Ripper.McGuirl
Hey B+C! It's been a while since I've posted anything here, but I've spent the last few months working on an Alpha Legion army for Adepticon, and I just finished up! I'm super excited, as this is the first army I've started fresh in at least 10 years. It was a pleasure to have a set goal, both in terms of time and army list, and just work towards it until it was done! I will be expanding this army in the future, but I'm waiting for Book III before I make any decisions.... Anyway, here's my dudes! http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-POU0MEq5Lgw/Uy34njRqliI/AAAAAAAAEgk/V_EcehOZpdU/s1600/1850Shot.jpghttp://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2IJY23HrC3M/Uy34nnUg4TI/AAAAAAAAEgo/Nl2RLCixhXg/s1600/1850CloseUp.jpghttp://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Fcr2xYTy5B8/Uy34tU30dZI/AAAAAAAAEhU/T5r96zYUabA/s1600/UmbraTactical.jpghttp://2.bp.blogspot.com/-C-IXr1f-MqQ/Uy34t1FsxNI/AAAAAAAAEhk/4SkqlmokKes/s1600/UmbraTactical2.jpghttp://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oYGUNRKcUL8/Uy34rTkygTI/AAAAAAAAEg8/xQIRgzoOvTw/s1600/MortisDreads.jpghttp://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4V49JLkOlBQ/Uy34niGfMbI/AAAAAAAAEgg/76NfaAr2hcc/s1600/AssaultDetails.jpghttp://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Dk-WlBRcRKU/Uy34sw53BeI/AAAAAAAAEhQ/7d-TiJ-6d6E/s1600/TigrusDetail.jpghttp://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WJgNZZMWM9A/Uy34tT84q3I/AAAAAAAAEhc/lge2pcT7vEU/s1600/UmbraDetails.jpg http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1cwW6KpP4RA/UsmHTjV3zJI/AAAAAAAAEEU/IZQEfRfJLkQ/s1600/MOS1.jpghttp://2.bp.blogspot.com/-14V6kjib0Ng/UsmHUCEBF5I/AAAAAAAAEEc/22KJfP8YqmM/s1600/MOS2.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-n61gOBxKPf8/UsmHVtcL4QI/AAAAAAAAEFI/qGS2xs8f7hA/s1600/Vigilator3.jpghttp://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TSsDbogcHFA/UsmHVQVXJfI/AAAAAAAAEE0/KKa_Jg3H4Mc/s1600/Vigilator2.jpg

Monstra Sumus
Holy hand grenade, these are fantastic. I'm loving the spartan uniform across them and the grime is perfect.
Ferro
Beautifully collected, modeled, and painted. I appreciate your thorough eye for detail and consistent use of pre-heresy armor and accessories. You've made a fantastic army that looks consistent and real. They actually tell a story, and it starts with "We're here to :cuss you up!" Love it. Ripper.McGuirl
Thanks guys! I'm really happy with this bunch of duplicitous jerks. As for the turquoise....It's embarassingly easy. Prime black. Paint all the plates hawk turquoise (not leaving the black lining around the plates like I would normally do). Sponge battle damage with terracotta, sponge a little less battle damage with uniform grey. Touch up the battle damage with hawk turquoise where it got a little out of control. Wash every inch of it with army painter strong tone (soak up any excessive pools with a clean brush). Re-highlight with hawk turquoise. Pow. I did do some of these guys by airbrushing the turquoise on, but that just saved time, and didn't effect the look at all. I've got a bunch more pics and WIP on my blog. Dam13n
Epic stuff, would have liked more than once if I could. I'd normally try and offer suggestions or advice when I post in the PC&A, but I've got nothing... I love the weathering and battle damage. The chevrons are of equal height and not too garish on the yellow. The little white hydras are also a very cool idea, as are the little individual touches that you've put on each model. Kudos to you. Trysanna
The best Pre-Heresy Alpha Legion I've seen in a long time. Well done! I really like the use of white as a detail color, it works well with the blue. I'[m curious what you'll be adding with Book 3! -Tarvik
