Sergeant Yegar is nevertheless regarded in 5th company as one of the most promising officers. Having the ear of Captain Landa whenever a quick strike plan is required, he offers council to whomever needs it, whilst not wasting time and displaying an eager aggression on the battlefield. Sergeant Yegar prefers scouting missions, where he serves his company by gathering information on the enemy. Despite his aggressive nature, however, he is never tempted to overplay his hand.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/Biker%20Squad%20VII%20Sergeant%20painted_zpsdpbd7h5l.jpg

Weapon Specialist - Korvern Losurt krobakei

A recent addition from the 8th Company, Brother Losurt requested to be transferred to 5th Company to take up the place of a fallen comrade in VII Squad. Losurt has proven himself an aggressive warrior and a efficient weapons specialist, quickly increasing his skills in the use of the deadly graviton gun. His breacher helmet, worn by the brother he replaced, is a gift from Sergeant Yegar to both honour the fallen and to allow Brother Losurt to perceive the field of battle through the same machine spirit as his former companion.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/Biker%20Squad%20VII%20Specialist%202_zpsrjes58q1.jpg

Weapon Specialist - Vitric Gellar - codystuart

Brother Gellar hails from an ancient family of Terran Enginseers, going back as far back as the Dark Age of Technology. He honours his family tradition and has specialized in the weapon with the most arcane technology: the graviton gun. A former Land Speeder Storm gunner, he has served in VII Squad for three decades - even longer than Sergeant Yegar.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/Biker%20Squad%20VII%20Specialist%201_zpspyar0sv0.jpg

Comms Specialist - Rüdiger Hoss Sanguinius Reborn

An astartes with an unusual sense of situational awareness, Brother Hoss has been a great asset in VII Squad's usual scouting missions. Hoss is a dedicated comms officer, providing the squad and the company with invaluable information on the enemy's position and strengths. He is a stoic man, though, and rarely speaks to his brothers if he doesn't have to. Despite this, he is well-liked, for when he speaks, it is always in good nature and with words of admiration to his peers.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/Biker%20Squad%20VII%20Comms%20Specialist_zpsf0y29foo.jpg

Note the gnarly look of Hoss's helmet: before painted it rolled through a small pool of super glue. I thought I had cleaned off everything, but during painting it seemed I had failed. Oh well. The bike´s antenna is not plastic, btw. I swapped it for a thin piece of metal from a paperclip, because I know the plastic antennas tend to break off easily.

Battle Brother - Vorn Kartessen - The Psycho

The most aggressive and best fighter of VII Squad, Brother Kartessen prefers close quarter raids and sowing confusion in the enemy ranks. Against his will, he was thus assigned to VII Squad, where he performs the role of outrider and guard for the rare occasion when they are spotted by the enemy during scouting missions. He has prevented enemies raising the on dozens of occasions, and earned the respect from his comrades, despite his outgoing nature clashing with the taciturn nature of his squad brothers.

@ guardian31: That's a great name and I have added him to the list!

@ SanguiniusReborn: I applaud your efforts, buddy - but bear in mind that guardian31's marine is in the Command Biker squad, and you are in the 'regular' VII Biker Assault Squad.

@ SalvationOfReason: Dude! You actually wrote some fluff for this guy! I love it, and will copy it -almost-  entirely (Mere scouts roaming free? Fortress Monastery? (the Imperial Fists don't have one)). Thanks!

@ thamier: Haha sure, sure. Make fun of the bumblebees. Wanna name one, though? Not one of these, they have names now. Here's a list of open spots.

@ Dragonlover: Koorso Drax is very reminiscent to Kurzon Dax from DS9. I've altered it slightly to make it even less obvious, but I like it nonetheless. I'll probably write some fluff for him  about getting his geneseed from a great warrior-diplomat or something. ;)

@ SalvationOfReason: Not to worry, buddy. I realy liked the fact that you went so far as to write the fluff for your dude. :tu:

@ Knight of the Raven: AAAAARP nooooooo an unrilled barrel?!?!?! Heresy. No idea how that happened, but luckily it's super easy to fix. Thanks for spotting it! Want to claim another model from the list? There's a full squad of Jump Packers waiting for names!

@ SanguiniusReborn: Your enthusiasm is intoxicating. Please never stop. ;) :D

And BOOM! Finished the Mobile incarnation of Captain Franz Landa

Franz Landa, Captain of the 5th Company Imperial Fists

In the aftermath of the Gorgorath Campaign against the Orks, the 5th Company had suffered considerable losses. No longer could Captain Landa direct his forces from the relative low-threat sections of the battlefield to systematically iradicate the enemy. The Ork forces were severely damaged, but not destroyed. Their Warlord had holed up in a damaged manufatorum with his bodyguard, the building itself protected by a small force of heavy infantry and vehicles. Warp-scryer data revealed that there was another Hulk en route to reinforce the Orks. What remained of the forces on the ground had to be destroyed. Captain Landa did not hesitate and ordered his Command group and several assault units into a Speartip, while the rest of his remaining forces were to form a Skyhammer Annihilation formation. Their orders were to descend unto the manufactorum after Captain Landa and his bikers had overwhelmed the remaining defenders. While Captain Landa prefers the standard bolter and chainsword armament of his brothers, he is no stranger to more advanced and powerful equipment. Donning a power glove and claw, he mounted his bike and prepared for the strike.
