In the embrace of the great Nurgle, I am no longer afraid, for with His pestilential favour I have become that which I once most feared: Death.
-Kulvain Hestarius, of the Death Guard

Fellow brothers of the XIV Legion, the time for war is near, for soon we march to the gates of Terra itself and cast down the Emperor of Mankind and anybody who stands between us and our goal. The banners of the Plague God fly high in his pestilent glory, and uncounted warbands are gathering together preparing for the battles that face us. This is a call to arms for all that are loyal to Nurgle and our gene father Mortarion, make yourselves known so you can join the names of your brothers and you will be remembered for all time as the Chosen of Nurgle, his favoured sons, his Plague Lords, join us in the Dance of Death and soon we will be at his right hand and rule all that we can see... (what the curtains??)

I, Slave to Darkness, sworn to Nurgle and former Deathguard Legionnaire, send forth the 'Maggot Kin' lead by Festimius the Septile, to do battle with the followers of the Corpse God, victory shall be ours, as only Death and Decay is certain.

I, ArcticPaladin, former Death Guard legionnaire of the 47th company present to the Lord of Death and Decay the Scourge. May we spread undeath and plague in his name, and bring forth the doom of the corpse emperor. Our glorious leader the Lich King, formerly known as Alexander Chillwind, shall deliver our forces to the battlefields of the long war.

I am the Disease, I am the vector by which a thousand star systems shall fall in the servitude of our true father and saviour, the great Nurgleth.

I shall lend the strength of the Disciples to this most worthy cause led by the Sorceror Kyphas Sadistra, favoured champion of the cabal of the seven, the scorn of Palakas, master of the Tabanadae:

"The greatest terror is the failure of the mortal shell. Decay, pestilence, and rot are constants in a galaxy populated with an uncountable number of living souls."

I'm a recent convert to the Dark Gods, and I have more ideas than I do finished models.  My heart is sworn to the Plague God as is my warband, Shepherds of Rot, led by Lord Skeletus.  An enigmatic group composed of post-heresy renegades devoted to the Plague of Unbelief, they specialize in necromancy and the raising of plague zombies from the crypt worlds of the Imperium.

One necromantic sorceror and test model for my scheme:

Silly me - forgot pre heresy DG only had seven great companies. Put me down as 3rd company under master Tamadas Dion.

However, that shoudnt put off people representing individual chapters or battalions within a great company- DG was huuuuge by the time of the heresy!

That's how I did mine.

7th Great Company is Garro's - but I've chosen the 5th Battalion for myself (until BL comes up with some fluff about it and forces me to 'relocate').

Edit - which would be a pain because my minis have a VII in the lower right corner of their right shoulder and a V on their knee pad.

How many Battalions per great company?

It varies.

For Death Guard it was 7,000 toons per Great Company which means 7 Battalions of 10 Companies of 10 Squads of 10 men, for each Great Company? Or something like that.

7 great companies at 7000 men is only 49000 men. To the best of my faulty memory I thought the Death Guard were at 95000 strong at Heresy Start? Am I missing something or do I have something wrong?
