Anyone still playing Space Marine?

Recommended Posts

I've been banned on Xbox live, but I put the game down months before.  All of the achievements, maxed everything, but it was just too laggy.  Patches broke the game more than fixed it.

Is there still people playing it, or has it finally died after reaching the end terminus?

What did you do to get banned from XBL?  I play it occasionally.  Still haven't gotten all the achievements.  There's good days and bad.  For some reason, XBL will match me with people in Mexico or England, but nobody in Eastern United States.  Its one of the most enraging things about playing Halo is that I get put in Mexican/Texan/NOT EASTERN US server pools.  All match making should be Best Connection sorted by Regional First, THEN Skill Based.

I tried the pvp for a while, but it's wildly unbalanced in favor of assault marines. I still crank it up for the campaign now and then.

No experience on the PS3 or PC, but you can thank the last patch for :cussing that up.  Which is a damn shame, they :cussed the game more than fixed it.

I got banned for modding the avatar.  Apparently I didn't read the TOU since four years ago at a glance, and got bored one night.  Before hand I was having a blast carrying my reputation between games that I have to include it for my Lord's story.  I miss the painter the most, so much fun trying color schemes on the screen, wish they had camo patterns.

I played for months when it first came out and right up until just before the Dread DLC - whatever it was called - and quite frankly it was bad enough then in terms of MM and lagging.

Haven't touched it since then but do like to fire up a bit of Kill-Team now and again, which I think is a much better game.

Played it for a good long while with friends, but then people started figuring out that you could run a Meltagun with improved melta charge and rapid deployment which almost instantly killed any sort of entertainment value the game had. I'll used to occasionally put it in my 360 to fool around for a little while and just enjoy using a standard bolter, but it doesn't take more than about 30 seconds for someone from the Graia Crusades or whatever they were called and toss that simple fun out the window. In short, no I really don't play it save the rare chance I play a little bit of Exterminatus with Dan the Daemon or 1000 heathens.

I played through the campaign again about a month ago...

Tried online, but everyone else is a super high level and insta-beats you so its impossible to gain any experience or have any fun. Uninstalled it...

Used to love it like hell when it first came out, sure there was a bit of lag but that was hardly noticable. Loved the melta gun and it was the only thing I was good with, then the extra DLC and patches came out and then it was laggy as hell and not playable on PVP, Exterminartus was fun but being a high level and having all the good stuff and being put in with teams who don't know what they are doing isn't fun nor a challenge.

Completed the campaign on the PC version and have a few missions left on the 360 version.

I think the one thing that always bothered me, even with all the crap patches, was why when you had two weapons, did it take longer to draw your sidearm rather than the second weapon?  Then you had the adjustments, it took three patches just to bring back the Friend or Foe IFF for names, the lag getting worse every patch, and don't get me started on the AM/Raptor Buff and the Dev/Havoc changes to the Lascannon, running with pistol, or the PC Nerf.

By far the best edition was the new map packs, because they just screamed fly over me.  On top of how they never configured the MM rotation to not include them for regular players, because having the entire lobby drop out after a game is such a good idea.

Speaking of week one musings, when did the Vengeance Launcher become popular?  It used to be one of my favorite tac weapons next to a double perked Bolter, but the amount of people using it was less than two players a lobby.  Hell, this is like when I first started, I though the PP was junk until everyone spammed it in the AM/Raptor Buff.

I'm still online on xbl between space marine and world of tanks. I make people eat my heavy bolter, or laugh maniacally when I drop a grenade at the assault marines feet and watch him explode

10 achievements still missing on the PC version, mostly multiplayer. The problem is the insane lag, the lack of players online and pain bad groups for Exterminatus. When the game was released I was doing mostly multiplayer, unlocking weapon upgrades, scoring kills and playing an awesome devastator or more aptly havoc. It all soured for me when the lag spikes became unbearable.

The campaign is nice but I have played it through once and it was on the hard mode for the achievement, so I have mastered all nooks and crannies leaving me with no need or want to replay some missions bar for some achievements... which at this stage are also boring.

Nah, with some better support this game would have been golden, a real jewel of high pitched action, raw aggression and brutal firefights... as it is now it is plain unplayable in multiplayer, useless in single player once you went through all the missions.

I still play the campaign from time to time on PS3 when I'm in the ork killing mood, was never a big fan of multiplayer. It's been a while since last time because of things like Battlefield 4, Mass Effect and my new character in Skyrim.

I still out on Exterminatus on PS3. Just some mindless slaughtering of Greenskins. Fun with friends, just sad that there's so little people still playing. Those that do, mainly use up the entire Team's lives. wallbash.gif

There's probably no support for WoT because we don't really have any tank mods for 40k.  Not to mention it's not a 40k related game.

That being said, I play the PC, my highest is a FV215b (183) with two 8s on the way out, but I can't play because my laptop is practically broken without working a mouse.  Don't ask why I have such bad luck.

Loyalists: Minotaurs, Celestial Lions, Salamanders, Death Watch, my own IA Chapter based on family Heraldry (Ferric Eagles, descendant Chapter of the Iron Hands), Pre-heresy Death Guard, Pre-heresy World Eaters (fav), Blood Angels, Revo, Raptors (my second most used), Angry Marines, Iron Snakes (helped a guy figure out what this chapter looked like), B&C Clan colors

Chaos: Sons of Malice, Iron Warriors, Emperors Children, World Eaters in Pre-heresy colors with blood splash extra, The Pyre, Steel Cobras, random colored Nurglish Warband, Damned Sons of Lord Caustos (that's a mouthful), Thousand Sons, Night Lords (Most popular Legion to see), Violators (looks like Chaos smurfs so I stopped), Angry Marines, The Purge, Fallen (Stopped when I realized that no one would recognize their old scheme and the new one isn't really what the Fallen should look like), Thousand Son Rubric attempt.

I had so many good ideas.  All gone :(
