Up until recently the HH forums was a place to discuss the stories of the HH. Don't get me wrong the tactica page is what I set for my favorites. And besides there's always the Tactica sub-forum which is open to such things. So, while I can understand that it may seem like a strange mix to have fluff and tactics in the same area, it's pretty much the same in other faction sub-forums (the Ultramarines area is probably the best example of this) and has never really been a problem :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Again, other sub-forums have had to deal with the same "issue" and it has, to my knowledge, never been a problem so I fail to see why it should be one in this case. Scribe: I don't moderate the HH sub, so I'm not aware of any topic moves and the like. I do agree with you though and if the tactics topics are moved, then the same should happen to the hobby threads. We have two basic options that are on the table - keeping Horus Heresy tactics in the Horus Heresy forum or moving them into the Tactica forum. Both options are "correct" in that they are viable. What are the pros and cons of each of these options? Are there other options? For example, would use of the tags and the resources topic work? There are other alternatives, but I don't want anyone getting too fanatical about them. Ultimately, we need to identify the basic requirement - discussing tactics under the Horus Heresy rules from Forge World. What are the criteria that would enable such discussion to best effect? What solutions might meet the basic requirement and the criteria? Under the current rules and board structure, this is a moderator choice issue, with either of the basic options working. I have a small pocket of players interested in a topic (HH) and I wish to discuss an aspect within that subset. Keeping a thread going for discussion on tactics within that forum allows for hitting the highest number of eyes that already have an interest in the topic. Book discussion could go to the black library forum, but those topics see a far smaller set of eyes per topic for the HH stuff, and so discussion (the point of a forum) is limited compared to the same threads in the HH forums. Similar logic would seem to apply for all but the WIP/Glamour shot posts, as everyone on this board admires a nice model in Power Armour. ;) Keep the discussion relevent to the most eyes. HH Tactics -> HH Forum. Now perhaps I missed some threads that where ruined (subjective) by tactical contributions. To me its all discussion but my tastes are hotter and more chaotic than most when it comes to discussions and where they can go. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Removing these threads creates a hassle for those who wish to view and discuss these threads, as they now have something they view as one thing in multiple places. However, the hassle is minimal, and can easily be ignored once the habit forms. A couple extra clicks and/or scrolling is really nothing to bother on about. Keeping those threads is a hassle for those who wish to view and discuss the subforum's primary topic (in this case the Horus Heresy, but not its rules, tactics, models, etc), who have to make the judgment call on a thread's purpose and content (is this thread titled 'Terminator' about the armor, or about the armor's rules?). However, the hassle is minimal, and can easily be ignored once the habit forms. A couple extra clicks and/or scrolling is really nothing to bother on about. Which one is gone with, really doesn't matter. One group will get an extra hassle that another group doesn't have, but that hassle is negligible either way. In that case, it would seem most fair to go with whichever group is the largest. My assumption is that this would be those in the former of my examples above and not the latter, even though I fall under the latter myself. In which case, keep the status quo. Someone is going to find it a hassle, so make sure it is the smallest group, once all possible compromises are exhausted. As an aside, though the tags system is useful and has potential to be even more useful if used more correctly and widely (and I use it myself for my DIY projects), it is nonexistent for mobile users. As with the Horus Heresy Army Lists sub-forum, the Horus Heresy Tactica sub-forum is a child of the main Tactica forum while also having a direct link from the Horus Heresy forum.
