Rare and cool Templar art

Recommended Posts

They are both very cool. Though I dislike that Helbrecht is wielding a maul instead of the Sword of the High Marshals

Aside from the style, that's one of the reasons I think it's concept art.  From this lovely batch of work, displayed with more in the White Dwarf unveiling of our codex:

God, if only they made a Neophyte kit, too.  Such wasted potential.  One more notch for that particular post, I suppose.

. Yeah, but it's. better pose than what gw gave us on the model, and a better candlabra detail on the backpack than the one provided. Definitely inspires me to emulate the pose for a sternguard veteran. Firepower, I completely agree with you about the neophyte kit-- wasted potential. Maybe when brettonia gets an update our bit prayers will be answered. Edited by The_Chaplain

It's a little different from the original art. Wish He had his backpack on. Makes him look a little naked.

Just found these in an old art book by Clint Langley. I know the 2nd one was on black library recently but still worth posting

Not sure what to say on those pics Val. The first one has a nice theme, but makes me call BS on the Templar icons. They look purposely highlighted and extrabold, standing out and looking pristine... depsite the grit and grime, and battle damage. Nice battle scene, but a minor fail with how they decided chapter emblems are immune to fading and combat damage

Brother Talon: Indeed, hadn't seen them until looked in the art book. Think it was circa 2006 when that collection came out and hadn't seen it used. Has an old school GW vibe to it which was a change to the normal.

Edit: just point out these where from a old GW art book

Hey! I'm pretty new here and I'm sure some of you elder brothers have perused these holy texts.

From the mind of the most holy adept Abnett: Damnation Crusade Comic

That's the guy from the Helsreach cover art. Not Grimaldus obviously, but that's definitely the Emperor's Champion in the background preparing to deliver a paddlin' to the foe. From the cross on the shoulder, to the chain on the sword.

Not an official GW Templar art, but kudos to Luches from Deviant Art for this awesome BT Dreadnought

Blast you Brother for beating me to posting Luches' work! I must restore my honor for tardiness, and shall by following it up with something of equal measure!

For I'll give you one guess (and link) as to who has been building the conversion dread for his art piece. Frackin bitz scrounging and issues... put my entire army on hold because I wanted to get that thing done!

Behold, Brother Hildebrand  Now I must get to work on my army again, I can feel someone preparing a paddlin..
