Fortress or command squad?

Dread

Recommended Posts

It has been quite awhile since I fielded a Greenwing army. That being said, which of these do you think would be more beneficial in a 2k army? The command squad would consist of 2 meltaguns, champ, apothecary and banner bearer (chapter banner) in a razorback w/TL lascannons. Fortress w/krak storm and 2 hvy bolters. I put it out to you brothers, thanks.

Well I don't see those two options as being mutually exclusive.

I think we need a bit more insight into the rest of your list before we can make an assessment as to what would work best for you :)

Cheers

I agree with Isiah - it would definitely help to know what else you have in mind.

You say greenwing, but are you aiming for a mobile force or a more static one, for example?

Yes and for the price of either u could take a nephilim, and while I'm normally recommending the ol neph situationally it's certainly more capable at doing stuff than a command squad on foot with full upgrades, or a fortress

Asmodai,

4 10 man tac squads (plasma cannon/guns, 1 lascannon/meltagun, 1meltagun/plasma cannon),  all sqts are vets w/PP/PS

vet squad 10 CC weapons 2with melta guns, drop pod

assault squad sgt has melta b and p sword

dev squad 4 missile launchers

dev w/ 3 heavy b and a MM

pred annihaltor

My 2 buds that are part of my team up, 1 will be playing Deathwing and the other Mixedwing.

Opponents I believe will be nids, CSM and not sure of the other yet.

As for my list, all the models I have are accounted for. I generally play DW myself and RW which I have a large amount of. The main rule set up for the challenge is no fire turkeys are allowed so a flyer will not be totally needed.

Okay, it looks like you have an army of footsloggers with a couple of close combat oriented units which can get to the enemy side of the board. You have enough tactical squads to advance and hold home objectives.

Whilst a fortress might be of use to make your backline hard to take down it does take movement away from you and (if memory serves) you can't put an objective in it, so the command squad, advancing alongside your tactical squads and with a banner could strengthen the advance of your tactical marines, allowing them to mow down smaller nids and put a lot of wounds on power-armoured foes. That would strengthen your advance and allow you to put more pressur eon your opponent which you can then exploit with your veterans and assault squad.

If that's how you want to play it, of course.
