Love it, great work. Have to say [and completely not your fault] but the Red Butchers look like they're doing the 'Thriller' dance. FW went a little over the top with their posin imo.

Ha totally see that now!

Love the army shot Poom, looks amazing.

Thanks guys!

Yesterday I started cleaning up this beauty:

http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Fireraptor102.jpg

Can't wait to put it together, sadly I first will have to get rid of some extra thick mold release agent:

http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Fireraptor106.jpg

This is after washing it three times with a toothbrush and soap water down.gif Anybody got some tips how to remove that?

It is still sticky and I fear the color will not hold on it...

I heared nail polish remover will do the trick, but I am not sure if this will damage the resin.

I would suggest that you call FW customer service and explain the problem.  It is more likely that the resin isn't properly cured and will continue to "weep" forever.  FW will send replacement parts to you and you won't have to worry about the paint constantly falling off the model.

If you go the nail polish remover route, make sure it is acetone free remover. Otherwise it'll damage the resin. Looking forward to seein this raptor!

But will it be strong enough without aceton? I just tryed out everything I had in the house, Cillit Bang a very agressiv cleaner for the kitchen and also cleaning gasoline (not sure if that is the correct translation) both potent in removing fat.. both faild.

Great Army shot poom! I'd try a really fine grade sandpaper to remove the release agent. A knife blade can also be used to remove the agent from hard to reach areas.

To be honest I had to smile a bit when I first red your comment, but now after everything I tryed faild, I am realy considering your suggestion.. but removing it from the gaps and rivets will be very challenging.

Did you post a tutorial for your models btw Poom? Couldn't see one but would be very interested in hearing how you achieved the white. Mine always comes out darker!

I didn't do a tutorial with pictures and stuff, just wrote this:

Hope it helps.

I wrote them a email yesterday. But I did not ask for a replacement, just wanted to know if they could give me some suggestions how to get rid of the release agent. That stuff is realy tenacious, maybe you are right and it is some sort of misscast?

With out these two parts I can not realy start building, so for now I just did some little stuff:

http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Fireraptor110.jpg

I removed the eagles on the plastic parts

http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Fireraptor108.jpg

I build the pilot.. used some mk2 and mk4 parts so he fits better in the HH setting.

As I want to glue the gunner balls shut, it would be a waste to loose those cool mk4 helets with optics. So I cruedly cut them off and put them in my bitsbox cool.png

I would definitely call FW if they don't reply to your email. Their customer service is top notch and they'll solve your problem. I've worked with lots of FW kits and never had the problem you have there. I have some experience in mold making and casting and I have had a similar issue that you are experiencing. I would bet anything that it's a problem with the resin itself, that's not release agent.

On another note, those MK IV heads are amazing. I collect and cast every HH variant I can get and I'd kill to have that helmet. I'm sure that you will find a great use for them. If you do want to trade one out drop me a pm and we'll talk.msn-wink.gif

Good enough mate - similar to mine then, although you thin your ink more. Pleasing to hear!

Hey guys,

well it has been a while..here is a little update. Sadly not much World Eater stuff, the only thing I did there was to finish building the Fireraptor and started the base.

http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Fireraptor112.jpg

I called FW and they replaced the side parts. It took some time to arrive, as they casted it extra for me, but thats ok.. I am happy it is finnaly build smile.png

Most of my hobby time I spent building Mechanicum models. I want to build the dark mechanicum clan from Redjak. They were liberated by the World Eaters and Legio Audax on Sarum during the golgothan slaughter and since then supplied and supported them for the great crusade and the coming Horus Heresy.

All of this is more or less done:

This week I want to start painting biggrin.png

And in other news I am one of the very lucky people that gets a miniature reinterprated as an artwork done by Mr. Greyall! Yay!

So my World Eater chaplain will soon make a apearance on his thread:

Simply amazing, well done for a spot on representation of the World Eaters! I'd say more but I think I'd just be repeating what others have said :)

Can't wait to see the finished Warhound in its entirety. Would you mind explaining how you got the grid effect on its armour? I've seen that effect before and would love to have a go at it myself.

Keep it up! :D
