Cheers guys B) hopefully he will turn out well and do the artwork justice, as I am quite happy with how the conversion turned out.

 

@ Grizz - lol I am unsure what colour to go with; likely not green. Thinking either a warpy brighty electricy blue (in keeping with the artwork Urkrathos' eyes) or to tie in to the Khorne theme some sort of red, perhaps. I am also thinking of keeping the blade silver with the eye only just glowing, atm I am leaning towards the blue.

 

Eventually I will also make some sort of Halberd for him also as per the artwork (right arm is magnetized, yo!).

Amazing work Brother. I look forward to seeing this finished. Just make sure you finish him after 1st of August. A model this good deserves to have time taken over it so slow down a little.

To be fair, I am not one famed for my speedy painting, so hopefully get done in time. I have actually added a small amount of sliver edge highlighting to him and his trusty steed now, so....progress!

ETL complete, I present......

Urkrathos;

.....and the comparison! Not 100% and it certainly shows my messy style up close; I am pretty happy however as at 28mm scale you can definitly see the likeness despite all the detail in the original. You can't see too well but I have painted in some scars.

Thanks for the comments guy's, glad you like him - he has been a real pleasure to build and paint.

 

IP - What is next? I intend on finishing my Chosen squad which are half painted. After that it will be Berzerkers, Possessed, Bikes or Subtle Discord Rhinos. Or possibly Urkrathos' entourage of Flesh Hounds! Or my Blood Thirster....most likely stick with marines for now.

 

You may have noticed from that list that I am using KDK for the time being. Can't help it, Khorne is my first, though not only, love ;)

An absolutely wonderful piece! I do have to say, however, that I always interpreted the whole facial area as a mask, instead of just the part surrounding the eyes (even though the coloured artwork makes it look otherwise). Such concerns aside, you've really knocked it out of the park with this model, mate! Brilliant!

Kraut -  Thanks for the comment mate, glad you approve of him :smile.: I can totally see where you are coming from with that, I kind of went with it due to his rather large horns/no ears/completely scary visage. I don't know why, and I am no doubt utterly wrong, but he just screams Lheorvine Ukris to me; I would imagine that he would be pretty gnarled as well as mutated to a degree by late 40k. The look makes him look far removed from the original Astartes he once was at the start of the Long War, they are now so much more.

Build wise I am currently working on some Rhino's a la Subtle Discord, I must say they look delicious! Stay tuned I have my Chaos mojo back :smile.:

As it happens, I've had the same idea myself -- Lheor could indeed become Urkrathos. We'll have to wait for ADB to finish the next book(s) though in order to see how it all plays out ;)

Well, his second name could be a play on Urkrathos, or it could be some totally devious ADB coincidence.....after all Khayon insinuates that he himself could possibly be Ymgarl the Deciever....or not. I kind of imagine two of Abaddons current Chosen being originals, the other two (Skyrak Slaughterborn and Devram Korda) being promoted due to the deaths of predecessors. Either way, after reading Talon, the Firefist was one of my fave characters and I seriously, like seriously can't wait for the next installment. Lheor has such depth, especially given his patron.

Here is a slight update, actually got some painting done before the weekend, though unfortunatly I have ran out of Agraz Earthshade so had to stop.....Rhinos a la Subtle Discord and you can just about see some objective markers (based on a new AoS Khorne Rune). Can I just say Subtles kits are absolutely marvelous in person, they fit so well even with a numpty like me working with them. Really looking forward to getting these done. Very messy at the moment, however -

Ignore the mold line on his bonce, as I am unsure whether to keep it (!) as I may paint the front half gold, the back half black. Possibly add some horns too.

I stopped short of adding the bunny ears however, just going to use those on my Berzerkers. They need a few more spikes (Champion's footplate esp) and some greenstuffing, btwI haven't used greenstuff 'Chosen pads' so as to differentiate them from my other squad on the table as they tend to run in tandem. With Urkrathos. An his posse of Flesh Hounds :devil: As ever, C&C most welcome!
