As for the Scyllax....

http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/IMG_20160415_105027_2.jpg

I wanted them to be robo-raptors, now with all the bits on the model, they look more like crazy space rats http://heresy30k.invisionzone.com/public/style_emoticons/default/blink.png

The conversion is based on some Scyllax Tim from the Eye of Horus Podcast did recently. Basicly it is a Scyllax body with GW Ruststalker legs.

There will be a magnet on the back to add Deathrays or Rotorcannons.

Like the velociraptor (I think), use a bigger claw for the thumb joint and maybe some bigger claws on the feet, may help take away the look of robo-rat.

The skulls look cool, are they from the skeleton horses? Maybe slightly bulkier skulls would help?  Use Saurus heads and paint the flesh to look like metallic scales, even smooth some of the flesh away and paint it like a metal skull (like in the terminator movies) remove some of the eyes and kitbash some bionics?

Hmm, I think there's two things you could look in order to make thes look more like Velociraptors:

One, the skulls, as the other guys pointed out: The skulls you have right now are cool, but not saurian enough. I think the jaws need to be longer -- although I don't have any clever idea for an actual bit that might work...

Two, if I remember my hazy (albeit pretty extensive) dinosaur knowledge correctly, dinosaurs like the Velociraptor or Deinonychus used their tails as a stabiliser while running, keeping it mostly straight. Therefore, maybe straigthening out those tails a bit would make them look less ratlike?!

I feel like if the pose that hormagaunts are in would look like this

The skull is from Archmagos Draycavak wich I casted a few times. I am pretty sure it is based on a wolf skull. I realy love this head, with all the augumentaions and cables.. changing him is no option msn-wink.gif

But those tails have tools at the end, they need to be flexible biggrin.png Also I think them beeing in motion gives the models much more dynamic.

Thank you very much on the input to the raptors, but I feel like them to be more raptor like would need a totaly differen basemodel. When I first saw the conversions Tim did, the raptor idea came directly to mind but while building them and seeing that this will not realy work I became ok with it. They are now a crazy mix out of dinosaur, dog and rat biggrin.png

Yeah, I realised that before, but the simple fact that they are being kept straight during the one moment we actually see the creature in model form doesn't mean that they cannot be moved. And I think it's something that would really remove the model's "rattiness" -- which you mentioned was a problem. But yeah, your models, your decision, of course.

Oh, and excellent paintjob on the tank, of course.

Love the Scyllax, I feel like the rat look is coming from the short necks and the hunched look the carapace is giving. Not much you can do with the bodies but you could definitely lengthen the necks to give them the raptor "s" shaped neck if you really wanted. Brilliant idea either way, and I love the Glaive!

It is not realy a problem, they just did not turn out how I imagined them in my head before I startet the conversion. Nevertheless I am very happy how they turned out.

I am now waiting for the rotorcannons and vokite charger to arrive and then these guys go back on the table to figure out how to attach them on the back.

jawdrop.gif Beautiful!

Where's the driver's hatch at though? Maybe it's an irising door, or internal...

Yeah that was what I thought, somewhere on the inside. I don't like them on the outside too much because they are pretty big.

The white is super simple. All you need is a good white undercoat and some oilwashes.

I mix myself a thinn oilwash out of a black and brown oilcolor and allot of odorless thinner. When dry I add here and there some special effects with pre mixed oilbased solutions. I realy like Engine Oil from AK Interaktiv and Engine Grime from MIG Jimenez. This is a nice video from MIG explaining how to apply some of those effects:

I like the raptors almost as they are- they look like scavengers, so rat heads seem like the way to go. Putting one of the hooded/armored skaven heads on the and redoing the teeth would fit their profile, i'd guess and would also put the head into "the right size/proportion" territory. There's that plaguemonk head with censers for eyes for example...
