Oh wow - this guy, you have nailed it with the colour choice (and execution of course)
Great conversion btw

ran outta likes again.
some seriously cool work on the LOS, be sure to dump 2-4 bottles of BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD onto it for good measure.
First off: HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!
Woke up with a hangover at 1pm and immediately started to have a suuuuuper long session of painting today, while my GF is working on her project to R2D2-ify the bathroom garbage can.
Here's where I am now. It's starting to shape up good. There's a couple of spots of gold that need work. I've drowned everything in wash, which is drying now. Then it's off to a drybrush all gold with leadbelcher. Then it's the trophies and the fleshy bits, and the blue inner furnace glow and he's pretty much be done. Figure with some luck I can finish him tomorrow.

Wow, just...wow! This makes me so happy!
One thing I already noticed in your last update: Is there a suggestion of a daemonic face behind the Knight faceplate, or am I just imagining things? The lower region does look like a maw, if you ask me...
How did you do the bronze/brass, btw? It's looking great already!
Glad you like it so much man! You're pretty much my go-to frater when it comes to all things Khorne, so I appreciate your feedback very much. And right you are mate! I sculpted a jaw and the muscles for a grissly neck for him. Here's a pic:
My 'brass' recipe is very simple: Valejo Liquid GOld Old Gold, a thick wash of Army Painter Strong Tone and then a drybrush of GW Leadbelcher. The pics so far are sans the drybrush, so even easier
@Marqol: Hey that's actually a pretty cool reference that I never thought of! Might be something I could use for his fluff.
@Tarvick: Hopefully tomorrow!
@Flint13: Haha that's what I was aiming for!
@Atia: Thanks buddy! I love it too
@Midnight Runner: Cheers MR! Red is pretty much the go-to colour indeed. But the cool thing is that he doesn't look out of place among my Night Lords - which was a concern.
@Argent Aquila: thanks man - mostly the trophies will get a lot of Blood for the Blood God love.
And here's a bonus pic of my GFs work on the carbage can.
Good so far, mate. The horns really stand out for me, they've got a very smooth gradiant from base to tip. Kudos for overcoming such an annoying setback so early into the painting process. Oh and congrats on becoming an Uncle!

This. The effect is just sublime!
As for the rest of the model, I am frankly torn between utter admiration for a beautiful, Khornate death machine, and extreme envy because you are able to paint such a massive model to such a standard in such a short amount of time, while I am killing myself over two measly Terminator-sized footsloggers
Excellent work, mate!
P.S: That R2 trash can ROXXORZ, of course!

FINISHED HIM!
Way, way, way more pics in my showcase right HERE...
Replies:
@forte:Thanks man, I hope you like him!
@sockwithaticket: Thanks for all. Yeah the gradient turned out well. It's even better on his ass - check out the pics in my showcase!
@KrautScientist: Cheers K-Sci! I really appreciate your continuing support! Your feedback is of much import to me.

Sorry to double post, but the finishing of the LoS made my hobby jive go in overdrive. So I am determined to finish the Plague Contemptor before I have to start work again. Here's a little update of plain and simple. Work in Progress. Only the blue to grey base colour done, some Valejo Liquid Gold (VLG) Red Gold, and the brown for all the metal parts. I'm now waiting for the wet'n'sloppy brown to dry, so I can start drybrushing. Thought I'd share some pics
So the process I follow for almost all my Night lords is as follows:
All my Airbrush paints are deluted with my special airbrush liquid (SAL), which is a 1:2 mix of Liquitex Airbrush Medium and Valejo Airbrush Cleaner. The cleaner helps a smooth run through the airbrush, while the liquitex medium adds a sturdiness to the paint itself. It's like there's a little bit of liquid latex in the Liquitex medium, which I greatly value.
Ok here's my recipes:
Blue colour:
Lightning:
Metal:
Gold:
Red parts (NL symbol wings, cables, etc.):
Bone:
Lights + OSL:
Skin:
Blood:
I hope this answers some questions I've been asked.
Thanks again for all the comments on the LoS - I really appreciated them, and especially those with constructive feedback about the OSL from his eyes, you guys made me go the extra mile with him!

TRIPLE POST!
Apologies, but I finished the Contemptor. This was last night, but I can only make decent pics when it when it's light out. So here goes.
More pics here in my showcase.
His name is Hargolan Adun, He's attached to my Night Lords Plague Marines detachement, that travel with the armada aboard a stolen Imperial Freighter.
Awesome Augustus! Now, i want to do a Helbrute-Contemptor for my HH Word Bearers if i come to them

Errmaahgerrrd...
Loving that Contemptor, bro. Suitably nurgley, but definitely a Night Lord!
Thanks guys!
With the CoC over for me, I can finally start something I've been dreaming about in the last couple of months. Actually since IA13 came out... a Rapier battery of three quad heavy bolters. With an average of 6-7 MEQ kills per turn and 12 T7 wounds and a 3+ save for a mere 120 points, these things are more OP than a Knight in a 1000 points battle.
I plan on giving all of them an interesting base with some cover, but of course I'll also buy an aegis defence line for them.
So here's some preliminary shots:
Hope you like C&C as always most welcome.
Replies!
@Atia: you should, buddy! They're such awesome, super posable mini's you can't go wrong with them. Well actually you can, but as long as you keep the pose realistic, you can't.
@Argent aquilla: Happy to help out, brother
@Lord Haelim Lev: thanks man, I hope they made you heave!
@MagicMan: thanks mate. It's what I went for.
@helterskelter: Glad it worked man.
great work on the base

Looking good, really like the bases.
Awesome work Augustus, the glow on the Plasma Cannon is ace. Looking forward to your rapiers.
Thanks guys! Pics of the finished rapier can be found here.
As this is a WIP thread, I'll from now on just post a link to the finished models in my Showcase thread. I know most Frater just post pics of finished models in their WIP, but I've been having separate threads for so long it feels weird to switch now.
ANYWAY - I've started my first squad of World Eaters. Thanks to some very good feedback from our Resident World Eater KrautScientist over at my showcase (he told me the marines on my Rapier Battery didn't look VotLW enough ), I decided to make each and every one of these bad boys a character in their own right. I'm not sure if I can stop myself from at least painting two at the same time, but I'll try. The thing is, with the Valejo Liquid Gold paints I'm using, it's very hard to dose, as you cannot paint these paints out of the pot. You have to pour them in a small containter and paint from that. And as the paint is suuuuuper liquid AND it evaporates super fast due to the alcohol thinning liquid, you cannot pour or work with small dosages. The smallest dosage I've ever managed to work with yielded at least half the trim of a contemptor.
Before I get ahead of myself about painting them, I need to build the berzerkers. So here's my first quick build. I'm still not comfortable glueing small parts together using plastic or super glue (small as in tiny details the size of a frag grenade) - especially when it's resin to plastic. So I've only kitbashed a little. No conversions yet.
Hope you like. Feedback most welcome.

Haha, you're not wasting any time, are you? Coming along splendidly!
Did you get the whole Skullcrusher kit or just the helmets? because the little round armour plates look excellent if used at the center of that Mk 3 (?!) breastplate. Like this:
Edited by KrautScientist, 12 January 2015 - 09:22 PM.
Damn you made me like a Chaos tainted Dread And a NL one too.
Also stop making me question if I need to learn to Airbrush, I don't have the time or money in just one man!
But seriously more fine work.
Edited by Noctem Cultor, 12 January 2015 - 09:40 PM.
Just got the helmets - but that too is a good idea. I have some really tiny khorne symbols somewhere, I'll have a looksee.
Love that guy. i might need to get some iron armor, the skull crusher helmets looks slightly mk3-ish anyways and all the details means they might mesh with dark vengeance chosen reasonably well.
Looking forwards to more red guys!
Ah, on the right path finally. That LoS has awakened the thirst.....
Two nights ago, KrautScientist gave me two pieces of advice. They've both turned out to be some of the best advice I've had in years, hobby-wise. First, he told me to see each Space Marine as a character in itself. And it's been a stellar experience. Suddenly I got the infantry vibe flowing again, creating models like I did a couple years back. Getting poses exactly as I want them, putting small details on 'm, everything. They come to life in my hands! The second piece of advice is to use WFB chaos warrior arms+ weapons to affix the FW chain axe heads to. Lemme show you what I mean:
Everybody knows and loves these:
But how to affix them to your models in a sturdy manner? Most of us have tried something like this:
But the best method is this (remember to pin them using a 1mm rod of paperclip):
Now that that is out of the way, lemme show you the three Khorne Berzerkers I've made so far...
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!!
You've seen this guy:
This was number two:
And this is number three (I swear to khorne I bought these MkIII bits from ebay three years ago, in a naive presumption that they were the genuine product (I didn't even know what recasting was back then, as I had just re-started the hobby))
They're not glued yet, but they will be soon enough. I have a wonderful method of trying and then pre-fixing everything with poster buddy, so as to get the best pose and bits.
Hope you like, lemme know what you think! C&C always welcome.
Replies:
@ElDuderino: Great idea to mix the DV guys!
@oldschoolsoviet: Yup, on the path to collecting skulls and spilling blood in the name of Khorne!
