Artellus Numeon

Lord-Protector of Hesiod, First Captain of the Salamanders

"We have all burned. Down in the fire pits, or from the brander’s iron in the solitorium, we have all touched the fire. It leaves scars, even for us. We carry them proudly, with honour. But the scars we took that day on that battlefield, we bear only with shame and regret. They are a memorial in flesh, a physical reminder of everything we have lost, a burn even we fire-born cannot endure without pain."

- First Captain Artellus Numeon

Sons of Horus

Legion Praetor "Arkeon Sanath"

- The Alpha Reaver, The Malicious, The Inglorious

Arkeon Sanath was born on Cthonia and slowly rose through the ranks of the reaver squads. At no point of time a favoured one of his superior officers, it seemed to be more than questionable how he reached a leading position as a centurion. Somehow, over the cause of years, all competitors or rivals perished in mysterious ways, in the heat of battle or fell into disgrace of the chapter command. A fool might call him a murderer, an opportunist, a liar and a saboteur. But legionaires who are personally illoyal to him tend to die faster than they are able to rethink their opinions.

Beside his questionable personal characteristics, he perfectly incorporates the ideals of warfare Horus admires so much. Overwhelming power unleashed upon any resistance, no matter how dishonorable or cruel it is supposed to be. Sanath considers a fair fight something that must be avoided at any cost. Sacrificing whatever is needed to win: brothers, machines, ideals.. nothing matters, as long as it results in victory.

And when stars burned and brother battled brother, Sanath had finally paved his way up to the most senior ranks.
