Night Lords 4th Company, The Ruthless Lords (with Primarch!)

Good Morning Everyone! Here is my work in progress Pre-heresy Night Lords. They are the 4th Company, the Ruthless Lords. I've just very recently started in my Night Lords collection, and as I've been kinda short on funds for my Wargaming purposes lately, I've been making due with what I've been able to get my hands on.

Without Further Adieu, I present to you the first of my 8th Legion! Cant have Night Lords without a few Raptors:wink.: I made these guys like a week before Forgeworld released the official Night Raptors so I facepalmed a bit there, but alas, I dont think I did too bad. I did my best to chop off the chaos points and daemony stuff, and the converting challenge was quite fun.

The Huntsman wields a homemade Nostraman Chainglaive made from 2 of the Warp Talon Wings and a chainsword blade. He also bears a few trophies of judgement, a helmet and hunk of a rib cage (courtesy of the kroot from my Tau army)

Next up we have chainsword and plasma pistol guy. Pretty simple, nothing too special here.

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/Night%20Lords/DSC_0517_zpsf87447c6.jpg

On to the Lightning claw/plasma pistol guy! I actually made this guy with a power fist before I got Book II: Massacre, and so I chopped off the fingertips and threw on some claws really quick haha I also greenstuffed a little strip on his shoulder pad just to brake the flatness

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/Night%20Lords/DSC_0514_zpsc8b3b8df.jpghttp://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/Night%20Lords/DSC_0515_zpsa40c3fc7.jpghttp://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/Night%20Lords/DSC_0516_zps5547c501.jpg

Dual Claws guy. I did a little work to him just to make the pose more original. Simply cut the claw and put it on a bent arm

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/Night%20Lords/DSC_0519_zps6e4c26c6.jpghttp://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/Night%20Lords/DSC_0520_zps1ea691a0.jpg

Power Sword Raptor. This guy I wanted to have a power sword, but I didnt want to use the one from the Raptors set and didnt have any fitting ones around, and laying about in my bits was the Forgeworld Fulgrim Blade of Laer (I custom made my own sword for the model, I'll show you guys later) and so I threw it on just for kicks. Its a bit big, but he's just the one guy whos like, "screw this chainsword crap, I'm stealing a Primarch sword!" haha despite its size, its merely a power sword, sorry pal!:tongue.:

Sorry if the picture quality isnt the best, as they are in progress of getting a basecoat.

Although i am making the 4th Company, i'm using these Night Lords in the Drop Site Campaign, so I am also making a few of the notable Night Lords Heroes from  Massacre, the first of which being Flaymaster Llansahai. I havent seen a single person make a model of him, so I thought I might as well be the first! :biggrin.: on his right shoulder pad, I'm going to paint it to be a flayed Orc face

So there are the beginnings of my army! I'll have some more stuff coming up soon! Comments and Criticism are welcome and appreciated!

Glad to see you get some models together!

I love the flaymaster in particular. He'll look great painted up. That homemade chainglaive also looks aces.

Just be sure to go back and smooth out those little areas on the jump packs where you removed the pointy bits. They'll give you hell if you wait until after primer is applied.

Wicked axe/glaive on the huntsman, you've really created a unique weapon for him. The other raptors are looking good aswell, nice asortment of poses with just a few repositioned limbs.

The flaymaster is looking aces and red jaga( I believe that's what the knife is called) is an evil looking conversion and the orc face is a cool idea.

Before you basecoat them though, try to get rid of the mold lines. I spot a few on the backpacks, legs, inside of the turbines etc (you've might already fixed that, in that case carry on :) )

You are of to a great start so keep them coming ;)

Well everyone, I another model to give to you fine people here on Bolter and Chainsword!

Everyone, meet Jago Sevatarion, the Prince of Crows!

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/Night%20Lords/DSC_0469_zpsa7488751.jpg

This fellow here is one of the biggest kitbashes I've ever done. I already had him painted by the time I started this thread, but I thought you'd enjoy anyways. THe base comes from the GW basing kit, legs are from regular Tac marine (cut up and greenstuffed for pose, knee pad for mk IV look from Warp Talons feet), Torso and left from Space Wolves, head is a beaky helmet trimmed down and grooved to look like a mk IV helmet.

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/Night%20Lords/DSC_0473_zps947f8820.jpg

added to the left shoulderpad is a skill with horns bit from the Grey Knight Terminators

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/Night%20Lords/DSC_0474_zps3a685434.jpg

a better look at his Nostraman Chainglaive. power cords from a Nemesis Warding stave, blade from Raptors set, lower shaft is a kroot rifle and the ball on the end is from Immotek the StormLord (courtesy of my brother), and a few nice little dangling bits there as well

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/Night%20Lords/DSC_0478_zps56786bb2.jpg

A look at Sevatar's Iron Halo, which is actually a crest thing that comes off the sides of the plastic Chaos Terminator Lord helmet, and is attached to the grip of a bolter

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/Night%20Lords/DSC_0479_zpsf2b57a29.jpg

Jago's Trophies of Judgement, swinging from his backpack, giving him a nice sense of motion

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/Night%20Lords/DSC_0481_zps1104400f.jpg

On his right shoulderpad is a belt buckle from the space wolves, carved down to be an adornment and painted to have a small Legion Symbol. The knife in his hand is just for show, as I thought it looked better in his hand than a bolt pistol, but he still has one strapped to his thigh

After having looked at these pictures a bit more, I have noticed a few painting flaws that I have since fixed, and I just barely noticed that horrible mould line on the top of his head, so I'll have to shave it down and then repaint it or something haha I'm hoping to buy a wash to help bring a little shine to the blue on the armor. As well, I also recently bought a darker gold which I think fits a little better than the lighter gold. And sorry, I'm not the best painter ever, but I've tried my best.

Thoughts?

Oh and one more note, how do you guys think I should paint up The Flaymaster's knife?

really liking these characterful guys .the chainglaive is sheer genius as it works so well and such a good use of what i personally consider a bad addition to the raptors kit .

a solid paintjob but watch out for those creepy mouldlines:ph34r.: .

personnally i think your painting could use some highlighting to give some depth as at the moment it seems a bit flat for such a cool conversion

Impressive kitbash and the improvised mk 4 helmet is very well done. The lightning is nice and thin and used sparingly, enough to show he's a night lord but not that much that it clutters the model.

Might I ask what kind of blue you've used? It looks almost black in the pictures.

As for the knife on the flaymaster, it's described as a custom scalpel, so maybe a really clean metalics with blood splattered on it or perhaps another esoteric colour to show it's unkown origin.

Thanks! I used GW's Kantor Blue for the armor, i thought it was fitting for the name "Midnight Clad" but yeah, they could use some highlighting around the edges, I need to find a good paint for that. Any suggestions?

Depends on if you'd like to go with a more broad "natural" highlight or a more eye-grabbingly stark edge highlight.

I normally go for a layer of Altdorf guard blue, washed down with drakenhoff nightshade.

Fang then whatever shadow grey is now works well. Or use the same colours you used for the darker lightning parts.

The Fang *is* what shadow gray is now. It's also Fenris gray. at the same time!

Nope. The Fang is actually a bit darker and more opaque ;)

Having a bit of trouble getting pictures, my only good camera right now is an old glitchy Android Incredible that isnt on our cell-plan anymore, but I cant get the pictures off it. Anyone know how to get them off? I've tried Bluetooth, emailing them, facebook, etc, but nothing is working :ermm:

I haven't worked with an Incredible before, but if it's anything like other Android phones, you should be able to hook the phone in to your machine via the USB cable and mount it as a hard drive. IIRC, photos are located in a folder called "DCIM," or something like that.

Anyway, really digging your work - shows a lot of promise. Would love to have clearer pictures of those Raptors, tho.

Awesome kitbashing and paint! Seriously! Another NL out of the woodwork.

Where did this amazing sword come from?

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/Night%20Lords/DSC_0522_zps0ac492f1.jpg

It's Fulgrim's Blade of Laer.

Indeed it is! I had the wonderful opportunity to get a Fulgrim for $35 on ebay, but I made a special sword for him so I could use the Blade of Laer for a late project, which ended up being this fellow! :laugh.:

I'm really interested to see what sword Fulgrim ended up with, considering it's even more special that the Laer blade :happy.:

Well you asked for it, so i might as well throw this in here haha

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/DSC_0424_zps3dd3ee36.jpg

Yes, yes, I know he isnt painted purple, I painted him up for my homebrew Space Marine chapter, which I'm also using as Pre-Heresy Alpha legion since the colors were fairly close, so he's a Fulgrim/Alpharius  an another note, I absolutely CANNOT paint faces, so thats why he has a helmet, there's a grand total of like 3 bare heads in my whole collection :laugh.:

and for you Flint, here's a closeup of his sword

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/DSC_0427_zpsba05213d.jpg

Its made from a grey knight force sword hilt with eldar ammo clips for the crossguard, a little spike on a leather wrapping handle, and the blade is made of a Sanguinary guard sword and a nemesis force halberd tip, quite a project if I dod say so myself!

I hope to get up more Night Lords soon!

Hmm... looks a little stubby, but I  love the shape and color. Is that a dreadnought helmet?

Also, kudos on helmets. Astartes are the pinacle of weapon technology. I find it hard to believe that they would sacrifice that effectiveness by leaving such a glaring weakness in their armor and their ability to assess battlefield situations.

Marines should have them. ^_^
