I dont know if this has been asked, but how or where are you getting those mkiv helmets with the teeth respirators like on your apothecary? Are they a personal cast?

Excellent stuff btw

DimDim, the helmets with the teeth respirator are from the FW World Eaters conversion set with the "Bunny Ears" trimmed off and a vent added to the top. I believe that Poom made a few and then molded and cast them up.

ephrael is absolutly right. Here is a picture of the conversion I casted a few times:

This is my interpretaion of the Sarum pattern helmet. I am a little disapointed that FW went for gladiator styled heads for the World Eaters and not the so very iconic Sarum one. If you look at old heresy WE artworks you will see them allot and in modern fluff (AD-B ) they are featured too.

Sorry for the lack of updates recently but I was very bussy drinking Mojitos and smoking Habanos:

Some paint in progress:

http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Block3%202.jpg

And as the oilcolor is drying right now I got time to mess aroung with new toys.
I want to build two Castellax with Multimelta and Siege Wreckers, two big and mean wreckingballs biggrin.png

As there is no FW modell for a Siege Wrecker I have to convert them. Inspiration comes from this fanmade artwork:
http://image.bolterandchainsword.com/uploads/gallery/album_9225/gallery_53779_9225_284142.jpg
This is done by Iron Hands Fanatic, go check out his awsome Stuff:
http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/287213-clan-brannsar/

So the conversion is quite simple, I just replaced the Castellax clam with a Siege Drill from the Centurions:

http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Castellax02_03.jpg
What do you think?

The rest of the two guys is mostly in pieces, so still allot of stuff to do:

Wow Poom you rock some excellent models I don't even really like most world eaters models but these are solid gold fella you're white looks so real the weathering and shading are well and above my own humble skills I'm new to Bolter and Chainsword but not the hobby and I have recently started sinking my skrilla into these epic (expensive) looking forge world sculpts, curse you beautiful iron armor.  What sets did you use for the MKIII legs on you're Triarii I am starting an imperial fists army and I am in the midst of building two 20 man tactical squads and I would love to get some of the same dynamic sense of motion you have in you're Triarii as opposed to 40 flat footed dudes in yellow.  I was wondering if you if you cut and repositioned any of the legs if you did you did it so well I can't see the cut lines and love some tips before I start carving up $$$$  of forge world Resin.

Thanks

Thanks guys for the nice feedback! You realy keep me motivated smile.png

Never cease to amaze me poom.

What kinda stuff are they putting in your mojitos to make you paint so well?! tongue.png

When can we see a family picture with your WEs and AdMech?

Well, there is still some Mechanicum stuff lying around, mostly vehicles. But when they are done I could do a family foto smile.png I hope they look good togeather even with the different base sheme.

Love it. The red soil on the tech priest is spot on for Mars! May I ask how you achieved that effect?

It is very simple actually. I start by painting the sand Banblade Brown and the stones Charadon Granite. So a light brown for most of the base and a dark grey for the stones. Then I brush on the hole base Standard Rust Pigment from MIG. I use it dry, directly out of the pot. Blow away all loose pigments and seal it with MIG pigment fixer. When this is dry I go again with pigments, Standard Rust and on some places a little bit Light Rust. Blow away all loose pigments and you are done.

The very bright effect comes from the unsealed pigments (also the dark paint scheme helps), the downsied of this is that you will loose some over time, so if you plan on transporting your miniatures I would not recoment to use a foamtray. Better to glue a magnet under the base and transport them in a metal box so nothing comes in direct contact with the base.

I used half the mk3 despoilers and half Iron Hands mk3 squad. I think I only reposed one or two legs. What works great is to use the running leg, with the bended knee. Just cut it of at the hip and glue it on in a slightly different angle so your marine looks like he is resting his leg on a skull, hill or helmet.

Hope it helps, have fun with your IF!

Those are probably my favorite bases. Ever.

I can't express this enough, every visit to this log is a treat. I could look at pictures of your models for hours. All the subtle modifications you've made to the Mechanicum range is so tasteful.

Whoa dang those bases are really something else and the heraldry on the Thanatar is just next level. Amazing stuff. (Also I'm a huge fan of your World Eater Plasma Support Squad made out of those Iron Hands dudes. I grabbed some Immortals off of eBay a while back but haven't done them up for my Alphas, I'm going to have to spend some time cleaning the cogwheels off of them at some point).

Hey guys,
had finnaly a game with the Redjak! I basicly fielded everything that is painted, exept the assassine. It came to 1500 points.
My friend had his Ottomans - in space - Astra Militarum, but sadly forgot to bring one of his miniaturecases containing most of the tanks.. so without his big guns you can imagine how it played out..

drool.gif Love the scheme for these, makes them look even more foreboding than they usually do. That Thanatar! If I were to ever take the plunge into the heresy it would with Mechanicum and threads like this are a large part of the reason why.

The photo of the lone storm trooper facing up to the Thanatar is a really nice summation of what service in the Guard is all about.

Do you have any plans to incorporate the new GW Admech minis into your army? smile.png

I am thinking about to use the GW Skitarii as a little Solar Auxillia allied force. The "Ranger" as a big 20 man squad and the "Vanguard" as a storm section, all with volkite charger biggrin.png

But lets wait what comes next week for them. Maybe I just start a regular GW Skitarii force in the future. Anyway I am very exited about this release!
