THE ETL III IS OFFICIALLY OVER...



This is the official close of ETL III.


No more completions will be accepted beyond this point.


You are free to post comments, pictures or questions but no further completions will be accepted.

Congratulations to all participants - It has been a monumental event!


Now I will compile the results and update the first page in all Strategiums posting the usual "updated to this point" once finished. Feel free to visit the Strategiums and let me know if you spot an omission or a mistake so I can correct it.


I will prepare the Final Report that hopefully will be ready on Sunday, August 3rd (so people will have a good Sunday read).

Unfortunately I'm not going to make it. The past two nights have seen me working until 2am when I'm meant to finish at 5pm everyday (such are the joys of IT)

So I've not had the time available to finish my vow sad.png Such a shame too as I was liking how my breachers were coming out)

Get the badge of shame ready, There's space in my sig for it

Hmmm ... How many have u completed? If it's just breachers I might be able to make up the missing number as I'm back in manchester in an hour. Lol ... Can even make them have matching bases. msn-wink.gif

Haha nice try but there was no way it was gonna happen. there's a good 20 models to finish. which I coulda done had work not interrupted.

Thanks to Capt. Semper - another blinding event, any questions (in their myriad forms) were sorted quickly and the while event has been run smoothly.

 

Whilst I was unable to do more than my two vows I thoroughly enjoyed taking part and watching all the beautiful models take shape.

 

As a member of The Rout at heart and shielded in the hatred of my foes for slaying the Gorgon, I must give an honoured response... I shall be back, and when I am alongside my heresy brothers we WILL crush our brethren of the 41st millenium. ;)

The challenge of ETL 4 will be 30k of 30k. Can anyone do it?

 

Edit: I'm not saying I will do it but one wonders if it's possible. Given approximately 90 days. Would need to do 1,000 pts every 3 days.

if you have a spray gun and a decent technique you could bash out the layers relatively quick, I mean I cheat and use washes and dry brushing ALOT, i think i can hoard 30k worth of 30k, it'd be hard to resist painting curze and sevatar

Steve Shields got pretty close with just over 27,000 points. And he got interrupted by real life. So its a possibility.

Definitely doable if structured. Depends on the level of detail etc. - I'd like to see someone bosh it out to a very good standard too.

Hmmm ... Not to knock certain mega vows that have been done of late but it does seem they do them to an ETL finish rather than actually finished. They even admit this in the WIP threads. :(

To be fair, it's all subjectivity and down to individual's skill: I paint everything I do to near enough the best of my ability, and wouldn't want to phone in something half-finished or not done. Inevitably, there may be things I can improve on, or go back to check I've done it perfectly - but I think on the whole people are honest and want to do it, rather than disingenuously trying to score lots of points. We ribbed the Black Templars relentlessly, but it does take skill to get black looking good - and as long as people are attempting their best and a three colour minimum, I have no objections.

 

Albeit, there is the risk with a vow of that size, that it might happen!

If someone was attempting to do 30k then if you were sensible you'd have to break it down into say 10k, 8k, 6k, 4k, 2k. Can you imagine painting 29,500 points and failing the last 500 points so loosing so many points?
