Primarch83 Posted June 3, 2014 Share Posted June 3, 2014 I have been playing Raven Guard for around 15 years or so, the army is vast and most of it is painted. Have been wanting to add an ally force to it but after painting a few Carcharodons for that purpose, I am now in love and want a whole predation fleet. Tyberos will be in the army but I plan on focusing my forces on another predation fleet. I would assume that his fleet is the 1st predation fleet so I will go with the 3rd fleet, because whyyyyyy not. (also assuming this is how the Carcharodons operate on their sacred duty to travel the empty spaces beyond the Imperium's borders, seemingly forever, to seek out and destroy the enemies of Mankind. That way many predation fleets can patrol all over the edges of the galaxy independently bringing the Emperors will to the Alien.) Took a lot of pics and I just can't get close up shots that look good >< Frustrating to say the least but maybe I will learn as I go. Also any tips or ideas would be awesome and I plan on asking for opinions on some of what I'm doing. Like should I paint the master of the forge red or just a shoulder pad red? Should I paint his personal Land raider Achilles transport red or just a door? What should I work on next a Storm Eagle or Fire Raptor? Stuff like that. Pics soon Sun Reaver: The cloak is far from done but I'm glad it looks good already and I have plans for painting more troops! Greyshift: The black is straight forward. Chaos black, black wash, sponge on some damage with grey and metals. The grey is: Mechanicus Standard Grey then a layer of Dawnstone. Seraphim Sepia wash. I use another brush to lightly brush away the wash after about 10 seconds of it being on the model. Leaving only a slight yellow to it. A watered down highlight of Dawnstone and sponge damaging/weathering powders. Pretty easy and I'm sure ill add or change things as I go. Here is WIP on Valac my favorite Red Brethren. He is also my Deathwatch Rpg character that I finally got the renown last game session for terminator armour and lightning claws. Couldnt wait to build the model And a question. So power weapons and lightning claws: "Power Weapons generally exude a hazy, blue-coloured field of energy that wraps around the primary impact region of a melee weapon, be it a sword's blade or warhammer's head and is capable of disrupting the molecular bonds of matter when it strikes." Does that mean the energy from the weapon would be hot? Evaporating/heating liquid like blood off of them? Meaning blood would not be on power weapon types, it would only be around it (fingers, hilts etc.) Don't want to paint blood on the claws if it wouldnt be collecting on them. Just around them. Urael Posted June 4, 2014 Share Posted June 4, 2014 You'll probably want to do OSL on the claw blades, so do blood effects would be a misted splatter pattern halo from the blades. Wrists, elbows, and knees would get the brunt on the non evaporated blood; shoulders, face, and feet would see less. I bought this off ebay from a guy a few states away and I think its a recast... A ton of terrible spots on it but it was cheap so I guess its ok.
