Darth Mustard's Chaos WIP : update (page 16)

Recommended Posts

yes Juan Diaz !!!

Thank you Brother Chaplain Kage!!! You made my GW day !!!

The daemonettes are the first box I bought in China.

A keeper of Secrets was the first mini ever offered to me.

I was looking to start a new cycle when I bought the daemonettes.

I could never start them. Something was missing but what?

The mask makes them more daemon like to me but I realize with your post that it is the horns that it gives them that works for me.

In the back of my skull were the daemonettes from the 90's who were pretty bizarre with the big claws and the scorpion tales but I was actually thinking about the minis of Juan Diaz without realizing it. They do look more daemon like, devious, sensual, ambigious. Even the hairless heads look too human to me but if I add dreadlocks/tentacles on their head what would they look like?

I'll try when patching them to add horns and tentacles.

I notice that the minotaur/bull/sacred cow of Slaneesh has also disappered. I intend to fix that.

I know a good Kick Starter (Creature Caster) that ends on May 11th which has an amazing Pincer Daemon. Bull headed Keeper style but about 15cm tall.

I actually have PDH vintage warband on dakka in mind for inspiration http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/1020/320489.page

These models are my "living ancestor" references

Oh boy, Forte, is it how a Slaneesh addiction start? Are these the first symptoms? :D

Well, I have most of those same champions and will be using one as a Cultist Champion. Got to love those old Jed Goodwin creations.

Here are the last 2 of them

I´m kind of on the fence with some models.

I liked the idea of the shield in the beginning, looked "realms of Chaos" but I´m not sure. Same with the daggers.

I thought about using masks for the 2 units to blend them but I´m afraid that the witches would be too witches.

Should I change the heads?

What do you think?

@ Forte : well I still need to find a color scheme... maybe the actual GW one since they will be for sale but some of them are undercoated

@ Lepaka : thanks. There is still some work to be done on them to have them "perfect" (as much as my modest abilities will allow me too.

@ Antarius : thanks, I ´m blushing

@ TJWyrm : thanks, you´re absolutely right. The paint job will tie them together. Chaos possibilities are endless. I have to thank this forum for providing great ideas, Brother Heinrich´s daemonettes pushed me to realize these, Guitarasmus reminded me that you had to think outside the  box and you had to look at the kits for other possibilities they might offer, Forte reminded me also of Slaneesh was my first love and his positive support really drove me to work regularly on them, getting good reviews from master craftsmen like  Brother Chaplain Kage makes every visit on that forum a real pleasure.

I´ll try start working on them as soon as possible but I´ll be on a business trip next week. I´ll use Forte´s disciple to built the drive to paint them.

If you guys have any idea on how to paint them i´m open to suggestions

Thank you for visiting

Not sure you really want me to make suggestions on how to paint them. Especially as you'll be selling them after.

I do recommend having a look over at the Massive Voodoo site as Jar uses the Daemonettes during painting lessons and there's also three step by step tutorials too for some very different schemes.

I´m curious to know what you would go for Forte.

Thank you for the tip on Massive Voodoo. The tutorial seems really cool and his painting technics including a lot of washes are kind of what I was thinking to use.

His idea of a 4 claws Deamonette is brilliant.

Right now I´m struggling not to go and buy more models to built a Slaneesh daemonic force but I already have a lot of minis to built and to sale (maybe).

I can´t keep them and I don´t think that there are players my age and with my having fun philosophy when you play before all in Shanghai.

I agree that it is weird to spend so much time on something that you are not keeping.

Reminding that helps me not to modify more the Daemonettes that I have already built.

I'm tempted to go with very pale skin and using glazes to hint at colour heading toward claws and feet. The clothing having different pastels used and the armour areas having a metallic turquoise feel to them.

Yeap MetallicTurquoise would definitely keep them with your colour scheme. I like the idea. A pink metallic could work also. Mine are bald. They reminded me of the Marvel character Moon Dragon. I need to find a way to inject some colors. In the claws? violet, purple, red, orange ? or in the armor I don't know yet

The undercoated one already look cooler than I expected. I have some patching to do.

Now I just need to not f.... up the paint.
I think I shot myself in the back with 20 models... Not sure I'm that kind of serial painter.

I just need to not think about converting more of them and start a Slaneesh force. :)

I think I might turn my CSM box into a Slaneesh one.

Need to stay focus !!!
