Welcome to my WIP topic. On this thread i will post pictures of my ongoing projects. The biggest of which is a World Eater army set during the Horus Heresy. I will post some pictures of how the army looks so far, but first I'm going to share my WIP entries for a painting competition in the end of may.

 

The scandinavian painting competition, The Fang, is coming up. So I though it war time to post some pictures of my

entries. The first is a World Eater, standing victoriously on top of a dead Hive Tyrant. The World Eater is basted on Games Workshop's Kahrn the Betrayer. I don't really care for the Khorn Berzerker crests (or the bunny ears), so i gave him a modified roman crest from the new Space Marine Stenguard Veteran Squad. I built the Hive Tyrant from the leftover bits from my Swormlord, and a Carnifex torso.

I will be painting the World Eater in a deep red, with a bone white helmet, to represent a Chaos Space Marine of the Skulltakers. I still don't know what colours I will use for the Hive Tyrant. But I think green would be nice, to give it a strong contrast to the red.

Looks awesome, though I'd mess up the crest a little bit, it looks too neat for having just come out of a fight with Terry the Tyrant.

Id say it would be cool to have the nid some sort of really mute colour, like mostly greys and blacks or dark browns, so that the CSM really stands out, while using the green as a spot colour on the nid so that he ties in. Just my 2 cents though!

- Blissfull Brushes: Thanks, I'll have it in mind. I've already started to paint the model tough, but i'm planning on painting it quite messy. Maybe in a dirty white or grey.

 

- Olisredan: Thanks! I promise you more dead xenos in the future.

 

- Pyromancer: The painting tip is appreciated. I'm still not sure which colours to use on the Tyrant, but he will be mute all right. The Khorne Champion is going to be what catches the eye.

World Eater Tactical Squad

Like I said earlier my biggest project at the moment it a World Eater army set during the Horus Heresy. So I thought it was about time to post some pictures of my finished half of my first tactical squad.

I have to agree with Darth, but also want to add that the gore effects are very well done!

Your pre heresy World Eaters are looking good.  I love the gore effects, battle damage and the helmet lenses (They really pop).

 

Few questions..

 

How did you do your battle damage, sponge effects or did you hand paint the chips in the armor? 

 

Are you using cork for any of your basing?

 

How big will you be making your WE army, any vehicles planned?  I ask because I would love to see how you weather them.

The battle damage effect is done with a sponge, yes. Black and dark brown. I also paint the bottom of the biggest battle damage spots with a line of white to get a 3D effect. Cork for basing is also correct.

 

I haven't made an army list yet. So I don't know how large it's going to be.

 

I have painted some vehicles though, an Imperial Knight in the colours of the legion, and a WIP Rhino. You can check out the knight on my blog: http://wilhelminiatures.blogspot.no. I'm not happy with the pictures though. That's why I haven't posted any of them here yet. can't seem to get the colours right. But I'm still trying to get some good photos, and will post them here soon.

Terminator Squad

The three first members of my terminator squad are done. I gave them chainaxes to fit in with the rest of the army. I equipped the sergeant with two axes, like the legions primarch.

I finally managed to get some good pictures of the first World Eaters I ever painted; an MKIV assault squad. the one on the left, with the two knifes, was the test model for the army. The blue on the shoulder pads and knees has been changed to a lighter tone on later models, like the tactical squad and terminators I posted earlier.

The Fang is in four days, and I'm still not finished with my entries. The Chaos Space Marine killing a Hive Tyrant is nearly done, but I can't seem to find the right colour for the Tyrant's blood. Green is the classic colour for alien blood, but the Tyrant is green, so it could be hard to get the right tone. Red Would be easiest, since I've painted red blood before, but I'm afraid it'll look weird since the CSM's armour is red. Does anyone have some tips for painting alien blood?

Edit: for the blood I would use blue maybe. Try mixing gloss, blue paint and some white glue maybe?

 Thanks, Pyromancer. I'm mixing paints at the moment trying to get a nice blood-colour. Blue is not a bad idea, but I think it would make the diorama to colourful. I've decided to use red for the blood.

I've also painted the rocks in different shades of grey. The base looks a bit empty at the moment. A lot of dead space. Any ideas of how to solve this? I'm thinking about adding some dead alien trees.

Very nice stuff, for the base on that display I've go with dead dismembered marines. Make it look like the Tyrant put up a fight but that guy came out on top, it'll make him look more powerful if he beat something that killed his mates.

Killer World Eaters! Loving the way they're turning out. The dead 'Nid is also rad, and so is the Chaos Lord. He is the raddest. As for the dead space, you could fill it with dead Marines and Nids, as there are usually a few things in the way of a Hive Tyrant. Looking forward to seeing it finished.

In regards to your earlier problems today, WihelMiniatures, we have had server issues to put it bluntly. I suspect the reason your repeated efforts to upload a new update (that were cruelly foiled) was the aforementioned server issues and our Admins seeking to restore the 23rd of May backup. Hopefully, with the backup apparently in effect, these issues are now behind us. 

 

I sincerely hope these problems haven't put you off posting your update for good, brother. :)

Like I said before to the ones who asked for more dead models on the base, I didn't have time to do this. It was a really good idea, but I had to finish My other projects for the fang. 

 

I already posted some pictures of my finished diorama. But as they got lost with the restore, I'm going to repost some of them. 

 

 

 

I entered 4 models in The Fang. My Chaos Space Marine on dead Hive Tyrant diorama in Duel/Diorama, a FW Great Unclean One in Warhammer monster, a knight in the colours of the World Eater Legion in 40k vehicle and monster, and Angron in 40k single miniature. 

 

Angron Is currently at the GW store together with the rest of the entries, so I don't have any pictures of him yet. 

 

My diorama got 2nd place in it's category!

I'm happiest with is getting 1st place in Warhammer Monster with the daemon. The Nurgel Daemon also got me 1'st in the Norwegian Final. It will soon be shipped off to Stockholm for the finals together with the rest of the winning entries from all the scandinavian GWs. All of the finalists will be photographed and posted in Warhammer: Visions in a couple of months, so look out for my Great Unclean One!

 

I'm sorry about the bad picture. I was up until 5 in the morning the night before the competition, painting the daemon, and I never got a chance to take any proper photos of it. 

I promise to post better pictures when it comes back from Sweden.
