Murderface - A Slipstream list named by Depthcharge

So, while chatting with folks on the World Eaters Tactica on the HH Tactia sub forum, I came up with this goofy but fluffy 3k World Eaters List.

Its in no way shape or form made to be Uber efficient, just fun to play...but bank breaking.

            HQ:

Chaplain : Artificer Armor, Melta bombs, Crozius Arcanum - 100pts

Chaplain : Artificer Armor, Crozius Arcanum - 95pts

Chaplain : Artificer Armor, Crozius Arcanum - 95pts

           Troops:

Legion Tactical Squad : 20 Marines, Artificer Armor, Melta Bombs, Vexilla, Extra Close Combat Weapon (chain axe)

Legion Tactical Squad : 20 Marines, Artificer Armor, Melta Bombs, Vexilla, Extra Close Combat Weapon (chain axe)

Legion Tactical Squad : 20 Marines, Artificer Armor, Melta Bombs, Vexilla, Extra Close Combat Weapon (chain axe)

            Elites :

Legion Apothecarion Detachment : 3 Apothecaries, Artificer Armor, Augury Scanner (on all) 180pts

Legion Contemptor Dreadnought Talon : 3 Dreadnoughts, 6 DCCW, 4 Heavy Flamers, 2 Twin-linked Bolters (points limitation) 565pts

           Heavy Support :

Legion Spartan Assault Tank : Armored Ceramite, Flare Shields, Heavy Flamer 340pts

Legion Spartan Assault Tank : Armored Ceramite, Flare Shields, Heavy Flamer 340pts

Legion Spartan Assault Tank : Armored Ceramite, Flare Shields, Heavy Flamer 340pts

Total: 3000 points.

And there you have it. 1 Chaplain / Apothecary per Tac Blob all starting within a Spartan. So turn one, only the 3 Spartans and 3 Contemptors should be out on the field.

After that, charge headlong into your opponent and disgorge your mass of Zealot'd Marines. Since they've still got bolters, the tac blobs still have the option of using Fury of the Legion in the event that they don't want to charge something or end combat and can't charge / assault into another one.

Nah, Chaplains are only there for Zealot really. Anything to make them stick in CC longer. If not I'd switch them all out for Legion Champions or something else CC related.

Rules-wise, all chaplains do is make them want to kill stuff more. There's plenty of ways to fluff that for World Eaters. You could model them with the arms taken off their power armour, no helmets, with massive meat cleavers and their arms bathed in blood, with ferocious snarling expressions. That'd be a convincing World Eaters chaplain. biggrin.png

I'd almost want to say drop the Contemptor Talon, add Angron, then go on a 165 point shopping spree!  Perhaps buy an outflanking Veteran Squad or upgrade a Tactical Squad to Rampagers or something.

So perhaps:

           Lord of War:

Angron - 400 points (He counts as two models so he fits in a Spartan)

           HQ:

Chaplain : Artificer Armor, Melta bombs, Crozius Arcanum - 100pts

Chaplain : Artificer Armor, Crozius Arcanum - 95pts

Legion Veteran Squad: 165 pts, so 6 Veterans, Missile Launcher?

           Heavy Support :

Legion Spartan Assault Tank : Armored Ceramite, Flare Shields, Heavy Flamer 340pts

Angron is a good idea, I admit. I would, however, want him inside a Spartan. So that would mean 2 less marines and thus 185 points to spend. At that point, I may just upgrade a Tac Squad to Rampagers, would be fluffy but since they already have FNP, that would make the Apoth useless if the bonus doesn't stack (which I doubt it does.). That means 1 less augury scanner for 18" 'deepstriking is a bad idea' bubble.

Would probably go with Tac Vets, HB on Web and Give them Sniper and a Rhino if I could fit it in.

Why the heavy bolter instead of the missile launcher on the Veterans?  Both have suspensor webs and the latter is only five points more.  A krak missile walking on from a neutral table edge near your foe's backfield and firing at full BS is pretty damned annoying for most armies.  Yes that unit is probably dead the next time your foe gets to shoot, but chances are you just got a S8 shot into the rear armor of something first.  Even joyriding in a Rhino, the heavy bolter option still requires you to squeeze out an additional 15 points, so why no make it 20 instead and give them tank hunters?

Because at Assault 3 and the Sniper Rule on top of being in rapid fire range, you can get some serious damage down range that a single ML might not be able to accomplish.

Fair point on the rending, but the outflanking assault missile launcher might be a bit easier to work with your list as the unit does not start on the table, leaving your army still safe inside their Spartans.  On turn 2, you are somewhere between 18" and 24" across the table before your Veterans roll to walk on.

You could also compromise and take the Rhino mounted Veterans with a missile launcher and give them sniper.  Think of the fun with sniper frag missiles!

Well, I'm using Imperial Fist Tac Vets with HB and Snipers and stuffing them into an Achilles this coming Monday for a HH Campaign with Wolf_Pack. Will see how that goes and adjust any Veteran Wargear options accordingly tongue.png

Does help that they get +1BS for firing Bolters as Imperial Fists

For different stacking you could take a variety of different consuls.

Also with a list this aggressive why bother with so much artificer armour? Buy some weapons and get to killing!

Don't take vets or the contemptor when you can strap in some butchers in 'nother raider!
