PFC Genji Shiro, slogging through the mud behind enemy lines during the Gefeoght Campaigns, late M41:

gallery_53134_7133_12706.jpg

The House Guard wear a basic loose fitting olive drab uniform with the forearms and calves wound in canvas wrappings, and tough "rough out" boots. Stamped iron plates cover the forearms and shoulders, which are integrated into the leather webbing. The distinctive steel helmets are made from a primary stamped shape that has extra strips riveted to it for support and unobstrusive integrated basic squad level communications. The frame of the ruck sack is also metal, but of a lighter alloy, that is also integrated with the leather ruck. The lasgun he carries is a "Waelheim pattern" lasgun, produced in-house in the armouries of the space hulk The Child of Calamity. The chained and over sized battery pack does not provide stronger power output, but does produce a significantly extended period of consistent and focused output. This was developed to enable sustained operation during potentially long periods without resupply while behind enemy lines. The unusual placement of the battery pack and initial energy coils allows for the barrel to be effectively shortened by moving it back, providing the accuracy and range of a long-las in a las-carbine package. Shiro, like most soldiers in the Air Assault brigades, has removed his the folding stock on his lasgun, a design notorious for interfering with the safe operation of grav chutes during Vendetta deployment.

Shiro is wearing a flag attached to his ruck sack, called a sashimono, a tradition of the Saga military traditionally held to survive from ancient Terra. Not all brigades of the House Guard are entitled to wear one, but may be awarded the right to a particular sashimono design by the Warsmith. Air Assault Unit. No. 108 was recently conferred the rare distinction of the black and yellow "siege stripes," rarely seen outside of the Warsmith's own veteran space marines. Though awarded to a unit as a whole and worn until the unit is retired (or the Warsmith rescinds the honour as punishment for actions antithetical to what it symbolizes,) PFC Genji himself took part in the "forlorn hope" operation that cracked a particularly stubborn enemy fortress, which earned AA.108 the honour.

After only seeing this tonight, would I still be able to take part?

Unfortunately not, the deadline for enlistment has passed sad.png We are always recruiting for the next ETL if you still wish to prove your mettle!

Just edited my post..changed the base and gave him a 5 o'clock shadow. Also made up a regiment

Nice, I didn't even think he needed more work! Are you sure you don't want to write a bit of blurb? We're only looking for a minimum word count, not Shakespeare tongue.png

@ -Max-: It normally starts in May and runs through until August.

Perfect timing for my final push to complete my army for Astronomi-con! Looking forward to it.

Did I somehow miss the Librarium Painting Challenge 2014? Isn't it usually shortly after Xmas? Was there no LPC this year?

The Librarium challenge is no more - not least because there is no Librarium anymore... Sigismund not being around much is another reason.

Anyways as people said, expect the ETL soon - like really soon...

It may well be, there's some ideas bounding around (mostly the other mods trying to stop me running off with things currently) but let's concentrate on this first - and the impending ETL! biggrin.png

Haha he has at least 2000 points worth of friends and machinery haha. I await the ETL with both enthusiasm and dread!

On a side note, what is the recommended method of uploading pics?

Either upload the pics in your album in the forum gallery (you need to create it if you already do not have one) and link them in your posts. Alternatively you can upload them in the photobucket (or similar) and use the direct links here. Don't forger to copy/paste the links in the field provided in the menu bar of your post editor (click the rectangular blue-ish "image" button).

Here's my completed model. Tried doing mostly just Washes this time (cause I'm prepping to paint my Inq list as such next):

++++++++++AutoCortexLog: ALRG/t/11830/ps
+++++++++++++++Location: [Redacted] Secarus Sector
+++++++++++++++++Author: Enforcer Denmad
+++++++++++Mission Time: 0105 - 0011830.M41

Orders are in, everyone is to extract South West and rendezvous with the transport Banality of Life by 0300, just short of the Curtain Wall, 7 kilometers away. My Platoon has scattered, the last of my squad mates were ground to dust in the last barrage, and the Legions have all but left us.

Only the insane and the damned remain in this plague ridden place.

4 scatter, and 2 solid shells left. 12% on my rebreather. Rations ran out four days ago, and water a day ago. At least Marrow Cleaver does not need for anything and remains by my side. 18 years of fighting through mud, acrid rain, blood and bodies and for what?

Should we have been swayed by the Cardinal in the first place? No, this is not time for doubt. I was set on this path the moment I murdered Riley in his sleep. He deserved it, even for a PDF Commanding Officer he had been a nuisance to server under. Like the incessant ringing in my head. He and his whole cadre deserved to die.

6 kilometers to go. My arms claw into the muddy sides of the trench, I feel the Warp constrict my sinews. Even now my true masters, look upon me. My attentions refocus on the present.

Apostate Eslaf had assured us that there is a plan, that we will reconstitute and that we will receive our recompense in time. If he doesn't make good on it, I will split him open from groin to throat. I have been promised too much, given up too much, and done too many unspeakable things to end up trading one lie for another.

5 kilometers to go. I can hear the rattle of Korp equipment over the next rise. I feel the dull hum of Marrow Cleaver as the irregular edges of its grip bite into my hand. I will not allow them to delay me.

In response to your request for status:

As of 0200 - 0069831.M41 the Cadian 15th Regiment 20th Company aboard the strike cruiser Only In Death have translation back into realspace. This constitutes a delay of 19 standard years due to currently indeterminate warp anomalies.

Our previous orders from 811.M41 to rearm and reconstitute at the Departmento Munitorium Armory within the Secarus Sector are complete. Our current strength stands at 3 full Platoons, including heavy weapons and Sapper Squads; though previous exposure to hazardous environments have necessitated ongoing use of breathing apparatus by some of our personnel.

Our company has otherwise also been reinforced by 5 Leman Russes, 6 Chimeras, 2 Hellhounds, various artillery vehicles including Bombards and Manticores, a StormLord, air support in the form of Valkyries, Vendettas, Vultures and other auxiliary units.

Our current orders are to link up and consolidate with the remnants of the Krieg 19th Regiment 88th Siege Army, rendezvous with Battlefleet Cobalt, and then be subsumed into the Cadian 412th.

We will continue to maintain our current tan and olive disruptive pattern scheme and Lernaean Dragon unit insignia until such time that our parent Regiment dictates differently.

Rest assured that the entirety of our Company is now made up of veterans from several previous major conflicts that should no doubt be an advantage for the future. Furthermore, it should also be noted that, as it stands on record, none of our current Company’s members have ever fled from any engagements with Chaos forces despite incidents of horrific losses incurred by adjoining allies.

Our specific areas of competence include close protection of HQ personnel and VIPs, local information gathering in support of strategic planning, escort of key assets and resources (to include Grade – Alpha munitions), setup of early warning security and population assurance.

In all of these endeavors, we will continue to serve the Imperium with unwavering loyalty, exceptional operational capability and unprecedented cunning.

The corpse Emperor guide you.

Regimental Fluff

Levallois is a mercury sized planet in the Segmentum Pacificus 12 parsecs from the Forgeworld of Stygies. Human population of the planet is in region of 20 billion according to imperial records, with the population split between to hive cities at the poles. According to pre-imperial records Levallois has had a human colony since the fall of old night. Levallois was brought under imperial rule during the early part of M31, however exact details of the expeditionary force that liberated the plant has been purged from imperial records. Local myths surrounding the liberation describe the liberation force as red armoured copper skinned Astartes. The Life Guards was founded directly after the liberation, initially prior to imperial rule they were praetorians to a faction ruler (Tsar) from the southern hive. The recruits would swear an oath of loyalty to the ruler giving the life to the Tsar hence the name life guards. With the transition to imperial rule the oaths of loyalty were changed to the emperor and the tradition continued. Further data from regimental history indicates that as a further act of fealty the Life Guards adopted the bright red tunics in homage to the liberating Astartes and the Imperial Army units that arrived alongside them.
During the Horus Hersey planet and regiment remained loyal to the emperor, however as Levallois is on a warp route between Stygies and Terra the planet was of strategic importance to the rebels, and as a result was invaded by forces loyal to the Warmaster. The regiment served valiantly during this time holding the spaceport in the southern hive city for 6 months before relief came in the form of the first legion. Post Hersey the regiment has continued to serve the Imperium with honour on countless war zones. Most notably they were part of 7th army group of the lord commander Solar Macharius crusade, notably they were among forces that brought the planet of Jucha back to the light if the emperor.
As the Life Guards are recruited from a Hive world the combat doctrine of the company has been influenced by their homeworld, as a result the Life Guards are specialise in urban warfare.
Guardsman Fluff

Hector Czako was born in the 13th sector of the southern hive of Levallois. Having completed his education, rather than serve the Emperor in one of the many industrial complexes that ring the Hive he chose to enlist in the Life Guards following in the footsteps of his brothers and grandfather. Having passed his basic training with satisfactory grades he has transferred to E Company of the 2nd Battalion of the 7th Levalloisian Life Guards. Czako for an Imperial guardsman is considered a veteran for having survived in the field longer than the average 16 hours. Having survived two tours of duty he was promoted to Sergeant (due to the fact the most of his company were wiped out). However since his promotion he was busted back down to Rifleman, after an incident involving a Rattling, a bottle of engine oil, a shaved goat and large amount of alcohol (further details sealed by the Commissariat) whatever the finer details he was spared a bolt round to the head and continues to serve the Emperor.
