Yeah, your Necrosius is good. I guess. *shrug*

Seriously though, that's the best Necrosius conversion I've seen. I love the little details you've given him, it really pushes him over the top. You've also piqued my interest with the new Daemon Prince.

Cheers, guys!

Plague Burst Crawlers finished! I gotta say: they were boring to do and I'm glad I did them all three together.

I tried to make them all individuals with damage, warts, and the icons on their Dozer Blades. Also, all optional weapons are magnetized!

I hope you like them!

@ Pearson73: Cheers, mate! Glad you like both Necrosius and the DP so much.

@ ElDuderino: Yeah, Daemon Princes are just too cool to not do.

@ BCK: No. He'll crap lightning out of his ass though. I hope you got that reference, 'cause I didn't get yours. ;)

@ Whitescar: Haha thanks, buddy!

@ Eldrick Shadowblade: Aha very nice!

@ DuskRaider: Eh, he's ok.

7th Plague Marine Squad finished!

Funny how every time I start one of these I'm not looking forward to it but once the base paint is on I get really into them. There's nothing like finishing a squad of space marines in sub-assemblies and then seeing them come to life as it were when you glue the parts together and you get this awesome mini-group of characters.

Anyway, here's pictures!

Hurray! I'm quite pleased with the inclusion of a little more red as a spot colour. Now, there's only 15 more Plague Marine to go and those are finished.

But first, I'm going to pint Necrosius. And then build a Knight. Because Knights are wicked!

Cheers!

@ Bjorn Firewalker: Thanks!

@ BCK: Aha! Well I looked in to him and it turns out he shoots gravity waves from his heads, and lightningstorms erupt from his wings as he flies off? The sources are a it ambiguous. Anyway, say hi to your friend. A propos, how did you two get acquainted? :biggrin.:

@ Vairocanum: Cheerio! Variation is what it's all about. :smile.::thumbsup:

Phew, I've been away for what feels like ages, so I seem to have missed lots of good stuff ;)

  • Really like the Necrosius build, mate! I wasn't a fan of that particular head before, but it just works so much better with a high collar!
  • You've done a fantastic job with the Mourngul (?!) Daemon Prince, and I'll admit I was fairly skeptical about your choice of base model for that project. The finished piece is fantastic, though -- if pressed to choose my favourite part of the model, I'd say it's a tossup between the way you've painted the mouth and the bionic eye -- the latter element really sells the model as both 40k and Space Marine-ish, if you ask me.
  • I see what you're saying about those Crawlers: They fit into the overall Death Guard aesthetics well enough, but there's really nothing exciting about the sculpt, right? They're just, like, "there". ;) Even so, great paintjobs and a nice touch of individuality with those different icons on the front mantlet.
  • and finally, excellent work on the next squad of Plague Marines -- Specialist Gulk has such a fantastic pose -- one of my favourites from this army!

One last thing, though: Before you start on yet another DP, I would love to see you adding the last tweaks to that first Death Guard Daemon Prince of yours. Just sayin'...

In any case, keep up the fantastic work, buddy! :)

Amazing work as always and I think we must be about due a full army shot to see Nurgel's legion in all their glory.

I keep looking at the plague crawler and every time the make me think of doing a proper knight warden from epic as opposed to the basic weapon swap it is now.

I was inspired by this build some time ago by Jens Sentenceinger

I'm sure he had a blog with build guidance and I've been looking to find it again.

Which while looking cropped up this thread on Dakka (yes I know it's a rival forum :whistling:  but sources should be referenced damn it and it's such a sweet build  )

I so want to do the Warden with a big cannon and the blight crawlers look a perfect base for the main shell, I must resist till after the Khorne knight is finished though or have two unfinished knights. But I mean I wouldn't be suggesting anyone else takes on the build :whistling:  no not me....

Well, DuskRaider, your wish apparently is my command, as Necrosius is done!

In addition, it happened. IT HAPPENED!

I finally started working on my Chaos Knight. I've had this bad boy since it came out - since about mid-2005 I think. For some reason, it never appealed to me to start building it, let alone fielding it in a game. But now, I've seen a Chaos Knight with dual Avenger Cannons in action, and I just got inspired. Plus, I've been able to get my hands on a Russian made, Chinese copied, pair of posable Knight Legs. p3arriy.jpg

So there!

Cheers!

@ KrautScientist: Hey buddy! What have you been up to! I started to miss you around these here parts. I also send you a PM, as I have a fresh pot of Blood Red I want you to have - and two more incoming. So that you can get back to painting World Eaters. Specifically, that recast FW World Eaters Dreadnought I gave you last year. About your comments - thanks for all the positive feedback! About the Daemon Prince's mouth though: that's seriously nothing else than FLayed One Flesh followed by a wash of thinned down BFTBG. That's it. I also think it's so interesting that you find Gulk's pose so cool - I find it a bit bland to be honest. It makes me interested to ask what exactly you find so cool about him?! I promise tomorrow I'll do the first DP's face and post it here.

@ Mechanist: That thing by Jens Sentenceinger is insane. WOW! Very cool concept and execution. It's not my cup of tea to build one though, so I'm not promising anything. To be honest about the one from Dakka - and not (just) because it's from our rival forum, to be a bit meh. Sure, the GS work is done well, but the pose as well as the plasticard work leaves a lot to be desired....

@ Bjorn Firewalker: Hurray! I made someone sick again! ;)

@ DuskRaider: Thanks! Yes, the red pops a lot, no? I plan on using a lot more red for the rest of the army.

And you! You!! What you get done 'in a little hobby time'... I swear, I'm going to figure out where you live so I can catch you in a trap and distill down whatever magic you have in your blood and consume it so I can absorb even a fraction of your ability to get amazing :censored: done in such a timely manner. ... errr... heh... umm... Was that too dark?

Cheers, guys!!

The army shot! I had made it just when I finished ETL VI - but I got so caught up with the last touches on the Daemon Prince that I forgot to post it. So here it is - but mind you, this is pre- Feculant Gnarlmaw, Daemon Prince, 3x Plague Burst Crawlers, 5 Plague Marines and Necrosius...

owRp0kx.jpg

Pretty insane, given that I started building the first miniature - a poxwalker straight from the DI box - on the Ides of March of this year (on the anniversary of Julius Caesar's assassination!).

Hope you like!

Cheers

Crap, after rewatching that video for the first time in many years, I realize that they're actually battling a Cthulhu and not a Godzilla. Of well, there goes my joke...

@DuskRaider: I aim to please, so I'll get a move on with the Knight.

@ Subtle Discord: I swear, if I lived in the Chaos Wastes of Canada instead of the Hive Slums of Amsterdam, I'd team up with you. I'd accept the plumbing situation and be your ideal partner. ]

Necrosius is looking great -- with two small cavaeats: One, I think I spy another small (cat) hair on the right side of his face (starting in the corner of his eye). Two, I think this is one case where picking out his three eyes in a different colour - or at least giving them a slight hue - would go a long way!

And maybe, just maybe, that red fly icon on his backpack could do with another higlight...?

@ KrautScientist: I also think it's so interesting that you find Gulk's pose so cool - I find it a bit bland to be honest. It makes me interested to ask what exactly you find so cool about him?!

I think there's a lovely, subtle touch of movement about the model that makes it look as though Gulk were just swinging around to train his weapon on a new opponent. At the same time, the small motion also communicates the weight of the weapon and the ponderous nature I'd expect of a Plague Marine -- that's just a great bit of visual storytelling, even moreso if it should have been unintentional

Reeeallly looking forward to seeing you tackle that Knight -- although I have to admit I find myself stifling a groan whenever I see those tacky teeth on the Forgeworld Renegade Knight carapace...

Will reply to your PM ASAP...with a PM of my own

Maybe he should be The Incredible Gulk after that.

Another Plague Marine Squad in the making (as well as a quirky little Daemon Bagpiper)

Squad Ukobach

4I3Cu0S.jpg

HFxYi4L.jpg

Plague Sergeant Ukobach

I did a marine aiming a Plasmagun before, but I'm most fond of this one - I love the movement that his legs' stance conveys, which is only enhanced by his cloak.

L9HObNn.jpg

Vexilarius Rahub

This is the most convoluted conversion in the squad. It uses the standard DI bolter guy's legs. I dremelled most of his cloak away and sculpted it so that the marine arm with a FW DG pauldron could be inserted. I then sculpted some new cloak to merge the cloak and the pauldron. The staff is just layers of microbeads and PVA glue, topped with some liqud greenstuff. It took crazy long to do and in hindsight I think I would have been better off just scultping right on top of the SM staff. But oh well, the effect is there.

xYAopKC.jpg

Melee Specialist Mammun

Not a lot going on here except that I dremeled his mouth-bely ayway and added some greenstuff to mask the damage. Also, his head is the DI standard head minus a lot of that ridiculous icon merged into the horns.

U72YBrv.jpg

Weapon Specialist Infritu

A stange pose, but actually one of my most favourite guys - mostly because of the Space Crusade backpack which a frater sent me years ago! I can't remember who it was but a massive THANKS AGAIN! His plasma weapon and the hands holding it are all from the standard DI plasma gunner - I just sculpted a bare arm to match the vambrace.

vKhtAsK.jpg

Weapon Specialist Beluth

This is the guy with the most sculpting. He connsists of the DI guy's frontal bit, including his left leg, which I bought from a buddy for 50 cents. This left me with a bit that needed a right leg. So I thought why not try and sculpt one yourself? I took the lessons from the sculpting of the Bloodthirster's legs I did about a year ago.  The claws are just shaved down pieces of sprue!

E7WCsVC.jpg

And yes, it's Sloppity Bilepiper! The weirdest miniature on the GW market at the moment! His facial expression is like he can scantly believe his name either!

8AjJLSN.jpg

Hope you like!

Cheers.

@ Skimaskmohawk: Well, this has been an insane army. THe 105 poxwalkers in 11 days make the army seem huge too.

@ KrautScientist: Huh, the funny thing is, that was unintentional! The intent was for him to look like he was looking at his weapon - at which I failed, in my opinion. Your explanation is far more suitable to the mini's pose, though, so I'm going with that! :biggrin.: Now, re: the suspected cat hair: NO! It's not that - it's a miniature cut that the face incurred when I was putting in the mini's head. You see, I made the head fit too snugly, so I needed to press really hard to get it in... :sad.: ABout the eyes' colour, my buddy Dean said the same thing, but that's just a side effect of the photo editing process: in real life, all three eyes have that light teint of blue that comes with blindness/death... And last but not least re: the Knight: you know I like that tackyness. I think it has that Master of the Universe flair I so adore...

@ DuskRaider: Well, it's coming up. It's an interesting process for sure to figure out how to combine all those kits together. I quite like that kind of challenge. :biggrin.:

@ AHorriblePerson: Thanks! The name is a fruit of my naming process: I just think of a sound or look up some historic/religious demon's name and then alter some letter into a 'u' for the Death Guard. I have no idea what the reference to Fliht of the Eisenstein should be. It has been almost eight years since I read that book!

@ Brother Chaplain Kage: Hahahah you slay me!
