Darth Mustard's Chaos WIP : update (page 16)

Recommended Posts

Hello, hello,

After a 10 years break and a recent lot of lurking I started to model again.

Here a quick kitbashing inspire by Brother Heimrich´s friend´s twist on the dark elf witches and daemonettes.

visible here http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278092-night-lords-15th-company-etl-iii-vow-pg50/page-50

There was something not working for me in the daemonette kit. Somehow they didn´t look daemonic enough :smile.:

I think they look better that way but it´s just a personal opinion.

I need to assemble at least 5 more but I might merge and mix completely the 2 boxes and end up with 20 daemonettes in the end.

They could be separated in 2 units of 10 just by choosing the daemonette or witch body.

It´s a first stage. They are on a temporary WF base (I haven´t decided yet on what to put them on).

They need clean up and patching with green stuff.

I tried to keep them with very "top model" like attitude or posture. I think it´s suits their daemonic patron and kind of remind me of the first models of them that I ever saw.

Critics, comments, ideas, anything goes and is welcome.

I assembled also so Tzeentch horrors and started to work on plague bearers so more to come... including 5 or 15 of them :biggrin.:

So I now need a box of Daemonettes and a box of Witch Elves. Yours and Heinrich's mixed in a unit would look amazing. Some calm and seductive, the rest exploding in violent action.

Don't forget the round bases too.

Thanks Forte

I´m not surprised that you could not resist to Slaneesh´s call ;)

I can save you time since I´m not planning to keep them... :)

Square bases will be gone after the painting. Still looking for a basing idea. Maybe industrial...

I´m probably going to start the witches going daemonette stealing Heinrich´s thunder to trying to mix them.

The painting and the bases should link this unit of 20.

Here are the other 5.

They are a little bit more common.

I have to think of the way of changing that.

Sorry for the poor quality of the photos.

I´ll get some of better quality after the patching.

@Darth Mustard. My squad of them were built ages ago. Do need basing and painting though. See how my first vow goes. But I do have two others in mind. Low model count but decent points. Though one is a big thing.

Thanks for the positive feedbacks guys.

There is actually a little bit more work than kitbash since the heads of daemonettes come with a round end and opposite system for the witches.

Same for the arms.

You just need to carefully reinforce the junction with a small metal rod.

I'm not so sure about the daguers now.

They look a little too common.

Maybe I'll swap them for a whip or another type of blade.

Some of the masks should be altered too to not look all the same.

I'll finish the witches turning into daemonettes first to avoid to corner myself by lack a head or an arm and then I'll complicate a little bit more the things.

Working on these actually gave me ideas for cultists and CSM.

@ Eldrick Gonna be tricky to find anything in China :)

Thought you could get everything in China. At a lower price too ;)

Certainly but I don't need a minimum order of 100 airbrush, 10 000 tons of green stuff and 200 liters of industrial paint and radiaoactive resin if I had a Chinese credit card. :)

There are no decent hobby stores here in Shanghai and yet 2 GW stores.

Assuming that my parcel will not be stolen, confiscated by the customs or never delivered because they can't read my name correctly, it can take up to 2 months to arrive from overseas... :(

But I'm looking, if anyone has tips on online stores or real stores in this country I'm open.

Kitbashing is costing me in RMB and in space since I have to buy the whole box of what I need.

It actually felt liberating to assemble this 10 minis.

A plane ticket to a country with the things you need that would cost you less than the delivery cosy/waiting period? :p some eeeeeevil looking demonettes there, will look ace with some paint

Thanks helterskelter

I was aiming for evil

I think I'll start the rest of the witches before painting them.

I have to regain a decent level of painting before starting these delicate models (horrors and plague bearers should do the trick, one for bright layouts and highlights the other one for washes)

I still need to fight the urge of kitbashing the left over bits into cultists and mutants... and CSM..and, and, and ADD... :biggrin.:

Any tips on how to smuggle a compressor for an airbrush ??? :smile.:

So I worked on another deamonette using the witch as a base replacing the head by the most inhuman one from the deamonnette, putting lobster claws (no butter to stay slender) and I don´t ... know... if I like it or not...

something is off compared to the other ones.

I mean the movement in that mini is "olympics" style. I wanted the jump/dance/ice skating deadly drill feeling but I don´t know about the rest.

The whip could work on the left arm. It´s the original kit. And I could always put a mask instead of an head but would it not like too much like the original model?

What da ya´ll say? Please C&C and opinions

all right

So It just me

I'm afraid that if I used the helmets on the witches and the lobster claws they'll look too much like witches and not enough like daemonettes.

A unit of 20 helmets could be cool though.

Arghh so many doubts

Maybe it's just because repositionning the arms was a little more trickier than I thought

For this model I had to work with little shoulders sections from the witches

I have no clue on how to paint them still

With a brush? (Sorry).

I'm thinking of doing mine from a white primer and making the skin as pale as possible and using glazes to vary the tone and colour of different areas. Armour and cloth will be darker to contrast.

:D :D someone had to to it no ?

:D

Usually I would be the one sacrifizing myself for the team

Yeah palish skin maybe with some retro 90s orange claws and big dark eyes.
maybe some pink metalic armour

blanchistu ryu?

or

violet pre heresy emperor's children for the armor?

zombie grey skin?

should I vow or not ?

where is North?

Can you pass me the salt?

so many questions ...

@ Forte before vowing I have to built no?

So half masks, half daemonettes heads?

lobster or whip ?

I'm thinking of changing the daggers for blades that would be along their forearms, like the wolfen had in Confrontation, maybe spiking or sharperning the shields so they look more offensive that protective.

@ Lepaca

Wasn't me, Slaanesh made me do it and it's all Forte and Brother Heinrich's fault to begin with.

:)

Ha,ha. I take no credit for you doing Slaanesh models.

As for ETL. The rule is they must not be more than a simple base coat. So unbuilt is not a problem at all.
