Cheers, guys!

And then I stumbled on From the Warp's Ron's Psychic Hood conversion tutorial. Wasting no time, I set to work, and this is the result:

While that shoulder pad into psychic hood idea is inventive, it still looks like a shoulder pad to me no matter how many different takes on it I see. :(

I believe it's from a Grey Knights kit. They're the only models that come with heads that have a leather cowl like the one helmet wearers from the Middle Ages used as far as I know.

Grey Knight termies, in fact.

@ Eldrick Shadowblade: I think either New Khârn or the Old Bloodthirster is next. Which one do you want first? VOTING STARTS NOW ;)

@ Brother Chaplain Cage: And how do you find its look now that it is all painted? :)

@ Psykic_scribe: haha,  don't think you can, but if that's what it'll take you to win against psyker-heavy lists, who am I to stop you!?

@ wiqid: Uh, yeah, I know. I posted that picture two or three pages back! What's the reason for you to post it again? lol Thanks for the kind words, though. I hope you find inspiration in this blog. If you want pics of only completed pictures, I have two HoH threads. Linkys in my siggy. :tu:

@ Mechanist: Don't forget the Stilton I put in there. Your experience is recognizable. I've been on the giving and receiving end so many ties in the last year. Neither way makes for a particularly fun game, don't you think? Hopefully 8th edition will put an end to power creep.

It can be fun in a cringe worthy amusement sort of way when it's unexpected but the problem is that there are units you just know are going to do that and it limits your list options against them and from that the creativity. And that is always a bad thing, I have fairly solid hopes for 8th. I've played 3 games of AOS and all where enjoyable though without points at the time it made for a bit of unbalance but to be honest it was no worse than 40k with points.

I like most of what Ive seen and that it's kept a certain amount of 40k ness instead of a full on AOS clone, even it bit's I'm less sure of isn't any form of dealbreaker and I can't wait to see more.

Thanks, everyone. I haven't updated here due to my work on a friend's commission for an Ork Bommer. I have, however, finished a fourth librarian, the one that has the Blood Ravens Deathwatch librarian as a base. I made a custom Force halberd for him, and did some freehand on his right shoulder pad and his banner. This is actually the first time I did freehand since I painted a Night Lords rhino three years ago!

Here's the result:

(17/05/2017 EDIT:)

Lexicanium Debor Varis - Race Bannon
Born on a desolate planet in the Vagon Cluster, brother Varis was recruited as an Imperial Initiate at the young age of eight standard years. He was found on his world by Epistolary Kho, who saw the boy sitting cross-legged in the middle of the central square of a village, the entire town burning around him. When questioned, he merely murmered short phrases that spoke of vengeance for his murdered parents. His mind was catatonic, but his body proved strong and lean. Taken back to the Phallanx, he was tested and after extensive psycho-interrogations and found suitable for initiation. Geneseed zygotes and black carapace introductions proved successful, but the youth appeared extraordinarily resistant to psycho-indoctrination. Vengeful and aggressive by nature, it soon became apparent that initiate Varis had Psychic potency, particularly in the fulmination discipline. Upon completing his initiation, brother Varis was immediately claimed by the Chapter's Librarius. His aggressiveness has made him a specialist in close-assault support and boarding actions, where he is known to down entire lines of enemies with bolts of lightning arching out of his eyes and mouth. His brother Astartes regard him with a weary sense of respect, for even they have come to be mindful of the young Lexicanium's wrath.

And now I'll be starting on the second to last of the series, the librarian with a power axe:

Hope you like! Feedback most welcome. :smile.:

@ Eldrick Shadowblade: DO IIIIIIITT!

@ hushrong:  Thanks! That's high praise! :smile.:

@ Brother Chaplain Kage: Yeah that's a solid bit indeed. Unfrotunately it's sold out pretty much everywhere, and so I had to make do with what I have. The chaos shoulder pad's features aid in masking its origin, if you ask me.

@ Mechanist: Tanks for yor thoughts on 8th edition. I completely agree with them, and I too have good hopes for 8th. What with all the rules being 'leaked' by GW, I'm thoroughly looking forward to it!

@ The Traitor: Thanks buddy! I'm glad the hood worked out so well!

I really love how your Librarius Conclave is coming along, buddy! The models are full of individual charm and character, which I think was a great thing about those old metal Librarians, and you are definitely capturing that look with your collection of psykers there.

That being said, I don't get the choice of a pointy hand on the latest WIP model. Like, at all. It seems incredibly distracting and, erm... pointless, if you'll excuse the pun, but I suppose you must have had a reason for choosing it. Care to enlighten me?

Still nothing but praise for your librarians!

The are the most striking and brutal bookworms I have seen in a long time!

As for the pointy finger, did he do a finger gun pose at a heretic, shot lightning from his finger tips, and now it is cooling off as smoke rises from the tip? Silly idea but I would do it if I had warp powers.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. The pointy finger arose from an apparent lack of left-handed clenched fists in my bits box. I thought I could pass as a magical gesture of some sort, but your comments convinced me it wasn't working. So I rummaged around in other bits stashes - and lo and behold I found what I initially thought I didn't have anymore.

So here's the improved version with a clenched fist, and something to decorate is backpack. Take a look:

Much better, don't you think? Let me know!

Thanks again for the feedback, uveron and KrautScientist. :tu: :)

I'm loving these old school librarians from you Auggie, the paint work and kitbashing is on point (as usual)

They keep sending me off to eBay to track one down for myself! But I've quit metal miniatures, they are too difficult to manage. Really happy to see them from you though :)

My name is Augustus and I am an addict. Seriously, I have no idea what is happening to me. But I cannot stop building librarians. Eight edition is around the corner, so I pretty much have stopped painting units that I actually intent to use - as the meta will definitely shift and I want to equip units competitively. But about 18 months ago, I suddenly had an urge to collect librarians. So I set out to collect all power armoured librarians that have been released. With my recent purchase of the last metal force stave wielding libby, I have largely succeeded in this endeavor, albeit through the help of several recasters.

So after finishing the build of the metal one, above, yesterday I started to bring all the different miniatures I had together.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/60010199006_DVLibrarian360_zpswqwv09mx.jpg

And started chopping them up. I used the parts of these three libbies, with the added caveat that I have an original plastic and a recast version of the current plastic librarian, and only had the arms of the red scorpions Servin Loth libby.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20170514_002_zpsveezfpvb.jpg

So after several hours of work, including some work today, here's four new librarians, in various states of WIP:

This one uses the (recast) body, head and right shoulder pad of the current plastic libby, the left and right arms of the Dark Vengeance librarian, with a MkIII right shoulder pad and a recast MkIII jump pack.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20170514_003%202_zpsmh28obwh.jpg

This one uses the plastic body of the current libby, as well as the recast backpack of that same miniature, the right arm and shoulder of the OOP stave libby, with the (recast) stave top of the current plastic librarian, the left (casting) arm of Sevrin Loth, a MkVII left shoulder pad, and a Grey Knights head.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20170514_006%202_zpslrnrgpps.jpg

For this one, I used the recast body of the OOP stave librarian, the plastic stave of the current plastic librarian, and some MkIII shoulder pads.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20170514_009%202_zpsiscnsabm.jpg

And finally, this is the DV librarian body with the Dark Angel iconography sanded away, the (recast) stave arms and lower part of the stave of the current plastic librarian miniature, the halberd head of a Grey Knight, and some MkIII shoulder parts.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20170514_010%202_zpsfstefisa.jpg

What do you think? I'm very excited by these, so I'd love to hear your thoughts. :smile.:

THanks!

Replies;
@ Brother Jim: Thanks, mate. Ebay as tons of the metal libbies. You shouldn't really have a problem getting one for yourself. :smile.: Metal miniatures are not a problem if you use only the core parts and add modern plastics and pin the arms.

@ Viarocanum: I'll start work on him asap!

Plenty of witchkin for Khorne to claim. Saying that I do love that jump pack guy. :tu:

They all look awesome though and once you've worked your magic with the paint they'll definitely be a brilliant looking unit. Are they all going to be for your Fists?

Thanks for the comments, guys :)

@ deathspectersgt7: :D

@ Pearson73: Thanks! I'm going for variety. :)

@ Vairocanum: Really? It's my least fave. I'm thinking of giving him a very grimdark background. If you want to name him, you're welcome to it!

@ Sagentus: I am, aren't I? It's developing to be a bit of an obsession, to be honest. But I just love librarians suddenly. Khorne must want my head right now.

@ Biohazard: Indeed! Luckily the 4000 points of KDK I painted last year cut me some slack with Khorne ;) I'm afraid they will be all for my fists - as I don't have a non-Chaotic space marine army...
