The Crimson Sons of Vengeance have been a DIY Chapter I created and keep re-tooling across the years. As a successor to the Blood Angels they are the current guardians of the Dolchiate Sector and this thread will be my WIP thread of my attempt to effectively repaint all of my models into the new CSoV colors(and I might throw in some fluff bits here and there as well, although for more on that I would recommend the link in my sig!) Brother Dallo Posted May 6, 2014 Share Posted May 6, 2014 That's an impressive list you have there. It'd be great to see most, or all of painted. I have to say I love the bone coloured death company. My current painted members of the death company are white, but I may have to repainting them bone, if I get the time. I'll be watching this with anticipation. Do your Crimson Sons of Vengeance have any background yet? I'll be putting up my vow tonight. Just something small to keep me sane with all of my exams. It'd be great if you'd check it out. I've been following almost every WIP vow thread there is so I'll be looking for it! EDIT: As for plasma pistols...the group I play with agree upon weapon proxies. So 15 years ago the kit didn't come with any other weapons and 12 year old me wanted to have a "legal" army to play with. Thus why my first Vow was "small". If I can do 20 assault marines in the span of 2 weeks, then math says I should be able to do 200 more before the end of ETL. Brother Dallo Posted May 7, 2014 Share Posted May 7, 2014 Yep, I got my WIP up and running, which is awesome. Thanks for the kind words. Have you tried the Mechrite Red spray? It takes a lot of the work out of basecoating red. I've just noticed your orange plasma coils. I don't think I've seen many orange plasma weapons before. It's a good look. Do you plan on adding squad and company markings? Does your chapter follow the Blood Angel marking convention, Codex squad marking convention, or one of your own? I find it's these little details that make a model "pop". Any idea on your basing scheme? I'm toying with snow, as my friend has a Fenris board, and it'd be cool (pun fully intended) to match his Wolves. As we say back home, Keep 'er lit! Dolchiate Remembrancer Posted May 7, 2014 Author Share Posted May 7, 2014 Yea I've never done spray painting(aside for the base coat of white or black to hold the paint down) or air brushing so all of these will be done by hand. Chapter marking is being planned and will be hand painted. Probably won't have any squad or company markings as in my games it will be a different company/squad in most battles(see sig below for more details) No clue for the base, I've seen some cool "ceramic tile" styled bases but I might just go with something simple like gravel or grass. I once made a cobblestone base by hacking up an old plastic castle wall and trimming it to fit a base. There are hobby supplies everywhere, you just need to keep an eye out for them. For Sanguinius. Bought some brushes at Walmart in the hopes that they would get me to paint a little faster as my current selection of brushes is a large one and a fine detail one by citadel, but they ended up being too cheap :( I will redeem and double my efforts over the week-end!
