Spaz431 Posted April 19, 2014 Share Posted April 19, 2014 With codex MT, you can use the tempestus as your main, but it will be those three troop choice and the command with the commissar. The commissars rules dictate that If there is a model with officer ranks around he is subservient to the officer, so the single wound model becomes your HQ. Dam13n Posted April 19, 2014 Share Posted April 19, 2014 I think the key thing here is what the wording of the Dataslate that contains the Formation is. i.e. if it states that it can be used as your primary detachment, then it obviously can and counts as the required primary detachment that every army must contain. The fact that a primary detachment must be taken does not change, where that detachment comes from is dependent on which codex/supplement/dataslate you are using. Morollan Posted April 21, 2014 Share Posted April 21, 2014 Unless it specifically says that it can be taken as a primary detachment (which I doubt) then you still need a separate primary detachment of at least 1 HQ and 2 Troops from a codex (or other source) capable of allying with the faction that the formation is chosen from (usually stated in the formation rules).
