PH Night Lords 22nd Company Updated 8/11/2014.

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I've been out of the hobby a long time, but the Horus Heresy has dragged me back in. I figured the ETL would be a good way for me to stop my lurking on here and to get me some painting motivation.

So.....

I CPT Weiss answer the call of E TENEBRAE LUX and vow to complete a “10 man Terror Squad with flamer, heavy chainblade, power weapon, artificer armour and melta bomb upgrades” from [HH Book 2: Massacre] of total value [240 Points] on or before August 1st. Success will bring eternal glory to [Night Lords Pre Heresy] and failure will doom me to bear the Badge of Shame until the year-end

I'll upload my progress here, unfortunately, the only thing I have done so far is unboxing and in the middle of soaking lol...

Thanks everyone for the encouragement, even though all I had to show so far was a box and soapy water...

Anyways, that has changed, I managed to get two guys done, with three more primed and hopefully on there way to being completed tomorrow.

Warning! I am not the best photographer in the world.. or even in this city.. or probably even in this building I live in lol.

First two in my Terror Squad "Second Claw"

Looks great, only suggestion I have about the lightning is to do a small thin line of white to give it some depth/charge!  I like your use of the black shoulderpad though!

Not a bad start buddy! Looks like you've got a nice, rich blue recipe worked out. I love the black shoulderpad too. Gives them a unique look.

For a little constructive crit, I'd try one more layer of super thin highlights, on both the lightning and some of the tippy toppest edges on the blue war plate. It would give a lot more definition and help attract the eye to all the interesting things going on.

Hope that helps. Keep up the awesome work!

Good start, my favourite is the third member. And for suggestion ive got one, maybe  the colour ot the bases you could paint in some orange/ rust colour or some other contrasting color for the blue armour IMHO, even a snowy or ash style base type.

Took everyone's advise into consideration and this is what I did with it. tried doing a tad more highlighting and lightened the base a bit... Im going for a smashed urban environment, like Terra during the siege, for my bases...

Took me a bit to get stuff together for the last 5 of my Terror squad. Figured I would give a preview of what is to come. Also have another group of 5 in the wash.... Maybe the beginning of another terror squad, this one a bit more range oriented... Who knows....

As a side note, I've run into a problem where some parts just don't want to stay glued together, or wont glue at all. I'm using the same super glue I always have, and they are all washed in hot water with a soap that's a degreaser. Certain parts are holding well, others will hold and then fall off and some wont stick at all... Its getting rather frustrating.. (Looking at you running heavy chain sword guy whose chest just popped off his legs and then the arms came off.) Any advice about this issue would be appreciated or any C and C for that matter.

Thank you

P.S. Also looking for a company number, any ideas on ones that haven't been taken, the NL Legion is getting pretty full around here lol.

This project is not dead!

Been busy, doing both things and stuff. However I'm proud to say that my vow is complete.. Minus the flamer and heavy chainsword. There was a small melting problem while attempting to heat and straighten the pieces out.

Anyways, I'm continuing on with my Pre-Heresy Night Lords. Decided to do a simple Tac squad (7th Claw) and have 4 ready to go with a 5th sitting on my desk waiting for some assembly and paint.

Enjoy, and as always, comments and suggestions are always appreciated.

Interesting, have you changed your painting style a bit? The new tac squad members look a much lighter blue than the terror squad.

But, your painting is definitely improving, and your bases are pretty darn cool!

Glad to see you're still working on this lil project. If you're still looking for a company number, come on by the Murderer's Call thread and browse around a bit. We've had a few folks jump in just in the last week or so. We're always looking for talented new blood ^_^
