What is a cost effective way to comply with WYSIWYG and model a bolt pistol, bolter, and close combat weapon on your Marines. Obviously, as a warrior of the VIIth Legion, I'm looking to wield as many chainaxes as possible, but we'll keep this open to chainswords, combat blades, red whippy sticks, etc.... Have you had any experiences with opponents not thinking the bayonet (chained or otherwise) satisfied WYSIWYG for a CCW? Now say I wanted give my Marines chainaxes, as World Eaters are known to do. A chain bayonet would no longer suffice, yes? Or would it? I see the phobos chainaxes have hands already modeled on the haft. Keeping in mind my limited conversion skills, are there kits out there with arms sans hands to match them up with if I was driven to spend the cash to do so? If I wanted to do that with a tactical blob or two, should I resign myself to hacking the hands off tactical/despoiler arms? What kits out there have arms separated from hands? depthcharge12 Posted August 16, 2014 Share Posted August 16, 2014 To model true grit you can do things, the first, I suggest and the easiest, is to just mix the weapons. Have one guy with a bolter, another with axe and pistol, and yet another with bolter and axe. The second, and more costly way, is to attach bolters on slings to the marines. I think I might do true grit squads because it's fluffy to represent the world eaters beginning by shooting and advancing in orderly fashion but then fall to the nails and ditch their bolters for stabby time. If you've playing against someone who is howling about you not putting a bolter, bolt pistol, and chainsword on every mini you got, walk away immediately. Things can only get worse from there. Another option are the Catachan sheathed swords. Cut the sheaths at an angle, so that it creates a pointed appearance, then shave the cut edge until it is rounded. Voila, a sheathed gladius. :) Cost effective, fit beautifully on the hip or back, and pretty simple to do. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I figured it had just been discontinued. Now I know exactly where to find them. If I used those though, I'd probably just maglock them to thighs, as the drilling process is a little beyond my ken. Kilo, I'm familiar with the power weapon kits. But I don't know how efficient it is to pay for the entire kit, when all I want is the arms. Although I would end up with a lot of weapons for characters/sergeants... Are there any other FW kits that come with hands separate? Someone mentioned the possibility of the Legion assault or despoiler kits, but wasn't certain... I armed my Legionaries with bolters and put the combat blades behind their shoulders. IV Despoiler kit comes with arms that have separate hands and I presume that's true for the others, plus you get the marines rather than a whole bunch of power weapons and specialist pistols you may not use so it may be a bit more cost effective than the power weapon kit. Not under the tactical section on PG 30! Yes it is, Im looking at it right now. Thats funny, mine say's "Exchage" which means that you loose the bolt gun to gain the combat blade and/or chain sword. Edit 1: Arg, sorry, didn't see the line that says "add", need to go add loads of bolt guns to my models now! Edit 2: The World Eaters sprue's have separate "curved" combat blades (well sabres) and I have seen (and been known) to glue bolt guns onto marine backs, ust below the back pack. It was the special rule in 3rd ed that allowed Space Wolves to wield a bolter in one hand and a chainsword in the other and gain a bonus attach WITHOUT a bolt pistol. Marshal Rohr Posted August 17, 2014 Share Posted August 17, 2014 Im sure he gets that, but now that TG is the colloquial way to refer to models with rifles with accompanying side arms and blade, the problem becomes how do you reconcile the obnoxious scale of some GW chainswords, the smallness or awkward shape of the knives, and a decent pistol and rifle combination.
